I hope so @ATW.  We need to start making a list of where we want to go.  Wouldn't it be something if LMH just happens to be filming?

Is Gwanghwamun Square the first scene with LYS  and Kim Nana appear together in CH?  I read Busan is known for their seafood and has a great seafood market.

Even though I suspect it's touristy, I'd want to go to Namsan tower.  I'd also like to go to Jeju Island.  How close can you get to the DMZ?

***********

@leeminhosny I noticed that some of the links on the early pages of this forum no longer work.  Is that what you are referring to or other links?  Thanks for saving whatever you can

@CarolynH, yes, in City Hunter, Lee MinHo first main scene in South Korea is located in Gwanghwamun Square. He was filmed in the middle of the square near the water fountain where Park MinYoung was giving samples to passerby. ... Right you are - it is their first encounter filmed in that place  at night. So, CH & TKEM had the same location for the opening scenes - h   ahaha. Lee Yoon-

sung makes a stop here when arriving in Seoul in episode 1 of City Hunter.    :wut:

Yes, true - Busan is known for their seafood. The seafood market is called Jagalchi Fish Market where there are a wide range of vendors to choose from.  This is the biggest one in South Korea. Busan is a good destination for those seeking a more laid back atmosphere than Seoul. English in Busan is not quite as widely understood as it is in Seoul although still people should know enough to help you out. Taxi drivers are unlikely to have much English knowledge, although there is a translation service the taxi driver can call up if needed. You need to stay at least 2-days in Busan because it is so large and spread out. It is undoubtedly one of Korea's greatest travel destinations. If you want to enjoy the nightlife in Korea then Seoul is definitely the correct choice. If you want to enjoy the scenic views of the Korean coast, then Busan is much better than Seoul in that regard.  :Megalol:

N Seoul Tower, also commonly known as Namsan Tower, is an iconic Seoul landmark that provides bird's-eye views of the city. It's very NICE there, riding in a cable car - hahaha. This place is a must-see in Seoul.  :ohboy2:

When it comes to nature, Jeju Island has it all. Once you are on the island it continues to be an inexpensive destination, and accommodations are ridiculously cheap. It is known for its tourism so there are plenty of accommodation options on every part of the place, which keeps costs low. Here, you need at least 3-days. 3 days is enough to see the major sites of Jeju:heart2beat:

You can only visit the DMZ with a tour, as it has restricted civilian access and requires a mandatory military escort. Many tours require reservation 2-5 days in advance, so check ahead. It is impossible to see everything within the span of one day, so tours to the region are generally divided into 3 main types – those that visit the DMZ, those that visit the JSA and those that visit both. If you have only a few hours to spare for a half-day sojourn, a DMZ tour might be more suitable. But if you have an entire day free, a DMZ + JSA Tour would offer a more comprehensive understanding of the region. Parts of the drama Descendants of the Sun was filmed at a section of the DMZ called the Camp Greaves Experience Centre. DMZ is a tightly-controlled, sensitive and highly militarized region. Bags are not permitted in certain parts of the DMZ, visitors are encouraged to pack light and avoid bringing valuable items (including zoom lenses, which are not permitted within the area). Military-printed attire should also not be worn. Do note that the JSA is not open to children under the age of 11. :heart3:

This is great information @willenette!  Thank you!  I'm surprised that you need 3 days in Jeju.  I was under the impression, from watching dramas, that the island is small-similar to Hawaii where you can drive the entire island in a couple of hours. I would have also guess that accommodations are more expensive given the touristy nature.  The DMZ sounds fascinating.  I think Namsan Tower is a must because of the cable car scene in BOF.

************

In case anyone has Amazon Prime, but not Netflix, I discovered that BOF is on Amazon Prime!  I don't watch Amazon Prime as often as Netflix, but I check occasionally to see if City Hunter and Faith are available.  Currently, they are not available in the US:criesariver:

Thanks for the info @willenette   I have been to Sapporo @willenette end autumn in 2019, just before the outbreak.  Yes, I am saving now, hoping to cover Seoul, Busan, Jeju and certain areas in Honshu and Kyushu regions, including Hiroshima and Yokohama.  Due to our low exchange rates, Japanese Yen and Korean Won are expensive to me.  Was supposed to go Korea in Spring 2020 - we even have planned our itinerary but have to defer due to the pandemic.  :tears:  Guess just have to wait and pray the world heal soon.

@Min2206, ohh..............I've been to Sapporo, too. Their ramen is so good, right? I enjoyed my journey there. Summer in Hokkaido is the best. Definitely worth visiting this place. I spent (4) days there. In Sapporo, the summers are comfortable. :1646639759_ezgif.com-gif-maker(1):

Dear Oppa: An Indian fan thanks Lee Min Ho for being the reason of her mom’s happiness in a touching letter

In the latest edition of Dear Oppa, Sukhvindar Kaur Chadda from India dedicates her sweet letter to the actor Lee Min Ho. Read her letter below.

When people say celebrities have the power to change a life, they really do. From singers to actors to athletes, public figures inspire and motivate people like no other. One such person who has been influencing people and making them smile, is the Korean actor Lee Min Ho. He celebrated his 15th debut anniversary in May. Unbeknown to him, he has inspired many people to smile, laugh, love, be loved, and even became a friend forever, through all his dramas. Termed as the Hallyu King, he has great shows such as ‘Boys over Flowers’, ‘The King: Eternal Monarch’, ‘The Legend of The Blue Sea’ and more in his roster.

Today's heartwarming letter in our Dear Oppa series has been penned by Sukhvindar Kaur Chadda from India to Lee Min Ho. Read her letter below.

