Lee Min-ho is back with a love story that defies universes in 'The King: Eternal Monarch'

Lee Min-ho is back to set hearts aflutter.

The Korean actor will be starring in a new heart-wrenching, universe-defying love story in Netflix, titled "The King: Eternal Monarch."

Netflix has just dropped the trailer and it's already got fans hyped.

Starring alongside Kim Go-eun from "Goblin", Lee will play the role of King Lee Gon, who seeks to seal the gate between two parallel universes. He meets Kim's character who simply wants to protect the lives of other people.

In the trailer, Lee can be seen travelling to another universe and asking Kim to go with him.

The romantic fantasy drama, set to premiere on Netflix this April, is written by the writer of "Goblin" and "Descendants of the Sun," Kim Eun-suk!

Directed by Baek Sang-hoon and Jeong Jee-hyun, the series will also star Woo Do-hwan, Kim Kyung-nam, and Jung Eun-chae.

The last time Lee appeared in a drama series was back in 2016 in "Legend of the Blue Sea," a story about a mermaid from the Joseon period who finds herself in present-day Seoul and meets a man she may have known in her past. This too can still be binge-watched on Netflix!

MYM Official IG Update 032520

Let's go, to the world of dimensions.
'The King: Eternal Monarch.'  The 2 main posters will be revealed!
-You're right.
I just saw the poster, but it's already fun.
It's going to be fun.

Can you see Lee Gon's perfect character sync? Let's meet in April.
The King: The Eternal Monarch. Premieres in April!

'The King's Lee Min-ho → Kim Go-eun's main poster will be unveiled and the parallel world door will be opened

In April 2020, the door to the parallel world opens.

Two main posters of SBS 'new Friday-Saturday drama "The King-Eternal Monarch" with Lee Min-ho, Kim Go-eun, Woo Do-hwan, Kim Kyung-nam, Jeong Eun-chae and Lee Jung-jin were unveiled to invite to the brilliant "world of dimensions. "

20200325104716247iqjd.jpg

The King-Eternal Monarch, a new SBS drama set to premiere in April following "Hyena," is a fantasy romance that depicts Lee Gon, the emperor of the Korean Empire who is trying to close the gate of the dimension, and Jeong Tae- Eun, a Korean detective who is trying to protect someone's life, people, and love, through collaboration across the two worlds. Writer Kim Eun-sook, who is known for her best handwriting in Korea as a romantic comedy legend, and Baek Sang-hoon, director of "Hua Yu-School 2015" and "Descendants of the Sun," Jung Ji-hyun, director of 'WWW,' is in unison and is drawing keen attention as the best-selling drama of 2020.

In this regard, two main posters of "The King-Eternal Monarch," which will open the doors of the parallel world wide in April 2020, are drawing keen attention. First, the group main poster, with Lee Min-ho, Kim Go-eun, Woo Do-hwan, Kim Kyung-nam, Jung-chae and Lee Jung-jin, featured six characters that included the meaning of the two worlds : the Korean Empire and the Republic of Korea. With the Korean Empire emperor Lee Min-ho and Korean detective Kim Go-eun playing Jung Tae-eun, six people are changing their tune, including Cho Young-hwan, the captain of the Korean Imperial Guard, Kim Kyung-nam; the first female prime minister of the Korean Empire, Jung Eun-chae, the first Korean Empire prime minister; and Lee Jung-jin, the queen of the Korean Empire, Lee Jung-rim, the opposite of the Korean Empire.

Lee Min-ho, in an emperor's uniform located in the center, created a glorious atmosphere with his superior eyes and noble manner, while Kim Go-eun looks somewhere with a faint look. Udo-hwan, who revealed his solemnity in a cold gray tone, showed the overflowing image of God with his dignified eyes, while Jung Eun-chae, who exudes charisma, showed a mixture of desire and nobility. Also, Kim Kyung-nam is keenly aware of the situation, while Lee Jung-jin is raising expectations by giving off a gentle, purple force with dark energy.

