hanie
DIGITAL PERM: Any random info/pictures/questions are welcome(: This perm isn't a normal straight perm. You can either choose to get big loose curls or tight, srunched up curls. I suggest you have long hair, mid-way down your back+ if you want it to turn out okay (: Short hair can get you afros or just....ugly ahhaha xP After you get the perm, your hair length decrease atleast an inch (well, for me it did?) The next few pictures do no justice ): That thing behind the girl is the machine used to curl your hair, I had 2 of these connected to me :/ credit goes to photobucket, &no, I have no idea who this girl is in the picture... 072707 edit I got my digital perm yesterday! Also, my salonist said my perm will last 6-8months? I was surprised haha. Alot of people have been asking how long my hair was before I got the perm? I'll post some pictures haha, sorry! but i can't reply back to all those personal messages haha(; *pictures--- I removed the pictures originally but I'll add them up again b/c it's kind of pointless w/o an image^^ disgusting pictures, but I tried to change the lighting to see my hair? hahhaa sorry! Guest xm1chelle
it is digital perm & it can last longer than 3-4 months depending on how you take care of it...the price range really depends on where you go & also how much hair you have (a lot, little, etc.)...i'll post up pics later if i find some
Guest back-sue
Every single one of my friends who got a digital perm ended up straightening it again. My friend wanted like Nam Gyu Ri curls Ended up with an afro.
Guest Rainie
I got a digital perm last year in the summer, and it's lasted a year...it may not be curlier than before, but my hair is more wavy now. This was a pic 2 months after my perm: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v53/Rain...3/Picture11.jpg 4-6 months: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v53/Rain...Picture7651.jpg Recently 8 months: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v53/Rain.../moto_01351.jpg So my curls are still holding...I just do a lot of scrunching after a shower, no products...and I haven't brushed my hair in a year, except for my bangs O.o. Now my hair has grown down to my lower back. I would say a digital perm is well worth it if you go to a really good place. I got mine done at a Koreantown salon in China, and it was around $70 CAD. I really like your hair - it still looks as good now as it did 6 months ago How much did yours cost? And did it damage your hair a lot? Oh, and what was your hair like before? Sorry for all the questions I just really like your perm!
Guest Rainie
^lol, it was $70 CAD when converted...so around $60 USD...my hair doesn't look damaged....and I have thin hair. But generally, digital perms aren't as damaging as the regular perms. Digital perms are done with electricity wires attached to their curlers, think of medusa, lol. I think it's really less hassle...cuz I used to have straight hair...not flat straight straight, but straight with a wave to it and I hated maintaining and straightening it everyday. Now, I just never brush my hair, your perm should flow naturally after a shower if it's permed right. And all you need is some extra scrunching here and there when it's wet, and I don't use any products either cuz it'll make my hair flat and stiff looking. Just let it airdry...it'll always stay that way. :D

Yeah, same with Batgirl. ...You haven't brushed your hair in a year? Are you ALLOWED to brush it or do you just choose not to? But your curls look REALLY pretty. Very Asian-modelesque with those big ringlets and stuff. I'd like a digital perm like that, but more with just nice waves rather than ringlets (do you have to touch up with a curling iron sometimes though? I heard sometimes you have to). I want it like yours but a bit more looser. i don't brush my hair either i find that when i straighten my hair, it gets tangled very easily as opposed to my unbrushed permed hair. blowdrying makes my hair really ugly, but i heard with a diffuser it can bring out your curls even more

It just untangles by itself in the shower, lol. Your not supposed to brush it...I did that for the first couple of weeks, and I went back to the hairstylist, and he told me you weren't supposed to brush it, only scrunch it, otherwise it'll mess up the curls after it dries. It's the same idea with using a curling iron, you don't brush it after you curl, because the curls will untangle and look like a frizzy mess. With a perm, your hair should always be in the same shape, so there shouldn't be any tangles....unless you have a really bad perm. I don't blowdry my hair, because it will create frizz, I also don't use a curling iron, since added heat isn't good for permed hair, and so if you straighten it a couple of times, the curls won't last as long. I hope that helped. :)
Guest xchuchanx
brushing it will make it the curls frizz and less uniform. yeah, so detangle in the shower.
Guest mue
LOL. completely off topic, but: when i first read the thread topic, i saw Digitial Sperm. i was like what the??? sperms flying around in monitors? Then I was thinking how it's even possible, and how funny the phrase was... and before I knew it, I clicked on the thread, and realized my mistake. hanie
hm, it can last more than a year? well...my hair is extremely thick, i need to tie it w/ 2 hairties sometimes b/c otherwise, it'll just unravel/break haha. and my hair is pretty long too...an inch or 2 past the middle of my back...you're supposed to get a couple more layers before getting the digital perm though if i'm not mistaken? thanks for all the other info. though! ^_^
Guest im` l0vEd
ogmod. i just realized. after doing anything with your hair (ie. extensions, digital perms, regular perms, braids, etc) like that kind of thing-- you CAN'T brush your hair. gosh, that's such a hassle. (i keep brushing my extension hair. bad habit.) and btw, i love your hair, rainie.

Guest seesheen
i got digital perm too but i brush my hair before i take a shower is that ok? oh & Rainie did you perm ur hair starting from the roots? cuz for me they started it from like around the ears cuz i have my hair's really thick & they said it would be poofy if i didnt? i really love ur hair btw :)
Guest EYELIED
Would a perm still look ok if your face shape was chubby? or not in a triangular or heart face shape?
Guest Rainie
^It should be okay, I don't see why not. Perms hide the fact that you have a big/chubby face....I used to have straight and rather flat hair, and it made my face seem really big. i got digital perm too but i brush my hair before i take a shower is that ok? oh & Rainie did you perm ur hair starting from the roots? cuz for me they started it from like around the ears cuz i have my hair's really thick & they said it would be poofy if i didnt? i really love ur hair btw Yeah, for me they started right above the ears actually...and it used to be poofy...I didn't want really tight curls, so I came out of the salon very satisfied. They layered my hair, and permed it, and so I had short ringlets down to my neck, and longer hair to my upper back. So I had a poofy top part because of the layering, and it actually looked good. Because when I first suggested just curling the bottom only, the hairstylist told me that it wouldn't look good. Brushing before shower should be okay, but your curls might not last as long if you keep on doing it.
