puddlemini
Absolutely true. I was recently watching this movie called Chak De India (sp?) and what this one character said really struck me: "It's awful being treated like a foreigner even when I say I'm from India"<--- It's a vastly diverse nation with many different styles, shapes, sizes, cultures, etc. I'm half-Indian and half-Korean but whenever I visit my relatives in India, they don't make fun of me for my brown skin nor my almond eyes because, in India, there are soo many different styles of people. While I hate dividing the country into North, South, East, and West (there's enough internal racism amongst Indians to begin with... it's like people from Seoul making fun of people from Busan), it's true that "certain looks" are found more in certain pockets in the country. examples (of course, these are celebs and most Indian women aren't as glam ): She's from a state called Kerala Former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen is born in Hyderabad to a Bengali family Indie Film actress Tabu (The Namesake) is from Hyderabad, Andra Pradesh She was born is Punjab to a Sikh family Tamil Actress She won Indian Idol and is from Assam
Guest l3lo
some people have forgotten that India was once under the rule of Great Britain and India is so closely knited with nearby asian countries too so i'm not surprised by the complexions and eyecolors of some Indian people/celebrities. Guest Inverted
some people have forgotten that India was once under the rule of Great Britain Everyone remembers, but mixing with British was rare. Anglo-Indians are almost non-existent in India (most are in Britain and Canada now): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anglo-Indian
