Plot

Set during the 1980's and 1990's, a prosecutor looks into the corrupt relationship between politicians, businessmen, and the media. Lee Gang-Hee (Song Kang-Ho) is an editor for a conservative newspaper. He helps an assemblyman become the leading candidate to become the president.

Song Kang Ho Confirmed To Star In New Drama Based On The Film "Inside Men"

Actor Song Kang Ho is set to make his return to the small screen!

On September 12, Hive Media Corp announced that “Inside Men,” the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time in Korea which also won Best Picture at the Grand Bell Awards and the Blue Dragon Film Awards, will be made into a drama. They also confirmed that actor Song Kang Ho will be part of the cast.

The drama, tentatively titled “Inside Men,” will delve into events and characters from the 1980s and 1990s. Song Kang Ho will portray Lee Kang Hee, a figure who orchestrates and influences the political and economic scene in South Korea. The performance of the renowned actor, known for his roles in films such as “Parasite,” “A Taxi Driver,” “The Attorney,” and “The Host,” is highly anticipated.

The drama will be directed by Mo Wan Il, who directed “The World of the Married” and “Misty” as well as the recently released Netflix series “The Frog.” The script will be written by Lee Ki Chul, known for “Escape from Mogadishu,” “Assassination,” and “The Thieves.”

Meanwhile, the drama will be produced by Hive Media Corp, the company behind films such as “12.12: The Day,” “Deliver Us from Evil,” and “The Drug King.” Pre-production is currently underway, with filming scheduled to start in 2025.

Song Kang-Ho cast in drama “Inside Men”

Song Kang-Ho is cast in drama series “Inside Men” (working title). The drama series is based on webcomic “Naeboojadeul” by Yoon Tae-Ho (“Moss“), which was previously made into 2015 movie “Inside Men” starring Lee Byung-Hun, Cho Seung-Woo, & Baek Yoon-Sik. For the drama series version of “Inside Men,” Song Kang-Ho will play newspaper editor Lee Gang-Hee. That character was played by Baek Yoon-Sik in the movie version. The screenplay for the drama series version is set during the 1980’s – 1990’s and will give a more detailed and closer view of the characters shown in the movie version.

Pre-production for the drama series is currently underway now and filming is expected to start in 2025. Broadcast network/platform has not yet been decided.

Based on a popular webtoon by Misaeng creator Yoon Tae-ho, the series will be expanding on the 1980-90s world pictured in the acclaimed 2015 movie by the same title.
