Episode 11 - BRIEF Summary

SPOILER ALERT!

The episode started out all happy and stuff as the 5 of them went on a picnic. I believe Aing made bimbap and Ha Na made something called nem (Vietnamese food).

Lan Aing gave this pin/button as a sign of friendship.

Lan Aing had some complications with her pregnancy and went to the hospital. I'm assuming the operation was not successful and she died. Ha Na bursted into tears while looking at the pin/button and recalled the memories she had with Aing. She was saddened that her first friend is no longer here. They played the song that Aing normally sings at the scene.

Eun Tak sat outside of Ha Na's room and got teary-eyed also as he was hearing her crying.

Aing's husband held a tradition Vietnamese funeral. Ho Sang, Ha Na, Eun Tak, and Nam Kyung wore the traditional Vietnamese mourning/funeral costumes.

Ha Na visited the place where she and Aing normally hung out. She started to sing Aing's song and suddenly Aing appeared next to her. Although Aing is no long living, her spirit and memories remain as beautiful and lively within Hana.

Ho Sangs illness got worse as he's constantly feeling pain on his side.

After thoughts:

This episode is a weepie but I thought it was beautifully shot and executed. Can't wait to rewatch it with English subs for a better understanding.

Ha Na and Aing's friendship is very heart-warming as they both don't really understand each other due to language barrier. However, they were able to become the best of friends and be there to comfort each other. It is sad that Aing has to leave. Ha Na is greatly affected when Aing left because she's her first true friend. Remember that Ha Na didn't even cry at her grandmother's funeral. After she met Ho Sang and Aing, she's alive with emotions.

I just hope the writer(s) won't kill off Ho Sang. *CROSSING FINGERS* Ha Na is already saddened about losing Aing, and I don't think she can bear it if Ho Sang leaves also.

As the drama progresses, I don't think Cha Tae Hyun is playing his stereotypical, goofy roles. It may seem like that in the beginning, but his character matured throughout a series of events... and CTH has been doing an excellent job portraying as Ho Sang. Kang Hye Jung is just perfect for her role when as she transformed her character from being emotionless to very emotional. Kim Ji Hoon transformed his character from Mr. Cool/Calm/Hot to Mr. Caring/Sweet/Hotter. Gong Hyun Joo also played her role well for being a sweet, caring friend to Ho Sang and when she trapped herself into thinking that her fiance was still alive.

I hope more people will recognize this drama. Ratings do not determine the quality of a drama, but it saddens me that many people are not giving this drama chance either because of the "death" topic or not enough "hot" actors/actresses.

thank you serenity..I've been witing for these spoilers..

hurm, ho sang's condition has worsen. At first I thought that it's a bit too early, but we're already on eps 11. I didn't see how much time has passes...Without being biased on CTH as I'm a big fan of him, I think I did a great job in the drama. When I see sad scenes of him, I got teary eyed. And the rest of the casting too..everyone is doing a great job potraying each character..

as much as I don't care about rating, I know it means a lot to the actors and crew. I just hope they don't discourage themselves because this drama is really a gem.

Btw, I love the photo of the 5 of them sitting around at one side of Ho sang when he's sick..lovely..All of the Funeral parlor's member are there

~ i am still waiting patiently for the subtitles for esp 9 onwards ..esp 8 was just as lovely with it message of mother's love ~ nothing overly dramatic but it leave such lingering feelings ..after you witnessed how Mdm Kong went off to ask for Hana's mother help ..for her daughter ..she needs a *fake* family so her daughter will know she is living well ~ ...a mother understand another mother .despite her jealousl and still upset over Hana's mother .simled so in delight waving away to Mdm Kong .. ...she loan her family to Mdm Kong because she understand a mother's heart .

*i simply adore how Hana's parents make up ..after their little quarrel * ! .

