I've read a number of similar comments.  I think we are seeing different looks to LMH.  A lot of people also think he's overrated.  I think the opposite, that he's underrated.  People think he's just a pretty face.  Well, he is, but he actually is a very good actor who works very hard at his craft.

I came across an article recently about the 2015 Blue Dragon awards. LMH had just filmed Gangnam. Receiving a most popular actor award the host actually asked

him “You’re so handsome and some say your performance tends to be veiled due to your good looks” and asked him if he had “any secrets to conquering such perceptions” Min ho  who had ( in my opinion) just given one of the best performances  of his life in Gangnam replied “no” and that he still needed to work on his acting and was trying hard to perform better.

It was very unfair and I’m sure must have upset him inside but of course he remained totally professional and polite.

Lee Min-ho, who devoted himself to "The King" for eight months from the harsh winter to the warm spring, shines with his acting fighting spirit as the drama heads to climax.

In the SBS Friday-Saturday drama "The King: Eternal Monarch," which aired on the 30th, Lee Min-ho, who played the role of Emperor Lee Gon of the Korean Empire, is causing "the Emperor's Disease" with his performance mixed with his character. He mesmerizes viewers with his mature emotional performance with sincerity, together with acting craftsmanship on horseback riding, swordsmanship, and skillful handling of firearms.

In particular, the 13th episode of the show last week was the best. Lee Min-ho led the show by completing the ending of the all-time "great twist" with his relentless performance. Lee Gon (Lee Min-ho), realized that the man who saved him 25 years ago was his present self. Tension further amplified as he drops unconscious due to Luna (Kim Go-eun)'s poison.

From the moment he faced the great truth of his life to the process of losing consciousness, viewers praised Lee Min-ho's delicate and dense acting fighting spirit that lasted for about four minutes. His silent stare at Luna, who pretends to be Jung Tae-eul (Kim Go-eun), casts a chill of tension, and the shock and confusion of realizing the identity of his savior 25 years ago by a reflection of himself in the mirror, sent heart rates soaring. And Lee Min-ho's soulful performance on the floor, groaning in pain, culminated with his words, "this was how it was completed."

The ending scene of the 13th episode was a thrilling catharsis, coupled with scenes from the night of treason in the first episode. In the last scene where the man's face hidden in the mask was revealed, Lee Min-ho's intense eyes doubled the thrill of the revelation. Right after the show, comments poured in - "Lee Min Ho's ending shock, goosebumps." "Lee Min Ho's face is turning red, and it feels like he drank poison. "It's the best of all time," "I can't imagine anyone playing the emperor other than Lee Min-ho," and "the emperor's force is the real one." In the end, Lee Min-ho's revelation, in which everything was a double-track from the beginning, has become a driving force that cannot be missed until the end.

Lee Min-ho is leading the immersion of the emperor Lee Gon himself until the end. He is shaking the hearts of women all over the world, giving off his "Born-to-Be-Emperor" charm with his gentle yet bold charisma, as well as his elegant visuals. Above all, Lee Min-ho's eyes and voice, which are deeper than before, are doubling the affection of the parallel world romance, drawing many people into the emperor. It gives us a glimpse of the actor's meticulous internal and external analysis for his concentration on the character itself. Episode 14 of SBS 'The King' will air at 10 p.m. on Friday, June 5 (Fri.)

*** The King, what a journey it’s been. The drama postponed episode 13 to Saturday, moving 14 to next week. It might’ve been to the drama’s detriment, because 13’s numbers dropped to 7.7 percent. This makes me a bit sad, actually, since the episodes are getting better and better for me. Ah well, it is what it is, right?

Lee Min Ho Figures Explosive Discovery In Episode 13 Of “The King: Eternal Monarch”

the-king4-660x400.png

This week’s episode of The King: Eternal Monarch stunned audiences as the mystery surrounding the identity of Lee Gon’s savior was finally unveiled!

The King: Eternal Monarch continues its momentum by stirring things up this week! Episode 13 laid the groundwork for the conflicts the characters will confront in the latter end of the series.

Spoiler

This includes the suspicious partnership between Goo Seo Ryung and Lee Lim, the ill-fated nature of Lee Gon and Jung Tae Eul’s relationship, and the inevitable battle between Lee Gon and Lee Lim.

the king

The Return

Following Tae Eul’s kidnapping to the Kingdom of Corea and after her recovery, she and Lee Gon realize it is time for her return to the Republic. Before leaving, the couple contemplates their destiny with one another and Lee Lim’s threats.

Tae Eul explains that she found Lee Lim’s possible forest he uses to travel between worlds. However, Lee Gon explains that the more times the door between the two worlds open, the longer time stands still. Now, time will freeze for an hour. This puts his security team at risk if he asks them to guard the forest, as Lee Lim could hurt them if time stood still and he was the only one who could move.

