Thank you so much Syntyche. What an interesting interview and it seems obvious from this one- and the one in Officeil that he has done some deep thinking over the past two years.

I think he is a fascinating person- obviously he is gorgeous and a fantastic actor - but I like how he can be serious and sophisticated one minute and then really playful the next- and I love his loyalty to his fans.

I wondered what is it about him that draws you all to him?

Hi Lindyloo, my main reason why I really adore him is - LMH is so very warm towards his fans & this is so real since you can feel the sincerity.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE HERE!

There’s lots on twitter today that LMH has been picked to advertise  a Cellreturn LED beauty mask. The firm Celiton want to expand into overseas markets and have chosen LMH because of his huge international fan base. Apparently there will be TV ads starting from Jan 20th.

The Return of Female Cosmetics Advertising King...Lee Min-ho as the Cellreturn Model.

Cellreturn pick Lee Min-ho to tap into Asian markets.

Lee Min-ho has been selected as an advertising model for the beauty device company Cellreturn. Cosmetics models of popular male stars are expanding from skin care to hair, body care, color, and beauty devices.

According to advertisement and cosmetics industries on the 10th, Cellreturn, which specializes in beauty devices, selected Lee as a new model for 4th generation Platinum LED Mask.

Lee Min-ho, who recently completed his military service, is set to return to the drama "The King:The Eternal Monarch" by Kim Eun-sook after a long hiatus. Lee Min-ho played the role of F4 Koo Jun-pyo in the 2009 drama "Boys Over Flowers," forming a female fandom. He served as an advertisement model for Etude House and Innisfree affiliated with AmorePacific.

Lee will work as a new model for Cellreturn along with existing models Kang So-ra, Park Seo-joon and Yeom Jung-ah. Cellreturn plans to pick Lee Min-ho as an additional model to speed up its efforts to tap into the Asian market.

Advertising industry sources analyzed that the strategy of employing male models in the beauty industry was the result of targeting two key target groups, including men who emerged as new consumers with women age  30 to 40 with great consumption power.

Takahi weibo update 010820

(Google translated)

Mr. Lee Min Ho is really a big boy to me.  Thanks to Lee Min Ho, I met many staff from other brands Lee spoke for and became friends.  Everyone's evaluation of Lee is similar - handsome, long legs, and childish.  I remember that when he came to China to participate in other brand activities, the team was taken to the hotel where he stayed.  As soon as he saw the hotel's big bed, he fluttered, hid himself in the quilt, and then suddenly lifted the quilt to reveal his face and grinned.  In the words of a friend, he never thought he would do this, as if he saw his son.

@Lindyloo421  It sounds like an easy question, but for me, it is not.  After following him for years (geez, has it really been that long?lol), I think that he is amazingly humble, despite his popularity.  I also find his shyness really cute.  And there's something about him that draws you in.

MACKEREL RUN EP 1

I'll be honest, this episode was a hard watch for me.  It's trying too hard to be funny with the exaggerated expressions.  So Cha Gong Chan has been at the school for 2 years and because he lost a soccer match, everyone wants him out of the school?  I like the Baek Hyun character.  LMH was sure skinny.

By the way, Takahi is a top manager of innisfree China.

@Lindyloo421  I was drawn in by his interviews. :D The first video about him I download in my computer was his QQ interview in China. But definitely because of his acting, his acting pushed me to search everything about him on internet, and after I saw his interviews on Youtube, I liked this boy very much.

Spoiler

Considering the comedy (slapstick, even) genre of this kdrama, I don't know if it was intentional and he was directed to have those exaggerated facial expressions. But the actor LMH as we know now can be seen in the serious parts. He did already have that acting prowess even at the early stages of his career. It must be fun for him to act in a drama about his favorite sport.

LMH in Mackerel Run episode 1:

Thanks for all your comments!

K-dramas have come a long way.    The raw material of LMH has come a long way too.  That's one thing I like about him:  he works diligently and keeps getting better and better!

(I hope South Korea has moved away from corporal punishment.)

. I am drawn to him because for such a top star with millions of fans, he is so down to earth and humble

Spoiler

I saw this previously, it is really bad but I blame the directing as it is awful. Making it slapstick and silly. They all have to make to funny faces to be funny. The only ones that did not have to act stupid is the female lead and Baek Hyun character.

