MACKEREL RUN EP 4

Because I lost what I wrote not once, but twice:angry:, my comments are shorter than what I originally wrote.

Mackerel Run really isn't bad aside from the silliness.  I've seen worse dramas than this.  Does Chung Ah like gong Chan too?  Now I see what Sae Mi sees in Gong Chan.  He isn't a bad kid at all; he has morals and I think Sae Mi respects him for that.  Oh, I remember what I thought was funny--Gong Chan marked his answers on the exam just like Young Do in Heirs-remember?  I am curious how the drama ends--abruptly because it was supposed to be more than 8 episodes or did the PD know SBS was going to cancel the series and there is an ending.  I guess we'll find out.

Is there supposed to be a fan meet at one of the hotels LMH endorses?  Or am I making it up because I want to see him?:w00t:

Yes, @CarolynH, there is a scheduled fan meet this Feb 9 in Seoul for Shinsegae Chosun Hotel. But "as the new corona virus is currently spreading worldwide, the postponement has been decided after careful consultation with the event organizer for the health and safety of Lee Min Ho and fans participating in the event." It is tentatively rescheduled to June 21, 2020.

LMH in Mackerel Run episode 4:

Thanks for all your comments!

I can't remember ... have none of you watched this before??  I have, so I know the secrets, but I can't remember how it ends.

It's interesting to see the start of all these young actors, and then to see where they are today.

Episode 4

I like this episode too.It has an interesting story line. Baek Hyun competing for Yoon Seo's love.  Sorry you lost most of your comments @CarolynH Bummer!

You see why 3 girls are attracted to Gong Chan. It is the goodness of his heart. He was willing to take the blame for Chan Ah. He talked Sei mi out of selling herself out for money as well as rescuing her earlier and attracting Yoon Seo with his utter charming infatuation for her. Gong Chan has a good heart and is honest, the girls see that and thus they are willing to support and help him.Even though he had the answers, he refused to cheat which was a good thing because he would have been caught. Three girls in his life now and he is good to all of them as a friend except for Yoon Seo. It is hilarious that they enjoy watching porn. Watch their eyes pop out and their reaction when mom comes home and they pretend to study :D. Boys will be boys. He really does not like to study.

K-Minoz (DC Lee Min Ho Gallery) sent gifts to LMH and The King crew.

Because the filming is still in Busan, they couldn't do the support as planned. But those are winter supplies, the supplies will be useless if the support is still postponed. So after coordination, they do the support partly in advance.

@1ouise:  I tried to watch Mackerel Run several times, but couldn't get passed the silliness in the first episode.  I'm glad that we are rewatching it as now I realize that it isn't that bad at all.  As for your question last week, I did mean the scar on the right side of his face, the cheek, running parallel with his eye.  I guess it's often covered by makeup and I notice it only at certain angles.

@gtLmh0622:  Wow, they are still filming in Busan?  I still wonder why Busan.  Could that be why we haven't seen many fan photos of the filming?

All, please send me either here or by PM any suggestions for the LMH favorites (ie fave outfit, fave heirs sweater, etc) which follows ep 8 of Mackerel Run.  I'm starting a list.

Hi CarolynH,   actually, the movie “Train to Busan” had put the city of Busan on the worldwide map. There have also been many international and local films, dramas and reality TV shows that have filmed in various places around Busan.  If you've watched Running Man, most of their EPs were filmed in Busan. There are a couple of good hidden cafes in between the houses there, which are Instagram worthy shots. Definitely worth visiting as travellers can take a stroll through the painted murals, shops and cafes.  There are many Busan’s famous beaches, too. So, I'm not surprise why one of the drama locations were being filmed there.

International Survey Shows Who Comes To Mind When People Think Of Korea + Further Evaluation Of Country’s Image

809e83e571944ca09b97857e8ce7162f.jpeg?s=

Government agencies have shared the results of their survey of Koreans and foreigners about the country’s image, which revealed that Korea’s most representative figures around the world are President Moon Jae In and BTS.

On February 4, the South Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and its affiliate the Korean Culture and Information Service released the results of their survey titled “2019 South Korean National Image.” The online survey gathered the opinions of 8,000 people from 16 countries (including South Korea) in July and August 2019, and it found that 76.7 percent of non-Koreans evaluated Korea’s overall image positively. Korean respondents showed a more than 10 percent increase in positive evaluations of their own country’s image (from 54.4 percent in 2018 to 64.8 percent in 2019).

Factors that encourage a positive image of Korea for foreigners are listed as popular culture such as K-pop, films, and literature (38.2 percent), followed by the country’s economic level (14.6 percent), cultural heritage (14 percent), and Korean products and brands (11.6 percent).

The sources of information on Korea included broadcasts such as via television or radio at 66.6 percent and the internet and social media at 63.9 percent.

Respondents were also asked to name the people who came to mind when they thought of Korea. Many of the responses were singers or actors, followed by politicians and athletes. 50.8 percent of respondents stated no one came to mind.

In first place was President Moon Jae In with 7.9 percent of responses, and BTS came in second with 5.5 percent. BTS rose from being in the No. 5 spot in 2018.

See the Top 20 below:

1. President Moon Jae In (7.9 percent)
2. BTS (5.5 percent)
3. Lee Min Ho (4.3 percent)

Jeez after bae yong joon ( winter sonata ) retirement in 2007,  he took over hallyu in 2009 with bof and never gave back the position even when he was in army. Many came and left, but his consistency  sets him apart. And heirs , lotbs all became pan asian hits. With king , he looks like to rule another decade. But i feel bad for him , considering he lost that luxurious  chinese market where he earned millions. I hope he gets it back.  Still he is doing great anyways without it with tons of cf deals.  Amother thing ranking behind BTS who r global sensations shows how big he is!

It amazes me that he is still soo well known. I found him February of last year because of wanting to watch Hana York dango Korean version. It was all downhill from there. So I can imagine his fan base keep on growing because there are always new people watching BOF and smitten by him and his acting, just like i was last year.

@Deepakmahajan I’m curious to know what you meant by Lee min ho loosing the Chinese market? Did I miss something? I’m pretty he is still so well know I’m China.

Hi syntyche, thanks for sharing this. I'm really curious about who they surveyed. Did they talk to the politicians? Hahaha - since the K-President is No 1.

@scrawford hallyu ban in china during late 2016 where korean content and celebs were banned after tensions between 2 countries.

He is popular no doubt but i dont know he can promote there or not anymore. It was big market for him , because he was endorsing like 15 to.20 brands there during his peak before army.

. He had multi million dollar deal with oppo back then. Ofcourse there is enough money in korea, because when he hit it big after boys over flowers, he signed around 20 million usd worth endorsements, when he was new star and his pan asian popularity gives him endorsements in other asian countries  but chinese money was on different level altogether. Hope they allow k artist again.
