Actor Hwang Jung-min is attempting his first reality entertainment show 30 years after his debut. 

According to multiple entertainment officials on the 19th, Hwang Jung-min will appear as the first guest on tvN's 'Sister's Direct Delivery', which will premiere in July. Hwang Jung-min is an actor who is not often seen in entertainment shows. He has met the public through performances and movies rather than entertainment activities, but it is known that he appeared as a surprise guest on 'Sister's Direct Delivery' out of loyalty to Yeom Jeong-ah, who co-starred in the movie 'Cross'. 

‘Sister’s Direct Delivery (directed by Kim Se-hee)’ is a salty fishing village reality show about Yeom Jeong-ah, Ahn Eun-jin, Park Jun-myeon, and Dex, who start living in a seaside village for 3 days and 2 nights. It contains a variety of journeys, including various jobs by the sea and seasonal food that can only be tasted there. 

It is expected that Hwang Jung-min will appear on a reality entertainment program for the first time since his debut. There is growing curiosity about what kind of appearance Hwang Jung-min, who made a mark in the online travel world with the combination of 'Hwang Joji (Hwang Jung-min, Jo Seung-woo, Ji Jin-hee)', will show in his first reality program. 

Hwang Jung-min will be performing 'Macbeth' at the National Theater's Haeoreum Theater starting July 13th, and the movies 'Cross' and 'Veteran 2' are about to be released.

'Veteran 2' starring Hwang Jung-min and Jung Hae-in is targeting Chuseok theaters.   

As a result of IZE confirmation on the 19th, investment and distribution company CJ ENM plans to present the movie 'Veteran 2' to audiences on Chuseok. 

'Veteran 2' is an action crime investigation drama in which the youngest detective Park Seon-woo (Jung Hae-in) joins the violent crime investigation team of veteran Detective Seo Do-cheol (Hwang Jung-min), who catches bad guys until the end, and pursues a serial killer who caused an uproar in the world. It is a sequel to the movie 'Veteran', which attracted 13.41 million viewers. 

'Veteran 2' was originally scheduled to be released this winter. It is the sequel to 'Veteran', released for the first time in 9 years, and was selected as the most anticipated movie in theaters in 2024. 

It is expected that 'Veteran 2' will be released earlier than its original release date. After being released in Cannes, France as an official invitation to the 'Midnight Screening' non-competitive section of the 77th Cannes International Film Festival in May, the work received a barrage of favorable reviews. As a result of receiving a better-than-expected response, audiences who saw 'Veteran 2' at Cannes are continuing to talk about the film on social media. It is known that some spoiler content was also shared. 

Accordingly, CJ ENM, the distributor of 'Veteran 2', is positively considering moving up the scheduled release date. It has been reported that final discussions are underway to release the film during the Chuseok holiday in September. 

While 'Veteran 2' is being positively reviewed for its Chuseok release this year, 'Harbin', which CJ ENM originally targeted for a fall release, is expected to be released this winter.



‘Harbin’ stars Hyun Bin and Park Jung-min. It is a spy drama that depicts the breathtaking chase and suspicion between those who head to Harbin in 1909 for a single purpose and those who pursue them. 

The most anticipated films of the second half of this year are ‘Veteran 2’ and ‘Harbin’. Although the release dates of the two works are expected to overlap, audience expectations are expected to grow even higher.

The upcoming sequel to “Veteran” has revealed a new poster and its premiere date!
 

Directed by Ryoo Seung Wan, known for “The Battleship Island” and “Escape from Mogadishu,” “Veteran” is a crime action film following a veteran investigation team pursuing an arrogant third-generation chaebol.
 

On June 20, the distributor confirmed, “‘Veteran 2’ will debut nationwide in theaters this September. Following its global premiere in May, the film will be released after four month.”
 

“Veteran 2” continues the story of detective Seo Do Chul (Hwang Jung Min) and his crime investigation team, now joined by detective Park Sun Woo (Jung Hae In).
 

