Lee Joon Gi And Moon Chae Won Face A Dreaded Possibility In “Flower Of Evil”

Flower of Evil” gives a look at suspenseful scenes in the next episode as the fate of Do Hyun Soo hangs in the balance!

The thriller drama is about a man named Do Hyun Soo (Lee Joon Gi), who lives under the identity of Baek Hee Sung to hide his past. His detective wife Cha Ji Won (Moon Chae Won) begins to suspect that he may be a serial killer, and the couple is ultimately forced to confront a dark truth they never wanted to face.

The last episode ended on a suspenseful note with Choi Jae Sub (Choi Young Joon) arriving to arrest Do Hyun Soo as the key suspect in the case of the Gagyeong village head murder. In the first set of new stills, Do Hyun Soo and Cha Ji Won are sitting opposite Choi Jae Sub at a table and there’s a tension in the air like they’re in the calm before a storm.

Do Hyun Soo looks unwavering, as though he’d expected this since he decided in the past to cover for the murder committed by his sister Do Hae Soo (Jang Hee Jin). However, Cha Ji Won is anxious as she’s wanted to defend and protect him. Meanwhile, Choi Jae Sub is hard to read, although he looks calm as he regards the couple after announcing that he’ll be arresting Do Hyun Soo.

flower-of-evil-1.jpeg

The three characters’ relationship has suddenly changed from just being two friendly colleagues and her spouse to now being a detective, a suspect, and the suspect’s wife who’s also a detective. It seems like Choi Jae Sub could put Do Hyun Soo in handcuffs at any second, and viewers are curious to see if it really does play out like everyone expects.

On top of that, at the end of the last episode it was revealed that the real Baek Hee Sung (Kim Ji Hoon) was an accomplice in the Yeonju serial killings. Viewers are waiting to find out how Do Hyun Soo will react when he learns that the accomplice he’s been even risking his life to find has been close to him, and whether he’ll figure this out before he’s arrested.

flower-of-evil-2.jpeg

In a second set of stills, Do Hyun Soo’s sister Do Hae Soo looks resolute in her decision as she arrives at the station where Cha Ji Won works, and Cha Ji Won appears uneasy and surprised over her arrival.

In the last episode, Do Hae Soo remembered a clue about the real Baek Hee Sung, setting off a new development and giving her the potential to erase the label of “accomplice” that’s followed her younger brother Do Hyun Soo for so many years.

In addition, Do Hae Soo wanted to free Do Hyun Soo of the false charge related to the Gagyeong village head murder. She sympathized with her brother and wanted to immediately go tell Cha Ji Won the truth, but Do Hyun Soo stopped her. However, she didn’t give up and called Cha Ji Won to say, ‘I know who the real killer is in the ‘Gagyeong village head murder.'” She promised that once she’d finished what she needed to do, she would go to the detective and tell her the truth about that day.

Therefore, many viewers are wondering if the scene in the new stills features Do Hae Soo going to the police station to tell Cha Ji Won the truth and are curious to see if she’ll be able to clear Do Hyun Soo’s name.

The next episode of “Flower of Evil” airs on September 9 at 10:50 p.m. KST.

4 Things We Loved & 1 Thing We Hated About Episodes 12 & 13 Of “Flower Of Evil”

4bdebdb4348e478a8965140f4c6b9d5c.jpeg?s=

As we head into the final few episodes of tvN’s “Flower of Evil,” one thing is clear: the writers are not idling around.

Do Hyun Soo’s (Lee Joon Gi) past is finally catching up with him as his father’s accomplice, and the real Baek Hee Sung (Kim Ji Hoon) sets up his gameboard. These episodes are straight out of a horror film and swallow viewers up in suspense and anxiety. Here are the things we loved and hated about episodes 12 and 13.

Warning: spoilers for the new episodes below.

