Guest Hitorijime
Taiwanese Songstress. If you're into Cpop, I'm sure you have heard of A-Mei Chang. She has one of the best voices in Asia and is still going strong (has been in the music industry for over 10 years). Some background info: A-mei Born August 9, 1972 Origin: Taitung, Republic of China Genre(s): Pop Years active: 1996 - present A-mei is an ethnic Puyuma. Like most Taiwanese aborigines she was exposed to tribal music during her childhood. A-mei's mother used to record herself singing and then play back the tape for her daughters to hear. A-mei had always been fascinated by music; she once said she stuck to the radio and would rush to watch the late night music program introducing English songs when she was a little girl. She also showed great eagerness to perform in public, forcing her friends to listen to her sing. A-mei first connected to the entertainment business by joining the televised "Five Lights Singing Contest" by TTV in 1994, after encouragement by her father, who was ill at that time. A-mei made all her way through to the finals but eventually lost in the final round. She felt very disappointed and most likely to quit her interest in music competition. A-mei's father then told her "you definitely can sing and perform songs beautifully, why don't you join the competition again to show that you got a talent in music?" So A-mei was encouraged and then decided to make a second attempt in the following year. This time her stable and superb performances were much appreciated by the judges, and A-mei was awarded the champion. Unfortunately, Amei's father passed away before her victory, making A-mei sad and aimless until she began to sing in pubs with a rock band formed by her musician cousin. She was later discovered by the popular singer/producer Chang Yu-Sheng (張雨生) and started her career. Guest 波斯猫
I really like her new album "I Want Happiness" and her song "Huo" is great faster-paced song, especially since she records slower songs usually! Her voice is unlike many of the other Cpop singers I've heard.

sugarplum892
Sam reportedly lashed out at the songstress in publicTaiwanese diva A-Mei’s boyfriend Sam was recently seen lashing out at the singer in his club, after having too many drinks. The songstress was entertaining the customers when her boyfriend suddenly started shouting at her: “Zhang Hui Mei, who do you think you are!”Despite his actions, A-Mei continued to stay beside the drunken Sam to take care of him. When the 41-year-old eventually decided to leave the scene, Sam allegedly chased after her and yelled: “I’ve had enough of you, damn Zhang Hui Mei!”However, an insider later told a different side of the story regarding the happenings that night. Exhausted by the lack of rest, A-Mei had gone home without informing Sam, who apparently got into a dispute with a bartender under the influence of alcohol. The insider also claimed that Sam was too drunk to run after the songstress.Meanwhile, rumours are rife that A-Mei has been financially supporting her beau by paying for his apartment, buying him a sports car and forking out money to invest in his club. Teaser photos from her album were recently revealed, drawing compliments from netizens on her drastic image change – visible weight loss and silver hair colour. To obtain the desired hair colour, the singer had to go through seven hours of bleaching and dyeing. “It’s so painful!” exclaimed A-Mei, who was upset that she lost a lot of hair due to the chemical processes.Netizens also pointed out that the diva, who had been making headlines for her weight issues, has successfully shed extra pounds for her album.According to A-Mei’s manager, the songbird bought a recording studio two years ago. “After recording a song, she would go home and think about it,” he added. “Most of the time, she would come back another day and re-record the track with different emotions. It’s common to record one song for countless times.”Source
Mangoberrie
@angelangieLove 'Ting Hai' too. A-Mei is an awesome singer. I don't mind the bleached hair, but not sure I dig the messy hair look. Also, that dress doesn't help show off the lost weight, which is a pity.
sugarplum892
A-Mei's manager denies marriage rumours 22 Dec – A-Mei's camp has recently dismissed rumours that the Taiwanese singer will be tying the knot with her bartender boyfriend, Sam. Previously, the singer sparked speculation of marriage when she announced that her upcoming 10-show Taipei Arena concerts, which will be held in April 2015, will be her last concert tour. It was further rumoured that the singer, who will supposedly announce her wedding at the concert, will be halting her career after marriage, and using her free time mentoring newcomers instead. However, when asked to confirm the wedding rumours, A-Mei's manager dismissed it as nothing but fabrication. "A-Mei will never mix business with personal matters. She only said that she would not be holding big concerts at the Taipei Arena. She said nothing about retiring!" the manager stated. Source
