Top 10 most-searched 2022 K-dramas on Google

As the end of the year is approaching, Google has revealed its rewind of 2022, including the top 10 most-searched K-dramas.

Google recently revealed a comprehensive compilation of its search data within 2022 in all sorts of categories, ranging from politics, soccer, games, to entertainment. And the Top 10 most-searched K-dramas of the year have also been unveiled.

10. Pachinko

Ranking No.10 is “Pachinko”, the drama that marked a grand comeback for Hallyu star Lee Min Ho. Starring various respected actors and actresses, the drama drew attention the day it was announced, and also introduced Lee Min Ho’s first villain role.

While the actor delivered an outstanding performance in “Pachinko”, the series was exclusive to OTT platform Apple TV+, and thus did not manage to achieve huge commercial success. Nevertheless, it was a beautiful and well-executed project that deserves to be on many watch lists.

I'm not surprised that Pachinko was snubbed by Western Award Bodies like Emmys, HCA and now Golden Globes. Racism and corruption play big roles in these awards. I was reading about how 'Emily in Paris' bribed the Golden Globe voters to get nomination and recently saw how HBO sent such extravagant PR packages to critics/voters for 'White Lotus.' These Awards show are now far from fairness and objectivity, politics is more dominant.

Apple TV was not doing anything extravagant to promote Pachinko during the awards season, they only did it for Severance, so its not surprising that Pachinko won't receive nominations from major awards. We as LMH fans just have to accept this fact and it's best that we don't have high expectations on this. :)

I really agree to what this Minoz said bellow:

Pachinko is not a K-drama but it's also not really accepted as 'Hollywood' show, it is something on its own. LMH has been a trendsetter since the beginning, so we just need to be happy and support what he chooses, especially Pachinko, as it is a very meaningful work for him. LMH said himself that he's happy and satisfied to see viewers responses to Pachinko.

This is interesting, that Apple pushed Severance but not Pachinko.  There wasn't much promotion for Pachinko actually, I noticed that.  If Apple is not proud of Pachinko, I am not surprised the Globes and Emmy ignored them, even with all the rave reviews, they were snubbed and that Emily in Paris got a nomination. The drama is fun but not Golden Globe material.  I like the supporting cast but don't think much of the actress acting as Emily. What an outrage!

Best Actor in a TV Series (Drama)

  1. Bob Odenkirk — “Better Call Saul” (AMC)
  2. Dominic West — “The Crown” (Netflix)
  3. Jason Bateman — “Ozark” (Netflix)
  4. Adam Scott — “Severance” (Apple TV+)
  5. Diego Luna — “Andor” (Disney+)

Alternate: Lee Min-ho, “Pachinko” (Apple TV+)

Anyone can explain @willenettewhat does alternate mean?

@CallieP it means a standby to some degree, which will (typically) lead audience members to believe they're not getting a lesser show. Someone can't be an "alternate" with little or no name value. An alternate is someone that's cast in a show in a specific role, but will not perform every date. Typically, many shows use alternates in their cast. It's usually someone who covers larger roles, perhaps even the lead.  To simplify : Alternate Best Actor can be a Supporting Actor, the one who has a dominating performance.  :heart2:

Great news!  Two influential publications in the US.

Can we find the original articles?   The first one shows Rolling stone but the second one wasn't clear that it was NYT.

When I clicked see translation for LMH's IG post, it reads "Ronda Rousey is the coldest." :joy:  Not sure what's up with that :surprisedwut:

@CarolynH  isn't she a professional wrestler? I guess he was referring the time when she & Kevin Hart linked-up in his show called Cold as Balls where his guests show up and have a conversation while submerged in an ice bath. Maybe LMH was watching that show where Ronda appeared on that episode for a much-needed soak. :ohboy2:
