Guest Dazzle and Destroy Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 i'd say, dont even think about buying it...its not like "oh why not? its just 1 buck"...more like "crap, this cheap stuff can really harm my skin"
Guest oona Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 I once bought a maybelline black smudging eyeliner (w/ the twist end-so you don't have to sharpen), just to try out from the dolloar store. It turned out to be the best eyeliner ever.. but when i went back after a month.. they were all gone. Since then, i've been stopping by every dollar store i see just to get even 1/2 of them, but no luck.Downfall of getting cosmetics from the dollar store is that they may not have your preferred cosmetic there next time, so buy it all up when you've discovered something worth using again.
Guest trèsCREATIONS Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 It depends on the product. I've had times where I would be running around my house for eyeliner or eyeshadow, and I have a dollar store right by my house, so I would grab a eye liner and eyeshadow and do my makeup. The worst that dollar store brands ever did to me was, the eyeliner barely shows, or it shows too much. The eyeshadows colors are pretty much like any other storebrand colors imo. I know a lot of friends who buy stuff from the dollar store last minute, us group of friends who misplace their makeup often stick together x_X. But my point is, never have I ever heard anyone getting any reaction or anything harmful, the makeup is usually just LESS effective unless you're really lucky that day and they're selling nice brands.
Guest Eunice! Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 just dont do itinvest in some good make-up that'll last longer and that you'll likeif you really want to save some cash thoughget some nail polish :]
Guest reuniw Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 Someone told me there isn't much difference bt cheap and expensive makeup. I think they're right.
Guest dbsk_star Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 i wouldnt try it, especially if you have sensitive skin...it might harm your skin..
Guest paradox^ Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 I buy there sometimes, but only if I see a good brand.Sometimes they have name brands. It's more about the fun though. I'm just happy that I got something for $1, I guess >.<
Guest oreoo Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 Bought a lipgloss ther once..NEVER again will í go back and buy make up there.Their lipgloss made my lip crack and it dried it up SO BAD.T_T
Guest PunchNine Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 lol the makeup i see in my local dollar store are all caking inside their packaging... they dont look very good.its honestly not worth the risk.i'd advise you spend an extra 4 or 5 dollar on drugstore products instead.. =/
Guest xoxo.poppinv Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 you shouldnt use the foundations i think... but eyeshadow, eyeliner & lip gloss is fine. my friend jacked eyeshadow and eyeliner and gave it to me and it works pretty well, but my friend bought the lipgloss and it turns out pretty nice... but id rather stick to the face shop or chanel ect.xoxo<3kim
Guest Batgirl Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 But my point is, never have I ever heard anyone getting any reaction or anything harmful, the makeup is usually just LESS effective unless you're really lucky that day and they're selling nice brands.seriously. everyone in this thread is talking like you'll get cancer or something. and its funny coz most of the people on soompi buzz about mac products when their studio fixes are comedegenic fosho
Guest angelkiki04 Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 to my knowledge..there is nothing wrong with dollar-store makeup...i read in a bobbie brown (makeup guru) that when you're experimenting with makeup...go for dollar-store stuff...it's cheap and it'll be fun to experiment and if you end up not liking the makeup, you won't feel as bad when throwing it out.
