Guest exoticbubble
hello~ do you guys have some tips for a beginner? ok, not really a beginner, i had singing lessons back when i was 12-16 (now i'm 20) and i'm able to reach some high/low notes but sometimes my voice is cracking up. also i always sound horrible when i record myself idk if it is because i don't like my voice or my singing got worse because when i had lessons my teacher told me i can sing pretty good. the thing is just after i canceled to take lessons i barely sung, only at home to my favorite songs and under the shower lol. i always sound like i don't hit any note -__-'' i want to try email audition for some companys in a few months (or in 2015, depends on how my singing skills improve untill then) and i don't want to sound like a total mess or like i'm not taking this seriously - because i'm seriously about it, even if it's just for experience i'm okay with that. Guest theoneandonlycat6_d6c1
In Audacity, what does the reverb option do? I have used it a few times and i see that it changes something in the audio, but what is it suppose to be used for?
Guest theoneandonlycat6_d6c1
Is there a way to get an auto-tune effect to your voice with audacity? For example in Red Velvet's Happiness the "Money, Power" part.(horrid example, i know)

lovelymacaron
Any advice on improving breathing when singing? I already know basic breathing technique in singing (breath from your diaphragm and feeling as though your rib cage are expanding) since I was in choir for 6 years in middle and high school, but because of medical breathing issues I always have trouble getting in enough air in order to produce a full, rich sound or sustain a note for longer than a measure. Guest jayecho
15+ year audio engineer, 8+ concert planner here. PM me for...well, any advice. My knowledge comes free. I auditioned 8+ years ago, had a contract in Tokyo, said eff it, came back to the states, started an LLC, did your favorite boy band concerts in the states, opened up a recording studio, and I'm responsible for mixing all your ringtones and ringback tones for Verizon. Ask away. No holds barred. I can be brutally honest. Edited August 26, 2015 by jayecho

jiaopao
Any tips on how to get a better tone and thicker, stronger sound? My voice isn't necessarily bad, but I have a soft, "thin" sounding voice. I'd like it to have more "structure" if that makes sense. Also, my singing voice sounds like my normal voice, kinda boring lol. Any help is great. Thanks. Maybe if you breath from your diaphragm (area under rib cage) when you're singing it will help.
