[HanCinema's News] "The Divine Move 2: The Wrathful" Closes in on Two Million Admissions

photo1124108.jpg

According to figures released by the Korean Film Council, the cumulative box office total for "The Divine Move 2: The Wrathful" stands at 1.838,591 admissions following its second weekend at the box office.

The movie will likely pass two million admissions this week, and probably close out at around 2.3 million admissions in the face of strong competition opening this weekend.

"The Divine Move", by contrast, closed out with around 3.65 million admissions. However, that movie opened in a far less diverse market, while "The Divine Move 2: The Wrathful" faced much stiffer competition. Additionally, reception to the newer film has been quite positive, especially since it has been five years since the release of its predecessor. Once secondary distribution kicks in, it's entirely possible that yet another Go themed action film may be in the works.

Thank you @willenette for all the updates!

I need to catch up on his movies.

I just finished watching "Stairway to Heaven" for the first time, and my eyes are still wet... What an amazing Drama, and what a reminder how great an actor is Kwon Sang-Woo. I loved how he was able to infuse this melodramatic role with so much humor.

Below is January Movie stars Brand Reputation.
Kwon Sang Woo tops the list!

Kwon Sang Woo Shows His Support For Woo Do Hwan And Lee Min Ho’s New Drama

Woo Do Hwan thanked Kwon Sang Woo for his thoughtful gift!

On February 6, Woo Do Hwan shared photos of a coffee truck sent to the set of “The King: The Eternal Monarch” (literal title).

This drama has been making headlines since its development as it’s the latest drama penned by famous writer Kim Eun Sook, whose works include blockbusters such as “Heirs,” “Descendants of the Sun,” and “Goblin.” The drama features a star-studded cast including Lee Min Ho, Kim Go Eun, Jung Eun Chae, and Woo Do Hwan.

Woo Do Hwan added the caption, “Thank you” with heart-eye emojis. In the photos, he smiled next to a banner that said, “Wishing great success for ‘The King: The Eternal Monarch!’ From actor Kwon Sang Woo.” Another banner on top of the truck said, “I’m cheering on my younger friend Do Hwan, my neighbor Lee Min Ho, and all of the actors and staff of ‘The King.’ From actor Kwon Sang Woo.”

Woo Do Hwan and Kwon Sang Woo previously worked together in the November 2019 film “The Divine Move 2: The Wrathful.”

Woo Do Hwan is currently filming “The King” which tells the story of two parallel universes — one universe resembling modern-day Korea and the other where Korea is an empire ruled by a monarch. In order to fight evil and close the door between the two worlds, the ruler of the Korean Empire must join forces with a detective who lives in modern-day Korea.

“The King” is currently slated to premiere sometime this year.

Kwon Sang Woo is the third actor in talks to join the cast of the upcoming sequel to “The Pirates.”

“The Pirates” was a hit film released in 2014 that attracted more than 8.6 million moviegoers. Plans for the sequel had originally been set in motion in 2018 with a goal of being released in 2020, but the film announced that it would be going under reorganization after lead actor Kim Nam Gil stated that he would not be returning for a second film.

Previously, Kang Ha Neul and Lee Kwang Soo were revealed to be discussing their respective participation in the film. Lee Kwang Soo’s agency, King Kong by Starship, told media outlets on March 3 that “Lee Kwang Soo is actively receiving advice on the role in ‘The Pirates’ sequel. He is still in talks regarding his participation.”

As for Kwon Sang Woo, his agency Su Company also released a statement to the media on March 3. A representative stated, “Kwon Sang Woo received the scenario for ‘The Pirates’ sequel and is actively considering the role. Right now he is only at the discussion stage.”

These Are The 5 Top-Rating K-Dramas Aired In The Philippines

Koreanovelas made their way into Philippine TV in the early 2000s.

Thanks to ABS-CBN and GMA-7, Filipinos have looked forward to watching dubbed versions of these Asian dramas produced in South Korea, and have gone crazy over the Korean stars who starred in these series.

Now popularly known as K-dramas, these shows have broken records in the ratings game, even beating station-produced local TV shows.

PEP.ph lists down five of the highest rating K-dramas aired in the Philippines.

Based on the data provided by AGB Nielsen, these shows successfully reached the 40 percent mark in the ratings.

3. Stairway To Heaven

Starring: Choi Ji Woo, Kwong Sang Woo

Philippine Airing: January 17, 2005 to April 18, 2005

TV Network: GMA-7

Peak Rating: 41.5 percent

Stairway To Heaven aired on SBS in 2003, and starred Choi Ji Woo and Kwong Sang Woo.

It tells the story of childhood friends Jodi (Choi Ji Woo) and Cholo (Kwon Sang Woo), whose friendship blossoms into love. However, a series of events leads to Jodi having amnesia, and forgetting her memories with Cholo.

Stairway To Heaven was the second drama series of Choi Ji Woo aired on GMA-7, after the success of Endless Love II: Winter Sonata in 2004. On January 17, 2005, Stairway To Heaven premiered on GMA-7's Telebabad block.

The series was well-received by the audience and enjoyed high ratings on its time slot. Its highest rating was 41.5 percent, making it the third highest-rating K-drama aired in the Philippines.

In 2009, GMA-7 produced a remake of Stairway To Heaven starring Rhian Ramos and Dingdong Dantes. The remake is currently airing again on GMA-7's Afternoon Prime block.

*** The SBS drama "Fly From Rags to Riches" announced it has confirmed the casting of actors Kwon Sang-woo and Bae Sung-woo. I'm glad that I can see KSW back on my small screen soon. "Fly From Rags to Riches" is a hot story of two men who represent the voices of judicial victims who are falsely accused. Reversal will be portrayed in a pleasant way, overturning the situation between a high school-graduate public defender who has nothing to lose and an unemployed journalist who has remarkable writing skills. Kwon Sang-woo plays Park Tae-yong, a public defender who graduated from high school. Born as the son of an island village funeral director and belatedly became a lawyer, he has no solid backing and specifications, but he is a person who has enough empathy for people with his Pacific-like interventions and sense of justice. "Fly From Rags to Riches" is expected at the end of the year.

Like us, celebrities also have to put in time and effort to keep the spark alive in their marriage. From exotic trips to surprise gifts, here are how 10 Asian celeb couples made their wedding anniversaries special.

Son Tae-young and Kwon Sang-woo

6-Asian-Celeb-Couples-Wedding-Anniversaries-Son-Tae-Young-Kwon-Sang-Woo-768x768.jpg

The Stairway to Heaven South Korean actor married actress Son Tae-young in 2008. To celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary in 2018, the couple did a photoshoot for Marie Clarie magazine in South Korea.

The shoot was in Bali and included their son Ruk-hee and daughter Ri-ho. Although Tae-young does share photos of her children on her social media, it was the first time the family did a proper photoshoot together.

For their 11th anniversary last year, the former Miss Korea uploaded a series of candid shots of the two of them on Instagram and simply added the words “11y” on the photos.
