Many thanks to subbing team WITH S2. Without your hardworks, it's impossible for people who doesn't understand korean like me can enjoy this great drama. Appreciate it!!

This drama has great casting, great screenplay and great story. While going deep into the tearful and intense scenes, I also enjoy very much the explicit and implicit humor scenes. One of the best korean drama I must say.

I actually agreed with you that the first episode was slow. I enjoyed it because I enjoyed watching Ye jin but there wasn't a lot happening in episode 1. The first episode was just supposed to give the audience all the background details. Having said this, I did recognise the high quality cinematography, background musics and attention to details even from episode 1 although I think many audience would be looking forward to much more if they are non SYJ or GWS fans.

This drama sucked you in more and more and I think for me, some key developments were the appearance of the little girl En soo, when EH and DJ had their first attempts dating another person, when they broke off, and then the professor came and DJ's first love appeared. Along the way, the doctor and EH's sister were making us all laughed alot. Next you realized how great were the acting and the scripts. It would not be long before the audience realised how much DJ and EH still loved each other and started feeling for them. When all the elements came together, you would fall in love with this drama and realised this was one of the best Korean drama. Last but not least...the last 5 episodes were very intense. Find out for yourself!!

Actually i liked the drama right from the beginning but like Luv and Syjfan mentioned, it took time for the actual monlogues/dialogues to fully suck you in and enrapture you till the end.

I liked the fact that the cinematography was very simple for this drama, its very befitting of the characters and its storyline as well. I think that the storyline in itself is very simple, just grazing the surface of the drama and the first thing that hits you was the red string and its symbolism. (i personally thought it was a a rip off of Loveholic's drama but a good metaphor and appropriately used in the drama itself) Even the supporting characters played off each other wonderfully.

I think the strongest part of the drama is really its script and the dialogues. It definitely helped that SYJ played this very simple character with subtlety and realistically. But i think it was Do Jin's character that really captured me. He seems so silly on the outset but yet his dialogue was so.... profound and hard hitting at the same time.

I think my favorite part of the drama really was the ending monologue and the wedding scene. Yes the end sort of came out of nowhere but i think that the writer/PD really wrapped it up beautifully. I personally loved the wedding scene because of the fact that it showed real emotions and something of how i would react in that situation if i was in it myself. She was like a deer caught in headlights but really came out of the situation gracefully. I think it was then that it really showed what each meant to the other.

The wedding i thought was a closure scene for her on the surface as many i think viewed it as, myself included but rewatching the scene over again also showed me that she truly wasnt over him and the bonds of marriage really is more than just a piece of paper. I guess its the helpless romantic in me speaking.

Anyway im so happy that there is some analysis in this thread.

Maybe we should discuss favorite scenes and dissect them. Ill add more later on since im rewatching it again. B)

I was really excited yesterday when I learned that the english sub of this series is already complete. I've been reading a lot of good reviews of "Alone in Love" that's why I am simply eager to watch it. I will share my own reviews once I finish watching this.

연애시대 (Alone in Love) DVD Up For Preorder

yeonaedvd.jpg

Korean TV Dramas are seeing more changes this year than in the last half decade, with most productions going the American way (shooting everything, or at least a good portion of the show before broadcast), and now even people behind the camera joining from Chungmuro -- in the past it was only actors. One of the most shining examples is 연애시대 (Alone in Love), produced by Han Ji-Seung. It was adapted from a Japanese novel, and it feels like everything but a Trendy Drama.

Pairing Son Ye-Jin of 작업의 정석 (The Art of Seduction) -- in a role finally showing there's something going on except that (really) pretty face -- with Gam Woo-Sung of 왕의 남자 (The King and The Clown), this is one hell of a show, with a great script, very good acting, and quite the charming atmosphere. The price might seem a little steep, but consider that:

1) This was shot in HD, and to take advantage of that, we get two episodes per Disc instead of the usual 3

2) There's a TON of really interesting extras

3) Last but not least, English Subs.

Out in early July, but before that you're getting a review. Now, if you want, here's your Preorder.

I just finished this drama and i must say that episode 15 is very emotional. This drama has the best , that i have seen, actors. The supporting actors were GREAT!! and the other little characters were terrific too. I really loved the little girl; she's so adorable. I didn't really get the end with her and the little boy..5years ago>>// I can't wait for future works from all the 4 actors.

They're still showing this drama where I live and I just finished episode 6 and was watching some on youtube...but I have to ask....

Does Hyeon joong ever appear again in this drama after episode 6 and the beginning of episode 7?

I really liked his character and if he's not going to be in it, I don't know if I I want to watch it anymore. He was the highlight of this drama and although I do like the storyline, I really want him to be in the remaining episodes of the drama.

Really agree with you on the episode 15 thing. For me....I felt a lot for Ye jin's character from episode 13 to 16 and especially 15.

The scriptwriter did a marvellous job too.

I can understand how you feel about episode 1 to 6 because he was a big part of the drama. But I think many of us felt that the second half of this drama was even better than the first half. So keep watching and like many of us, you maybe richly rewarded with this Korean drama experience.

The DVD set definitely looks great, but the one thing that worries me is the english subtitles. SBS Dramas Boxset tend to have bad english subtitles. Hopefully the subtitles won't be like the one in Fashion 70s.

I think after 9 the drama focused more on Eun Ho and Dong Ji and both have new interests....

First time to post on this thread.

I just finished ep. 8, where EH asked DJ that they shouldn't meet each other anymore and start over again separately.

'Tho, i have read the conclusion of the series, im really looking forward to finish it and somehow i'll feel the things that you guys experienced watching AIL.

In my opinion, so far, the series is exceptional, from the actors to the storyline and to the conflicts in the story.

This series offers reality, i must say. Watching this makes me feel the vulnerability in people. I saw two people in pain and struggle because of the the circumstances in the past, though sometimes i really got impatient and asked, why shouldn't they tell that they have still feelings for each other and start all over again. But i guess, thats the beauty of the story. And in life, sometimes it really takes so much time for the wounds to get healed.

I really liked the character of the doctor, i wish i have a friend like that. :)

Just my 2 cents.