Lee Gon thinks that the solution would be to reunite the two halves of the magical flute but worries the door between both worlds may close forever as a result. Tae Eul requests that for now, Lee Gon should focus on the present instead of worrying about events that have not happened yet.

The two travel to the halfway world with Eun Seop, who is returning home to the Republic as well. Tae Eul plants more flowers in the halfway world, continuing her experiment to see if life could thrive there.

Upon their arrival home, Eun Seop and Tae Eul reunite with their loved ones. Eun Seop is greeted by his cheerful siblings who are relieved to see him, as they were not fooled by Jo Yeong. Moreover, Na Ri was similarly excited to see him because Yeong was not convincing her of his identity either.

Meanwhile, Tae Eul is relieved to see her father again. However, she is concerned when he is confused. According to her father, she has been home this entire time. Tae Eul soon realizes that Luna is in the Republic and has been living her life in disguise.

Yeong reconnects with Lee Gon, who has accompanied Tae Eul back to the Republic. He is grateful to see the King, however, he worries about the potential between Lee Gon and Tae Eul. Yeong is convinced that the couple is doomed and cannot be together because of the distance between the two worlds.

The Doppelganger

Luna begins to stir up trouble after her arrival to the Republic of Korea. Taking Tae Eul’s place while she was in the Kingdom of Corea, Luna begins to experience her doppelganger’s life. She meets Tae Eul’s father and lives in her house. For the first time, Luna feels what it is like to live in a safe, stable home.

Moreover, she encounters Kang Shin Jae. Shin Jae thinks he is speaking to Tae Eul, not Luna. Luna surprisingly plants a kiss on Shin Jae and disappears. Shortly after, he is approached by the newly returned Tae Eul. Quickly realizing it was not Tae Eul who kissed him, he leaves, emotional and taken aback.

Tae Eul calls her old cellphone which Luna now uses, demanding a meeting. She also warns Luna not to harm those close to Tae Eul. Luna explains that if that was her plan, she would have hurt them already.

Luna promises they shall meet soon, indicating that she has a plan brewing with Lee Lim’s guidance.

The Alliance

Prime Minister Goo Seo Ryung continues her ambitious plans to become Empress. Though Lee Gon is blunt with Seo Ryung, admitting his love for Tae Eul, she is even more motivated to achieve power in the midst of this challenge. She admits to the King that she believed it was best to be by his side so that she could see him better, accessing power and control. However, in light of his new relationship, she is now his opposition.

During this confrontation, Seo Ryung’s scar appears. Lee Gon realizes she has travelled to the Republic and is therefore working with Lee Lim.

Tae Eul encounters Seo Ryung in the hallway as Seo Ryung leaves the palace. She confirms her suspicions that Koo Euna, Seo Ryung’s doppelganger she met in the Republic, was actually Seo Ryung in disguise.

In an effort to thwart Seo Ryung’s growing power in the Kingdom, Lee Gon joins forces with a lobbyist who reveals Seo Ryung’s voicemail asking her ex-husband to help her find Lee Gon’s traitors. She is expelled as Prime Minister due to her crimes.

Angrily, she leaves the office but promises that this will not stop her.

The discoveries

This week began with a startling revelation. The cliff-hanger from the previous episode’s ending is solved as Lady Noh reveals more of her past to Tae Eul. She explains that during her childhood, she was approached by a man who asked if she would like to go to a place without war. That man was the Emperor’s grandfather.

She ended up travelling to the Kingdom of Corea and has not heard anything about her original home since then. Tae Eul sadly explains that the North and South of Korea are now divided. Lady Noh accepts this news sadly but deems this as her fate. Lady Noh says just as she has ended up in the Kingdom of Corea, this is now Tae Eul’s fate too.

The largest discovery of the episode was Lee Gon’s realization that the savior who saved him from death as a child was simply himself. Lee Gon received plain, civilian clothing from Tae Eul as a gift. He cannot shake the feeling that he has seen these clothes before.

Lee Gon tries the clothes on in his hotel room. He is surprised by a visit from Tae Eul, who brought him dinner. Lee Gon quickly realizes it is not Tae Eul, but Luna, who has stopped to visit. However, he realized too late, and Luna has poisoned him with the drink she brought him.

Beginning to feel queasy, Lee Gon catches a glimpse of himself in the mirror. He has a flashback to his past and realizes his savior wore the same exact outfit he is in. As he begins to collapse from Luna’s poison, Lee Gon has the realization that his savior is himself.

"The King: Eternal Monarch": Lee Gon shocked after learning who saved him in rebel night 25 years ago

0004216093_001_20200531082704554.jpg?typ

Spoiler

In the drama "The King: Eternal Monarch" Lee Min Ho and Lee Jung Jin showed their powerful charisma and captivated small screen audiences while revealing clues about the secret of the night of rebellion.