Spoiler

LOVED: Baek Eun Ha’s reunion with her dad

The scene that will soothe everyone’s heart this week is between Baek Eun Ha (Jung Seo Yeon) and Do Hyun Soo. After a tense confrontation with Choi Jae Sub (Choi Young Joon), Hyun Soo and Cha Ji Won (Moon Chae Won) go to pick Eun Ha up from her grandmother’s home. The father-daughter pair automatically embrace and cry while holding each other.

jung-seo-yeon-lee-joon-gi-flower-of-evil
jung-seo-yeon-lee-joon-gi-moon-chae-won-

Considering that before this scene Hyun Soo was unsure if he’d still be able to be Eun Ha’s dad, this scene holds so much weight. The way he cries for Eun Ha and holds her tighter makes your heart hurt and flip all at once. Since he’s finally on the path to understanding his emotions, you can see how much he loves and cherishes her in this scene. One thing is for sure: if there isn’t a happy ending for this family at the end of the drama, then what is the point?

LOVED: Do Hae Soo calling out Kim Mu Jin

While Kim Mu Jin (Seo Hyun Woo) has grown on viewers, his treatment of Hyun Soo has always been something that makes it difficult to fully love him. Before episode 12, no one had ever really called him out for his past actions against Hyun Soo. During a desperate attempt to stop Do Hae Soo (Jang Hee Jin) from confessing to the murder of the village foreman, the pair get in a heated argument. When discussing how everyone in the village treated Hyun Soo, Hae Soo bitterly tells Mu Jin that he is no different from them. Surprisingly, Mu Jin agrees with Hae Soo and admits that she’s right.

It’s about time that someone called him out for this. It was always annoying to watch him act morally superior at the beginning of the drama knowing that he stoned Hyun Soo after tying him to a tree. This scene feels like a turning point for Mu Jin, and viewers can see that he’s come a long way from the judgmental reporter we saw in the first episodes.

LOVED: Cha Ji Won’s pep talk in the car to Hyun Soo

Fans will not be disappointed with the teamwork between Ji Won and Hyun Soo following the turning point of their relationship in episode 11. After the sting operation to catch Baek Man Woo (Song Jong Hak) as his father’s accomplice fails, Ji Won and Hyun Soo share a sweet moment in the car. While Ji Won warns Hyun Soo to no longer get involved with the case, Hyun Soo admits that he is terrified that the killer will harm their family. Ji Won takes his hand and reassures him that the police will arrest the accomplice and Hyun Soo will feel silly for being scared in the first place.

 moon-chae-won-lee-joon-gi-flower-of-evilmoon-chae-won-flower-of-evil2.jpgmoon-chae-won-flower-of-evil3.jpglee-joon-gi-flower-of-evil.jpg

This scene is really endearing. Not only do you get to see them work as a team, but for a moment, they have switched roles. Usually, Hyun Soo is the level-headed one that comforts Ji Won through the rough times. This time it’s the opposite. Ji Won offers up the logical thinking and soft touches to comfort an emotional Hyun Soo. It’s such a tender moment, and it shows just how far their marriage has come.

LOVED: The game between the real Baek Hee Sung and Hyun Soo

One thing that’s so unique about “Flower of Evil” is its use of fate and past connections. Usually, it’s the leads that have a heavily fated connection that can be traced all the way back to their childhoods. However, in this drama, fate ties Baek Hee Sung and Hyun Soo together. The new episodes finally piece together their past and set up the intense cat and mouse chase between the two.

In episode 12, Hyun Soo works together with Jae Sub to draw out the person who he believes is his father’s accomplice. The pair set a trap to catch Yum Sang Chul (Kim Ki Moo) and Man Woo to prove that they were involved in the serial killings.

 lee-joon-gi-flower-of-evil2.jpglee-joon-gi-flower-of-evil3.jpglee-joon-gi-flower-of-evil4.jpg

However, in episode 13, viewers discover that Baek Hee Sung has figured out their trap and works together with his parents to frame Hyun Soo for the murder of their housekeeper.

While Baek Hee Sung’s cunning behavior is hard to stomach, it’s the perfect set up to their inevitable showdown that will be coming in the final episodes. For every emotional action Hyun Soo takes in these episodes, Hee Sung makes a calm and collected move that puts Hee Sung in more danger. Both of them were groomed one way or another by Do Min Seok (Choi Byung Mo), and this seems like a final test. Which student is smarter? Hee Sung or Hyun Soo? While Hee Sung has the upper hand by the end of these episodes, no one can count Hyun Soo out. These episodes really affirm that these two characters are two sides of the same coin and it’s exhilarating to watch.