Dear Mr. Lee,

I would like to thank you for making my mom happy at the time of the pandemic. She is an introvert and mostly busy with household chores. She never tells us but sometimes I can see the worry and stress on her face. During the pandemic when we were busy with our work from home she was alone in a house full of people. She doesn't have friends whom she could call and talk to.

At that time I was a fan of Kdramas and being her daughter I too am an introvert so I could understand how she felt. So I introduced you to her and believe me if I say that she fell in love with you. I mean not literally but she loved watching you. After the day's work is over she takes her phone and sits in one corner and watches you showing your magic on screen. You made her smile and enjoy. She is not that educated but she reads the subtitles and tries to understand.

You're her favourite hero. She watched "Faith" twice, even "The Eternal Monarch". You're a magician that made her smile and I would be grateful for that.

Thank You so much,

Yours,

Sukhvindar Kaur Chadda.

With his iconic role in the global hit, Boys Over Flowers, Lee Min-ho is recognised as the actor that originally brought forth the Hallyu wave beyond Korean shores. He is also one of the biggest endorsers and highest-paid actors in the business. Which of his shows are your favourites?

Hallyu superstar Lee Min-ho has the face of a charming prince ready to brave all sorts of storms for the love of his life — that's what his fans think at least.

Born 22 June 1987, Min-ho gained widespread fame through his role Gu Jun-pyo in Boys Over Flowers (2009), a series based on the Japanese shōjo manga Hana Yori Dango. The show's high viewership ratings across South Korea landed Min-ho several modelling and acting stints that made his career flourish until present time.

Min-ho's talent was eventually recognised when he was given the Best New Actor title at the 45th Baeksang Arts Awards. He is the first Korean actor to get a waxed figure at the Madame Tussauds museum and even made it to the list of the highest-paid K-Drama actors of 2021.

In this article, Tatler lists some of Min-ho's most notable movies and series.

1/7
The King: Eternal Monarch

Lee Min-ho in The King: Eternal Monarch | Photo: Netflix

A handsome man riding a white horse is a picture you can only see in every girl's fairytale fantasy. Luckily, the producers of The King: Eternal Monarch has brought this dream to life with Min-ho.

Released in 2020, the series follows the mind-boggling time adventure of Emperor Lee Gon (Min-ho), the king who rules the fabled country of Corea. In his journey, he meets and falls in love with detective Jung Tae-eul (Kim Go-eun) whom he recognizes from an identification card he obtained as a child during his father's assassination.

PS: The best part of the series is in episode 11 (wink, wink).

2/7
Legend Of The Blue Sea

Min-ho and Jun Ji-hyun are Korea's biggest Hallyu stars and if you're wondering how they'll do as on-screen lovers, you should watch Legend Of The Blue Sea. The show circles around the bitter-sweet love story of Shim Cheong (Jun Ji-hyun), a mermaid, and Heo Joon-jae (Min-ho), a con artist.

3/7
The Heirs

The Heirs follows a group of rich, privileged high school students who are preparing themselves to take over their respective family businesses. In this series, Min-ho plays the role of Kim Tan, an heir to Jeguk Group, a large Korean conglomerate.

Kim Tan was exiled to America by his brother Kim Won (Choi Jin-hyuk), who tries to take over the family business. During his stay in the US, Kim Tan meets and falls in love with Cha Eun-sang (Park Shin-hye).

Personal Taste

Son Ye-jin and Lee Min-ho in Personal Taste

Perhaps one of Min-ho's most underrated shows is Personal Taste, a 2010 South Korean series that follows the story of Park Kae-in (CLOY's Son Ye-jin), a furniture designer who lives together with Min-ho's character, Jeon-Jin-ho, an architect who she assumes is gay.

5/7
City Hunter

Lee Min-ho in City Hunter

Okay, we get it. Min-ho's hairstyle in his hit series City Hunter did not age well. But the 2011 action-packed show is still worthy of a rewatch. It follows Lee Yoon-sung (Min-ho) who goes by the codename "City Hunter".

Yoon-sung seeks to avenge his father's death by using the identity of a Korean-American teenager who is later revealed to have died several years ago.

6/7
Gangnam Blues

Spoiler

04155720-gangnam-1970-gangnam-blues-9715

Lee Min-ho stars in Gangnam Blues

Written and directed by South Korean director, screenwriter, and contemporary poet Yoo Ha, Gangnam Blues is a movie that Min-ho fans wouldn't want to miss. The film is set in the early 1970s when socio-political turmoil and terrorism is rampant in Seoul's Gangnam district.

Childhood friends, Jong Dae (Min-ho) and Yong-ki (Kim Rae-won) struggle to get by until their homes were demolished by local thugs. The two get tested as they find themselves involved in serious political clashes.

7/7
Get Up (2008)

Spoiler

It will be quite nostalgic for fans to see Min-ho in a role a little similar to Goo Jun-pyo. In Get Up (2008) he plays the role of a teenager who traverses the life of a regular schoolboy.

The movie is written by Ko Eun-nim who is known for writing Bungee Jumping of Their Own (2001) and R U Ready (2002).

Lee Min Ho's talent <Photo>, who hit home theaters last year with Boys Over Flowers, is returning a year after deciding on his next job.
Lee Min Ho has been cast as Jung Jin Ho, protagonist of MBC's "Personal Taste" miniseries (written by Park Hye Kyung, directed by Song Hyun Suk), which will premiere in April.

Lee Min Ho said, “I thought about finding a good job for a long time, but when I came across the script for Personal Taste, I decided to show up right away."
