metaphoric fame and glory certainly is symbolic of 'white tower'' but ii was referring to the literal building project they're expecting.. myeong-min is expecting to build a new hospital since they are out-growing their current.. and the talk in the beginning episodes was who will be where.. and surgery team is supposed to take the 3rd tier.. that would be the white tower.. but the deputy director didn't seem really sincere about that offer.... he seemed to be flashing the 'whiter tower' card to dr. lee and dr. jang for a while.. but maybe i was the only one who interrupted that way? not sure..

thx for answering my question. I forgot about that big hospital project they were building at the start... In the midst of all that politics, the lawsuit, the illness and of course the death I totally forgot about that new hospital.

Well... I guess while the "white tower" is synonymous with fame and glamour, Dr Choi never really wanted it so it wasn't a surprise to me in that sense that he missed out and Dr Jang, he did sort of have his share of it, just that he wanted more more and more and of course, he well, you know. Which is the reason I got confused reading your statement in that light. heh. silly me.

I miss this show! Any chance there'd be a director's cut DVD I wonder. Seems to me this is one show that would benefit from a DC version

yes .the white tower ..the project that was never really in time for dr jang to realise his ambition where he can head the cancer departement there .. that was his ultimate dream ...and in ties in with his letter at the end ..~ .

i think the deputy director did intend to make dr jang head it .but still he will be overall control of it since dr jang become what he is .because of his help to in a way ...

but then what happpen and with the medical legal case and the condition of dr jang ..i think at the end of it ..the deputy director already erased him out of his list ..

I raced through the latest episodes and am now impatiently waiting for my episodes 13 and 14 to be done

I'd be most grateful if anyone could explain more in detail how did not doing the biopsy caused the patient's death. I know it should have been done because the patient was suffering from something else other than the plain tumour that Dr Jang had diagnosed it to be... ?

I know when the forensic pathologist conducted the autopsy, he found no fault with the operation, then why was it that during trial (I cheated and watched bits of ep 14 live streaming) the young doctor Dr Yeom suddenly admitted he was at fault?

In a nutshell, I'm rather confused about the politics and medical situation surrounding the whole event. I only know Dr Choi seems to be biding his time in this cold cold hospital, and that makes me sad.

i agree with you re:biopsy causing death etc. etc after the successful operation of the spleen. dr. jang is the surgeon while dr. choi is the oncologist and the consulting physician. if dr. choi is thorough enough he should have done the biopsy himself first before asking dr. jang to do the surgical operation. it is the consulting oncologist who makes the recommendation for surgery. and why would dr. choi insist on going to jeju island and ask dr. jang about the biopsy personally. he should have remained on the hospital and not just let an inexperienced intern to attend to th epatient. my late mother was in and out of the hospital the last years of her life. i remember she had an episode when her attending physician was out of town, the interns of st. lukes hospital(the best in the philippines) just called on another specialist on deck to take over, showed her charts, records, ct-scans, x-rays, test results and made spot decisions. the interns were not allowed to do anything by themselves. there was one emergency when 5 interns attended to my mom while her attending physicians just gave them instructions via cellphone, this happened 1am. i can't believe that only one doctor attended to th epatient. in ' surgeon bong dalhee'(admittedly a sly copycat of 'grey's anatomy), interns in droves would attend to a patient in trouble with a senior doctor making th einstructions. this is one of the unrealistic aspects of this drama, were there no other senior surgeons/consulting physicians on hand to look after him? didn't they try to get an x-ray, mri, ct-scan when he was convulsing and find out the underlying cause. maybe they should have called in dr. gregory house ! the drama maybe serious and not your usual kdrama but 'white tower' based on a japanese drama should have been updated re: medical procedures.

it's so funny how dr.choi is so slow in diagnosis because he wants really to make sure that his findings are correct.. so he keeps on making tests.. after tests... after tests..... lol

i loved the drama as a whole.. learned a lot about medical technicalities.. it wasnt as gross as i expected it to be.. i even found the 'beating heart' quite awesome..

anyway, i didnt understand the ending though.. it was so all of a sudden that dr.jang caught cancer.... and

died???

white tower with eng subs just started showing on azntv (cable channel 69 in the bay area, california). the first ep aired today at 7:30pm PST after Jumong (which is now up to the late 40s eps-didn't realize it got so far along - need to start catching it)

Much much much deserved. I'm sure the concert on the 28th will be bittersweet for all attending...

I swear I had an onset of tears coming when KMM gave his acceptance speech. Nothing very touching or anything... but like given his recounts of his struggle to find success.. and how he nearly stopped believing in himself and his craft in those radio shows that Jahye posted before...

I was just incredibly happy to see him finally get recognition.

And also, booo can we see footage of the concert I wonder. Its said that the concert will air behind the scenes never seen before footage of the drama.

I feel like I'm going through a drama slump right now. I think after watching White Tower, my standards for dramas raised so much it's too hard for me to really fall in love with a drama. I think some dramas out right now are pretty good, but for some reason I'm not in love, love with any of them and not really as devoted to them.

This is so random, but remember the radio show KMM went on and the radio DJ, Choi Hwa Jung, was such a diehard fan of his??

She's one of Choi Jin Shil's best friends. Best friends with same taste?

Anyone else (besides me and Choi Jin Shil ) expect no one else but KMM to win? For a lot of people Song Il Gook was a contender, but I thought KMM had in the bag, compared to the other nominees he was in a category all by himself.

We should all have a <White Tower> celebration... since I assume none of us are going to be at that <White Tower> concert...?

Well, in all fairness I have never watched much of <Jumong> so I can't really say who the best actor was... But I DO know that KMM was incredible here and I agree he has set the bar. Or rather, the drama as a whole set the bar really high. Its a whole new level of entertainment.

I didn't think that <White Tower> would win in the best drama award category.. because those tend to go to blockbuster type dramas with grand-scale production like <Jumong> BUT! :excl: I was kinda hoping Lee Seon Gyun would win for best newcomer. I watched Park Hae Jin in <Seven Princesses> and he was okay.. Like not great, but good/ okayish average for a newcomer but... I thought there were other deserving candidates by far, like Lee Seon gyun or even Oh Manseok.

I actually nearly switched off my streaming because I thought this Baeksang Awards wasn't giving the right awards to the right people... but boy, am I glad I stayed and watched till the very end!! :D

Now what would REALLY make my day is if they announced plans for a director's cut DVD