I know the feeling. I also hope I can do something to help wit the ratings. And as I said earlier, if someone can give us direction on how to post on KBS, i'd very much want to post encouragement words to the crew.

iit is always quite disheartening when you see such a well executed drama not receiving the respond it should received in terms of viewership .~ sigh .you feel like an injustice been done .

.i been through a fair share of those kind of experience ...but i suppose everyone has different preferences when it come to drama selection [and when those are the ppl where the rating box are installed then well the ratings just show what they watch ] ..perhaps flowers for my life style in contrast with the current dramas .is just too unique ..in terms of its style of storytelling .too gentle and subtle ...and need more time to develop a crowd of viewers for it...but really i am glad once in a while a drama like this come along ..to leave it's prints

and also it also depend on luck . too bad it collide with my man's woman in the same timeslot .. which .is really not just any ahjuma drama maybe the theme of the drama incidcated it .but i can understand why there such a huge following for it ..even though it is on the theme of affairs.~ the drama has such brilliant cast [ i watch esp 1 ..just purely watching KHA and BJO in action is enough to get you hook ] and i too really like the writer ...

the production team know they are doing such a great job for Flowers for my Life ... and i hope they will.continue to keep on doing what they believed in ..they are the flowers we need for kdrama to bloom more beautiful ..

I was just reading a snarky blog comment from someone who thinks that the producers and stars of this show should be embarrassed by the low 3.3 rating. (Lowest rating ever?)

I for one don't think that the producers, writers, stars or anyone involved with the show should feel embarrassed. The ones who have not given the show a viewing are the ones that are missing a great show.

There are many things that were deemed failures at first, but after time are appreciated as true classics.

This is a great show, people will find that out if they watch it.

Oh my.....I can't believe myself. Not sure if I'm getting emotional at 8am over here at my side. BUt reading the past few posts esp. from Ann and Shirley, I started to get bit teary as scenes frm flowers flashed through my mind.

I willl be back with more thoughts later but for now, just want to add on as well.

Honestly speaking, this show is on my list of 'watching-purely-for-plot-&-awesome cast'. I wasn't familiar with the crew except CTH, who did a brilliant job in Prince's 1st Love (his great acting was the only saving grace). I'm also pretty intrigued by the morbid theme.

The 1st 2 eppies made me realise that this show is truly gonna shine coz indeed, the crew is awesome. What I didn't expect is the superb flow of the plot...it's so beautifully executed. Those eng songs are a plus too. Subsequent eppies left me with this sense of refreshing heartwarming yet pensive sort of emotions. A can't- really- describable - feeling.....

I was chasing after war of $ and air city concurrently. And I realise this:

- that I look more forward to chasing after war of $ and air city. War of $ is fast-paced and the crew acts well too. The plot, based on a popular comic, is kick-richard simmons. I chased the drama to see how the lead succeeds in gaining lots of $$$$ . Air City, it's due to the hot leads.

-BUT , BUT, that's it. The above shows are just dramas in themselves. I dl, I watched, the end, that's it. Full-stop.

- Flowers, is totally different.

- It's not consciously registered in my brain to 'chase' flowers. BUT, when I watch the eppies themselves, I got so absorbed in them. I feel a total myraid of emotions. I grow really pensive and self-reflective... So sorry , I can't really depict my feelings. And I think about the various scenes and conversations THEREAFTER. It's not a 'full-stop' kind of drama. It's a '......................' drama for me.

Hope I don't confuse u all and that u all kinda understand what I meant...will be back again

I think I can totally empathise with all you fans in here. I too, feel very sad, especially when there are nasty and absolutely untrue blog comments like the one russkelp read. Have they ever thought how the production staff and artistes would feel? I'm sure just the viewership alone is quite demoralising. They don't need, and certainly don't deserve such crappy blog comments.

I think viewers are just not giving this drama a chance. Look at this thread. The fans are not made up by CTH avid fans(like myself), KHJ fans or any other fans of particular artistes. Instead, they are fans that have come together from diverse background, who like this drama for exactly what it is. In fact, there are neutral viewers who begin to find out for themselves how well all the artistes can act. In my opinion, I think there isn't one in this drama whom I think can't act for nuts. Everyone suited their role perfectly.