 

The movie premiered globally in May at the 77th Cannes International Film Festival’s ‘Midnight Screening,’ receiving applause from local audiences as well as foreign media.
 

“Veteran 2” reunites the original cast and crew, highlighting their strong chemistry. Jung Hae In’s role as the youngest detective adds to the film’s overall quality.

 

The production team remarked, “Detective Seo Do Chul returns to audiences after nine years. With new characters joining, we expect to deliver even more thrilling action.”

The 10 million-viewer film 'Spring of Seoul' starring Hwang Jung-min and Jung Woo-sung has been selected as the Korean entry for the 97th Academy Awards International Feature Film category. 

According to the Korean Film Council on the 4th, 'Spring of Seoul' was unanimously selected as the Korean entry for the 97th Academy Awards International Feature Film category. 

The jury stated the reason for the selection, "There was almost no disagreement about the film's perfection in that it evenly encompasses the film's dramatic fun in dealing with tension, the directing ability that maximizes the actors' acting feast into the realm of mise-en-scène, and its outstanding insight into history."
 

They also added, "We hope that the film's portrayal of the illusion of charisma and the caricature of evil will be sought as a timely metaphor for the film's thematic aspect and will be nominated for the Academy Award." 

'Spring of Seoul' is a film depicting the 12/12 military rebellion that shook South Korea in 1979, and stars Hwang Jung-min and Jung Woo-sung. It was invited to major overseas film festivals such as the 23rd New York Asian Film Festival and the 26th Udine Far East Film Festival. It was released in Korea in November last year and surpassed 10 million viewers in about a month, and was a box office success, mobilizing over 13 million viewers in the end. 

The 97th Academy Awards ceremony is scheduled to be held in March of next year. Whether or not 'Spring in Seoul', which is being submitted this time, will be selected as a preliminary candidate will be confirmed at the end of this year.

“I, the Executioner” (also known as “Veteran 2”) is off to a strong start at the box office!

On September 14, the Korean Film Council announced that as of 2 p.m. KST, “I, the Executioner” had officially surpassed 1 million moviegoers at the Korean box office. The new sequel to the hit 2015 film “Veteran” was released on September 13, meaning that it took less than two days to reach the milestone.

Notably, “I, the Executioner” surpassed 1 million moviegoers one day faster than the original “Veteran” film, which reached the milestone on the third day of its release back in 2015.

“I, the Executioner” is now tied with “The Roundup: Punishment” for the fastest film of 2024 to hit the 1 million mark, overtaking recent blockbusters “Exhuma” and “12.12: The Day”—the latter of which was the biggest box office hit of 2023.

By September 15, the film had already reached a total of 1,271,191 moviegoers.

In honor of the film’s achievement, “I, the Executioner” stars Jung Hae In, Hwang Jung Min, Ahn Bo Hyun, Jang Yoon Joo, Shin Seung Hwan, Oh Dae Hwan, and Kim Shi Hoo joined director Ryoo Seung Wan for a celebratory group photo.

“I, the Executioner” (also known as “Veteran 2”) shows no signs of slowing down at the box office!

On September 18, the Korean Film Council announced that as of 9 a.m. KST that morning, “I, the Executioner” had officially reached a total of 4,001,565 moviegoers.

The long-awaited sequel to the hit 2015 film “Veteran,” “I, the Executioner” was first released on September 13, meaning that it took less than six days to hit the 4 million mark.

Not only did “I, the Executioner” reach the milestone faster than the original “Veteran” film (which took 9 days to surpass 4 million moviegoers), but it also beat the recent smash hits “Exhuma” (9 days), “The Roundup” (7 days), and “12.12: The Day” (12 days).

In honor of this latest achievement, stars Jung Hae In, Hwang Jung Min, and Shin Seung Hwan posed for a celebratory photo together.