Even then, there are parts where LMH is adorable. When he told his mom that he wanted to stop school and his mom gave him the look. His response was cute. His laugh is cute too. He was skinny then. He was skinny in BOF too actually.

This series was supposed to be 16 or 24 episodes but it was bad so they ended it at the 8th episode.(low ratings) It was not a good time for LMH. They treated him badly and probably short-changed him. Wonder how they feel about how they treated him then. He once said that on one of his dramas, the crew left without informing him and he was waiting alone. That was rude. I have a feeling it might have been Mackerel Run. I do like the story line though. It could have been good if it had a better director. I guess it was small budget drama because they picked a no-name rookie actor. His first lead role. I wonder if it was Moon Chae Won's first lead role and  Park Bo Young's first role too? She got more famous later on and I do like her. Park Bo Young also got famous. Park Bo Young acted with LMH twice. They must have thought he had potential to give him a lead role.

Interesting tit-bit from Wikipedia:-

Mackerel Run (Korean달려라 고등어; RRDalryeora Godeungeo) is a 2007 South Korean television series that aired on SBS from May 12 to June 30, 2007 on Saturdays at 16:40 for 8 episodes.

The high school sitcom was originally planned as a 24-episode series, but low viewership ratings in the 3-4% range led to its early cancellation.[1]

After cast members Lee Min-ho (Boys Over Flowers), Moon Chae-won (Painter of the Wind), and Park Bo-young (Scandal Makers) rose to fame in 2008-2009, cable network tvN aired reruns of the show at 11:00 beginning February 28, 2009.[2]

Lee, Moon and Park would later work together again in the 2008 comedy film Our School's E.T.; they were cast because director Park Kwang-chun had reportedly enjoyed watching Mackerel Run.[3]

I found the first episode of Mackerel Run to be funny and LMH to be endearing. Whatever hardships he went through in this series and his other earlier efforts gave him good experience for what came later. He had to be very determined and tough to succeed. I read that he gave his mother lots of credit for encouraging him when he was going to audition after audition with no callbacks. Then many ups and downs of series like MR that were less than successful, at least in terms of ratings. I was recently reading some early reviews of the big hit BOF, and people were talking about this unknown newcomer who was making a big splash in the role of Jun Pyo. I just had to laugh; he'd fought his way through years of experience in the industry by time BOF became a hit.

Thanks everyone for your comments on ep  1 of Mackerel Run.  For me, I think he improved tremendously (although I should wait to see the end of MR) in terms of acting, by BOF.  More on my thoughts when we get to our favorites.  @CallieP  I also wonder how the PD and whoever treated LMH badly, feel now.  I guess it goes to show, that you should never treat anyone badly, you never know what may happen in the future.

Hi CarolynH,  ohhhh..... was there a PD who treated him badly? You know, my principle in life is this : Treat everyone with kindness--not because they are kind-hearted, but because you are. One of the greatest gifts we can give another is kindness. If someone is in need, lend a helping hand. Don't do it only for the people you like and respect--that's easy--but also for the ones who drive you crazy and those you don't even know. True kindness lies in the act of giving without the expectation of getting something in return. Don't try to make yourself great by making someone else look small. Treat people the way you want to be treated and life will instantly get better.  I can see that LMH is such a very warm & kind person - that's why, he's blessed!

Just finished the 1st Ep of Mackerel Run for the first time..haha he's come a long way indeed ! He was funny in some parts, I almost laughed off my chair in his heroic rescue to Moon Chae Won's red scarf but fell into the sea of Mackerel fishes. Now i wonder if that's why the drama was named Mackarel Run.  I agreed that the overall dramas were a bit exaggerated, i guess partly it was required to produce the comedic effect .

It's fun to see LMH's younger self, totally different from who he is today. Nevertheless the anger portrayed through his eyes when he was beaten up and forced to leave the team and school...that bit to me is still what he was good at and has developed to become his strength (reminds me of his eyes acting in the ending of Ep10 LOTBS when he regained his memories and ran off the street looking for SC)

oh dear.. i miss him terribly. can't wait to see his eyes acting again !

Hi gtLmh, thanks for sharing the picture - I very much agree with you. He looks COOLER in all black. You will never go wrong with "Black" - This is the shade that won’t clash & won’t add pounds. And it’s surprisingly easy to pull off. Investing in black clothing could actually save you money since everything goes together.