In particular, Lee Min-ho and Kim Go-eun's "Couple Main Posters" beautifully and mysteriously captured the fateful encounter between the emperor of the Korean Empire and the detective of the Republic of Korea. Lee Min-ho and Kim Go-eun, who stand tall in a dense urban forest white horse, and Kim Min-ho, who focus only on each other in the midst of shaking lights, offer a "dreamy excitement" in a dreamy atmosphere . In addition, Lee Min-ho and Kim Go-eun's eyes met affectionately, and the moment of fate is reflected 180 degrees symmetrically, giving a strong impact. The Korean Empire, and the Republic of Korea are increasing their curiosity about the sour and exciting parallel world romance that the two will create in a different world.

``The King-Eternal Monarch'' is a strange but compelling drama, with production company Hwa & Dam Pictures saying, `` I wanted to express the fantasy romance I'd first encounter with two main posters and the parallel world I've never seen before. '' We ask for your interest in The King-Eternal Monarch, which will be aired in April.

"The King-Eternal Monarch" will air at 10 pm on Friday and Saturday in April, following "Hyena."

Welcome @Alma to the thread!

Ah, dressed in a uniform again.  Remember how dashing he was in the pilot uniform in LBS? Hey, there's another category for our favorites game--favorite uniform!  Even though you figure he's the one in white, you recognize his posture and the way he tilts his head.

The-King-Eternal-Monarch-Poster-2.jpg?re

  • Genre: Fantasy Romance
  • Main Cast: Lee Min-ho & Kim Go-eun
  • Predecessor: Hyena

(Premiere date unconfirmed) The King: Eternal Monarch is probably the biggest Korean drama to premiere this year. And by biggest, I mean to say millions of people around the world are eagerly waiting for its release. That’s a given, considering the immense popularity of lead actors Lee Min-ho and Kim Go-eun, as well as writer Kim Eun-sook, who penned the record-breaking dramas Mr. SunshineGoblin, and Descendants of the Sun. The story seems promising, about the emperor (Lee Min-ho) of a modern monarchy Korea and a detective from a democratic Korea that is found in a parallel universe. The two set out on a mission to close a door between their two worlds that poses a threat to humankind. Woo Do-hwan and Jung Eun-chae play the secondary lead roles. See the first stills of the main cast here.

What is the plot of The King: Eternal Monarch?

Set across two parallel universes, the first greatly resembles Korea as we know it today. In the opposing universe, the country of Korea is an empire, ruled by a single but kind monarch. When evil forces begin to plot and the door between the two worlds is open, the Korean emperor enlists the help of a detective from the opposite world to help save their worlds.

Who are the cast members of The King: Eternal Monarch?

The following cast members have been confirmed to star in The King: Eternal Monarch:

South Korean actress Kim Go Eun returns to a leading role in a television series, four years after her star performance in Goblin.

Will The King Eternal Monarch be a record-breaking K-Drama?

It’s going to take something special for a new K-Drama series to smash into the highest-rated Korean dramas in public broadcast.

The King Eternal Monarch will need almost half of all the viewership in South Korea to reach the top 50. At it currently stands, the k-drama series will need at least 45%.

Only six k-dramas between 2010 and 2019 were able to break into the top 50.

It’s a tall order to make some waves, but The King: Eternal Monarch has every chance of being a great success.

45%. Are they mad? That is unrealistic . Even bof never crossed 40%. By that logic heirs,  my love from star are not blockbuster's either.

This show reaching anywhere from 25 to 30% as peak rating will be blockbuster in today's time. That is the target sbs must be looking for.

The author is either some dumb person or setting it up for bashing.

@Deepakmahajan -I totally agree with you- all this speculation about ratings seems a bit unfair to me. From what I can gather SK viewing percentages are based on just a few thousand people who have TV set meters provided by AGB and TMs.
I guess that SBS have paid Studio Dragon a lot of money to show The King in SK and will therefore want to attract as many advertisers as possible which is why they want high local viewing figures.

It will be interesting to find out how many will view it on Netflix.

( A Korean drama My Secret Terrius is the 5th most watched programme on Netflix UK this week so more and more people are discovering Kdramas)
