I Have A Question! Pls Help!

regarding icon & banner formats

umm i need help. ive been trying to make my own graphics and banners and whatnot for soompi but i find it hard to save them clearly since soompi doesn't allow huge kb's. i know this is kinda of confusing but is there a way to save a graphic as jpeg but it will still come out clear? cuhs i noticed some ppls icons are saved as a jpeg format but comes out looking as if it were png. how is that possible? pls help T_T thanks os much.


*btw.
if you take a look at my avatar and banner..its saved as a GIF since i didnt want it to come out blurry & unclear with jpeg T_T