HATED: Ji Won losing trust in Hyun Soo

The final few scenes of episode 13 will have fans’ hearts breaking in half. After finding a fingerprint on the tape found at the murder scene of the Baek family’s housekeeper, Ji Won begins to suspect that Hyun Soo is the culprit. She rushes off to her home and lifts Hyun Soo’s fingerprint to compare it to the one at the scene. Much to her dismay, they match perfectly. Believing that her husband has finally crossed the line between good and evil, Ji Won goes to arrest Hyun Soo in his workshop.

 lee-joon-gi-flower-of-evil5.jpglee-joon-gi-flower-of-evil6.jpg

This scene is brutal. After the downright euphoric events of episode 11, this scene feels like a letdown. How many times does their marriage need to be tested with the same trick? How many times does the audience have to sit through Hyun Soo being framed? While Ji Won is perfectly justified—Hyun Soo wouldn’t reveal his whereabouts, and the physical evidence is pretty damning—it doesn’t make the scene any less frustrating. After episode 11, it felt like it was finally time to see them united as a team, and this scene pulls the rug from under the audience’s feet. Luckily, hope isn’t completely lost for these two. The preview for next week does make it seem as if they’ll be working together while on the run. Hopefully, next week’s episodes will feel more victorious for Ji Won and Hyun Soo.

A new behind-the-scenes video of “Flower of Evil” has been released!

The clip starts off with Lee Joon Gi and Moon Chae Won rehearsing together. Lee Joon GI is cold when the cameras are rolling, but once the cameras are off, he’s all smiles, and he jokes around to keep the atmosphere lively and bright.

lee-joon-gi-moon-chae-won4.jpg

Kim Ji Hoon, who plays the psychopath in the drama, pairs up with Jang Hee Jin to rehearse the scene where his character stabs hers. They joke about the stabbing happening out of nowhere, and Kim Ji Hoon adds, “Maybe she turns out to be a great fighter.”

Then Lee Joon Gi and Kim Ji Hoon rehearse their fighting scenes together. Lee Joon Gi can’t help but laugh at Kim Ji Hoon’s funny way of talking, and Kim Ji Hoon smiles whenever his co-star throws a joke at him. The two are both serious and playful as they team up to make the scene more realistic. During break, Lee Joon Gi jokes, “Let’s cut your hair first,” and he pretends to use the fake knife to chop Kim Ji Hoon’s long hair off.

lee-joon-gi-kim-ji-hoo.jpg

The two pair up again for an outdoor fight this time, and they’re in high spirits as they rehearse for the important scene. Lee Joon Gi pins Kim Ji Hoon down, and Kim Ji Hoon can’t help but laugh as he comments, “You’re a cruel man.” Feeling sorry that his co-star has to face the hot sun, Lee Joon Gi covers his face up with a towel.

Pinoy song 'She' featured in hit K-drama 'Flower of Evil'

MANILA — It might not be immediately apparent given its English lyrics, but the song that played during one of the touching scenes in episode seven of the hit K-drama, “Flower of Evil,” was from a Pinoy artist.

The song, titled “She,” played in the background when the character of Gong Mi-Ja, played by Nam Gi-Ae, was sharing a tart with her adorable granddaughter Baek Eun-Ha, portrayed by Jung Seo-Yeon.

She gave the kid the treat after lashing out at her due to paranoia, ripping one of her books. It was how she apologized.

“She,” a cheery, coming-of-age song, was being played at the cafe they ate at.

The song is an original from SAB, or Sabine Cerrado, a Pinoy artist signed with Star Music.

It’s the first time the song had featured in a show. It was earlier used in the hit BL (boys’ love) series, “Hello Stranger.”

It continues a recent streak of OPM songs being used in Korean shows. “No Hearts,” from Pinay sister duo Gibbs, was featured in Mnet’s “Good Girl” and MBC’s “Find Me in Your Memory.”

“Flower of Evil” is a K-drama about a detective and her husband who harbors a mysterious past. Things begin to unravel between them when a series of unexplained murders hint that their relationship might not be as perfect as it first seemed.
