What do you guys think of this? I wonder why they refer to it as season 1. Do you guys think there’s a possibility there’s more than 1 season?

Perhaps they are now filming the first part of the book in 8 episodes, and then they are planning the sequel to 2 and 3 parts?

So Youn Yoh Jung is the presumptive favorite to take Best Supporting Actress at the Academy Awards two weeks from now.  Her winning would bring a lot of hype around Pachinko.

I was also thinking the same from the get go. covering 4 generations in one season is alot unless you jump from one arc to antoher which also can work if excuted well. Maybe they will chose to focus on one generation and give the rest small screen time could also work in that way

I noticed that too!  Do you think it's like Netflix where every show is a "season 1?"  Anyone familiar with Apple TV+ know the answer?

We now offer you a quick overview of this drama so you can get into context about the following:

In August 1598, a typhoon struck Joseon, which left the mermaid (Jung Ji Hyun), was taken prisoner and placed in the house of a swindler who wants to sell her to make money. Kim Dam Rim (Lee Min Ho), the son of a nobleman and head of the village, decides to release her into the sea. To stay connected. The townspeople want to be killed, so Kim Dam Rim has no choice but to return her to the sea.

Kim Dam Rim gives her a jade bracelet. When they find out that the mermaid has returned to the sea, the crook decides to find her and capture her, but instead Kim Dam Rim finds out about it and goes in search of the mermaid, but they kill both of them. She is reborn as a mermaid and thus maintains crossings through different parts of the world, in 2016 she unexpectedly arrives on the coast of Catalonia, Spain, where she discovers that when her body dries up, her tail transforms into human-like legs. ...

Now, if you've already seen this drama, you remember the character who also stole our hearts, and it was about the hacker, the character of Tae Oh. played by idol Shin Won Ho. During this time, he was interviewed about his first impression of King Hailu Lee Min Ho.

Interviewer:

What are your impressions of Lee Min Ho before and after the drama?

Lee Minho was a "superstar" before we met, and now he is not only a "superstar" but also an older brother, handsome inside and out, which makes you look at him. We are still in touch and have recently gathered. We had fun chatting about mobile phone games.

An article from Apple itself said that Dr Brain is already in production.

https://www.apple.com/tv-pr/news/2021/03/apple-orders-international-series-dr-brain-from-visionary-filmmaker-kim-jee-woon-and-starring-lee-sun-kyun/

Hopefully, it's just a technicality in the usage of words, that Dr Brain is to be produced in the Korean language, while Pachinko would be produced in 3 languages (Korean, Eng, Japanese). I've also seen such articles last month in Korean and didn't mind them much, due to risk of mistranslation. This is the first article I've seen in English which explicitly says Pachinko follows Dr. Brain.