This thread might not be over 100 pages, but everytime I come into this thread, I see many users reading this topic. I think it seriously says a lot about this drama.

If only there's a way for the artistes and production crew to know that their drama is in fact very much appreciated as a true gem in the drama industry......

*hugging Amy*.. don't feel sad dearest.. This drama is a gem.. and ratings don't mean much to those who really appreciate well-written dramas. People are entitled to their opinions.. and the low ratings just mean that we're the priviledge group who gets to watch and appreciate this drama before everyone else. I remember going through the same process with Resurrection before.. hehe.. I'm sure that there are way too many choices right now.. and many are distracted.. but a good drama will definitely find its way around.. i do think that it's so unfair that the rating is so low.. low enough to be in the league of "Autumn Showers"- and that's just heartbreaking!! I don't care much about ratings.. but i do hope that the drama won't get too sad.. * cuz i don't do well w/ super sad scenes*.. thank goodness we have a strong support group of fans here.. many thanks to Ann & msau99 & amy and everyone at BON for the superb subs.. you guys rock.. !!! * hugssssss*

'꽃찾다'는 첫 방송부터 차태현과 강혜정의 코믹 연기로 시청자들의 눈길을 잡았다. 오랜만에 안방극장으로 복귀한 두 사람의 능청스러운 코믹 연기는 어느새 눈물연기로 변해 시청자들의 눈물샘을 자극하고 있다. 그동안 강혜정의 눈물, 공현주의 눈물 등에 이어 차태현의 눈물이 시청자들을 울린 것이다.

People are definitely appreciating this drama. As I mentioned in Javabean's site , at the moment I can see many soompiers who have FFML as their signatures. More than those from war of money and maybe about the same amount as Air city.

I think people who took the chance to watch the drama really appreciates it for it is, more than the pleasure of just watching it like what they did with other dramas. There4s a plus to the drama rather than being just enjoyable.

Translation of the article (there are some spoilers, so please avoid if you don't want to get spoiled! )

KBS 2TV Monday-Tuesday drama "Flowers For My Life" has made tv viewers shed into tears. This drama is about a woman named Na Ha-Na who decides to get married to a rich man named Yoon Ho-Sang, but later finds out that this man is not rich and about to die due to pancreas cancer. However, knowing his true identity, she still falls in love with him.

Episode 12 was aired in Korea on the 20th. The episode was a sad episode about Yoon Ho-Sang visiting the hospital coincidentally and he finds out that he has pancreas cancer. Excluding Na Ha-Na and a few others, no one knew about his disease. After finding out that he has cancer, he goes and visits the same fortune teller he went to see with Na Ha-Na and asked if it is positively true that he'll be living for another 20 years, but Ho-Sang appears to not believe the fortune teller.

TV viewers felt sorry for Ho-Sang's character during the scene where Ho-Sang calls up his mom and cries. Ho-Sang is leading people into tears as he tries very hard to forget that he's about to die soon. Seeing Ho-Sang suffering through the painful symtoms has tv viewers sympathizing with him.

Ever since the airing of the first episode, Cha Tae-Hyun and Kang Hye-Jung's comic acting has gained much attention by tv viewers. Starting off the show in a more comical mood has now suddenly turned into more of a dark and sad mood. Up till now, we have seen Kang Hye-Jung's tears, Gong Hyun-Joo's tears...and now Cha Tae-Hyun's tears...which puts tv viewers into tears as well. On the message boards, tv viewers have left comments such as : "I feel so sorry for Ho-Sang/I pity him", "Please save Ho-Sang. Please have a miracle happen"...these comments were posted on the message board.

I briefly skimmed through episode 11 and 12 and wow...it does put one into tears...I feel so sad right now! I absolutely love this drama into pieces...hope more viewers come to find out and appreciate this drama! It can't be missed!