In episode 13 of the Fri-Sat drama "The King: The Eternal Monarch" (SBS, scriptwriter Kim Eun Sook, director Baek Sang Hoon, Jung Ji Hyun) aired on May 30, Lee Gon (played by Lee Min Ho) fell down due to Luna's poison and was endangered while he and Lee Rim (played by Lee Jung Jin) just found out about the mysterious man that appeared in the rebel night 25 years earlier.

In the drama, Lee Gon (played by Lee Min Ho) noticed the lightning scars on the bodies of Lee Rim's follower who was arrested in the Republic of Korea then executed and those who committed the crime of killing parents. Therefore, he realized that it was the sign of a person's death in the other universe. After predicting the collaboration of Lee Rim and Goo Seo Ryung (played by Jung Eun Chae) - who has lightning scars, Lee Gon publicized the conversation related to the treason between Goo Seo Ryung and her ex-husband KU Corporation chairman Choi (played by Tae In Ho), and ordered to suspend all of her work as the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Corea. Then, Goo Seo Ryung brought along the shoes bought in the Republic of Korea and disappeared.

After many calculations, Lee Gon discovered that when the dimension gate opens, time will freeze and the more times it opens, the longer time will freeze. And up to now, the frozen time is over an hour. Also, Lee Gon presumed that the time that is frozen when the dimension gate opens is the crack caused by using only the energy of one half of Manpasikjeok - the magical flute that was split in half. He also believed that things would go back to normal if these two halves were combined into one. After saying "I have to stop Lee Rim from getting a half of the flute" and planning to go back 25 years, Lee Gon told Jang Tae Eul (played by Kim Go Eun) about his hypothesis that there might exist not only the axis of space but also the axis of time in the dimension gate, which can explain how he picked up her ID 25 years ago.

Lee Gon told Jung Tae Eul that once ran in the dimension gate, but no matter how long he ran, he couldn't reach the end. He also said that, unlike the coin that could levitate in that gate, something with a life like a seed would sink. After that, Jung Tae Eul expressed her anxiety about the dimension gate being closed forever when the two flute pieces merge into one, but she added courage to Lee Gon by saying, "That line may be cut off, but on the contrary, it could also be extended. Because there are so many unexplainable things going on. It's right in front of your eyes. Unexplainable things. Like the fact that I love you Lee Gon."

Then, Jung Tae Eul, Jo Eun Seop (played by Woo Do Hwan) and Lee Gon passed the gate of space to the Republic of Korea. Jung Tae Eul gave Lee Gon a black jacket so that he wouldn't be recognized. What makes the audience curious is Lee Gon stared at the jacket and said, "This jacket, I might have seen it somewhere."

On the other hand, Luna (played by Kim Go Eun) - the girl that looks exactly like Jung Tae Eul - shook hands with Lee Rim, caused chaos when breaking into Jung Tae Eul's house, used Jung Tae Eul's phone and police badge, kissed Kang Shin Jae (played by Kim Kyung Nam) while Jung Tae Eul was not in the Republic of Korea. While waiting for Jo Young (played by Woo Do Hwan) to go out to buy soju to drink together before Jo Young returned to the Kingdom of Corea, Lee Gon mistook Luna for Jung Tae Eul so he let her into the hotel room and drank beer with her. However, after looking at Luna, Lee Gon discovered that he was deceived, "I noticed anxiety in your eyes. Something that Jung Tae Eul does not have. You are not Jung Tae Eul." After obtaining the new police badge that Jung Tae Eul lost in the palace from Luna's pocket, Lee Gon could not hide his panic face at the image of himself in the black outfit Jung Tae Eul gave him reflecting in the mirror. He uttered, "Ha..! So that's how it is."

At the same time, at the Kingdom of Corea, Lee Rim's face went twisted when he passed by a panel printed the image of Lee Gon in imperial robe, followed by the narratives as if Lee Gon and Lee Rim were speaking to each other, "That guy has a tall stature", "Good at shooting, knows Cheonjongo's streets like the back of his hand", "Knows who the enemy is". That moment, Lee Gon was shocked to discover that the one who saved him when he was 8 years old on the night of the rebellion was himself, "The one who fought for me..... the one who saved me was me!" Also at that moment, Lee Rim realized that the one who stopped him was Lee Gon and said with a trembling voice, "It was you! The one who saved you was you!" In addition, just when Lee Gon stopped saying, "So that's how it is", he collapsed because of the poison, thereby the ending scene at the perilous moment has intensified the intense emotions of the audience when signaling a huge danger.

Reading this actually got me so angry! His performance was brilliant! How rude of the host to focus on his looks instead of his performance! I’m saying this because lmh completely shed the pretty boy image in Gangnam blues. One of this best performance indeed and the host dare discredits him with such a comment? I want to give lmh a hug. It must have been upsetting to hear but he handled it so well.
