Lately, I rewatched this drama again, I think it's my fourth time, and I still cry in some episodes. I still find this drama really touching and each times I watch it I have different feelings and interpretation to it especially the ending. I think now I have even deeper understanding to this drama. For the ending I interpret it that Andrea will actually go back to loving Eunha even though he already became the priest. I suppose he could quit being a priest and be together with Eunha, this is because he said "if Eunha woke up, shall they fall in love once again?" so I interpret it as they will be together since Eunha woke up at last. My first time watching I really love this drama, especially their brother sister relationship, but I wasn't too comfortable with Andrea always wearing the priest clothings all the time. But now I got used to it, and it doesn't matter to me anymore. I think it's such a pity that many people didn't notice this drama, maybe partly because of the serious topic, and depressing storyline that puts people off, but it's still one of my most memorable drama now. I still enjoy listening to it's heart wrenching OST here and then. There's hardly any drama like this lately, pure and beautiful love.

btw, why is everyone writing Andrew and the sub is under Andrea. It sounds more like Andrea to me. Also, Father Peter.. it sounds like Pedro to me.

lol, maybe its the Korean way of pronounciation that's playing trick to my ear.

"Andrea" is the name used in the Korean Drama. "Andrea" is man's name in Italy, but in most parts of the world "Andrea" is a woman's name. "Andrea's" English form is "Andrew", that's why when Love Letter was aired in other countries (like the Philippines), "Andrea" was changed to "Andrew" to avoid confusion and questions as to why a man is given a woman's name.

The first time I watched this drama was like 5 or 6 years ago already, when I saw the teaser being aired during a news break. And I have since watched this drama more than a dozen times already. The sight of JHJ in priest's clothes was what drew me in. There is an air about him - so innocent, so young, so luminous - that stayed in my mind and wouldn't stay out of mind until I gave in to the urge to watch him. I don't normally watch melodramas because they give me a headache and make me feel depressed. But Jo Hyun Jae as Andrea/Andrew is very hard to resist. Not just because of his good looks, but also the because of the great acting he did.

It is true that Soo Ae played her role as the woman who can't express her love to the man she loves superbly. It is also true that Ji Jin Hee played his part as the selfish jerk so well. But their roles didn't make much of an impression on me because those characters have been played so many times in the past by so many actors. Their characters weren't that hard to portray because it has been done before by so many actors in so many dramas and movies. But Jo Hyun Jae's role as the young man who is torn between his love for God and love for a woman is a character not often written about in dramas/movies. And he delivered a superb performance.

I cannot imagine another actor (Korean or otherwise) who can play the role of Andrea as excellently as Jo Hyun Jae. For the brief span of the drama (16 eps), Jo Hyun Jae really became Andrea, and Andrea became Jo Hyun Jae. And to think that he was so young when he did this drama (23 y.o.), his first lead role, and yet there was never a trace of a newbie actor in his acting.

If there is anything wrong with this drama it is with the script and not with the acting. The acting by all 3 main characters, especially Jo Hyun Jae, is superb. The script has quite a few flaws, but after a while the flaws in the script stopped bothering me because the acting (especially JHJ) has me so engrossed and captivated. Every single episode I cried with Andrea. Even in those eps when he doesn't cry, I still cry. I kept asking myself, how a writer could create such a pitiful character, and how a young newbie actor that JHJ was at the time could have acted out such a role without making the character pathetic - great writing of the "Andrea" character, great acting and great casting.

This is a must-watch for all JHJ fans and for lovers of melodramas. If you are tired of watching dramas with the same old melodrama conflicts, watch this too because the conflict here is a little bit different, not usually touched upon in other dramas.
