[단독]배우 강동원, '이한열기념사업회'에 2억 원 기부 뒤늦게 알려져

영화 '1987'에 고 이한열 열사 역으로 출연했던 배우 강동원 씨가 2억 원을 '이한열기념사업회'에 기부한 사실이 뒤늦게 알려졌다. 

이한열기념사업회 측은 22일 YTN과의 통화에서 "지난해 3월 강동원 씨가 사업회 측에 2억 원을 '특별후원회비'로 전달했다"며 "'이한열 열사의 어머니 배은심 여사 구술 작업 등 어머니 관련 사업과 기념사업회 운영에 사용해달라'는 뜻을 전했다"고 밝혔다. 그동안 강동원 씨가 익명을 요청해 기부 사실이 알려지지 않았지만, 22일 저녁 2018년 연말 결산 보고차 열린 이사회에서 특별후원회비 내역을 설명하는 과정에서 외부로 알려지게 되었다.

 

앞서 사업회 측은 홈페이지에 '2018 연말 결산 보고'라는 제목의 글을 올리며 "거액의 특별후원이 있었다"고 밝혔다. 또, "후원해주신 분들께 감사드리며 이한열의 뜻을 기리는데 사용하겠다"며 "사용할 곳을 지정하신 후원이라 별도의 계좌로 운영하고 있다"고 설명했다. 이 거액의 특별후원이 강동원 씨의 기부금인 것으로 확인된 것. 강동원의 소속사 YG엔터테인먼트 관계자도 YTN과의 통화에서 "배우가 익명으로 기부한 것으로 안다"고 밝혔다.

 

영화 '1987'에서 고 이한열 열사를 연기했던 배우 강동원은 이 열사의 어머니 배은심 여사와 꾸준히 인연을 이어왔다. 2017년 6월 연세대학교 연희관 앞 '1987' 촬영장을 찾은 어머니와 만나 담소를 나누고, 촬영이 끝난 뒤에도 이한열 열사의 생가인 광주를 종종 찾아 함께 식사를 하는 등 남다른 인연을 이어왔다.

 

6월 민주화 항쟁을 다룬 영화 '1987'은 2017년 12월 개봉해 723만 관객을 기록했고 강동원은 고 이한열 열사 역으로 특별출연해 데뷔 이래 최고의 연기라는 펼쳤다는 찬사를 받기도 했다.
