Facing the wrath of Yoo Yeon-seok When the Phone Rings

by tccolb

With November creeping near, the promo train is picking up steam for MBC’s new romance-thriller When the Phone Rings. As suggested by the title, said phone call forms the start of our story’s harrowing nightmare and our arranged marriage couple Yoo Yeon-seok (A Bloody Lucky Day) and Chae Soo-bin (The Fabulous) are thrown straight into the storm with the first teaser.

Opening the video on our successful hero, Baek Sa-eon (Yoo Yeon-seok) takes a stand before the media mass of flashing cameras and solemnly introduces himself as the presidential press secretary in the capital city’s big Blue House. But after dolling up for what should be a celebratory day, our tuxedoed Sa-eon is disturbed to receive a mysterious phone call, setting off a chain of misfortune for his family.

As Sa-eon rushes out still clutching his phone, the captions reveal that the caller is a blackmailer and Sa-eon demands to know who they are and what they want. However, our hero is already losing precious time as, elsewhere, his wife Hong Hee-joo (Chae Soo-bin) is frightened to face danger by herself.

Although Hee-joo tries her best to escape, we helplessly watch in the sequence as the culprit takes her hostage. The teaser then closes on Sa-eon’s angry threat in return: “Throw away any thoughts that you’re going to be arrested with grace. I’m going to make sure to catch you with my own hands.”

Also starring Heo Nam-joon (Your Honor) and Jang Gyuri (Player 2 – Master of Swindlers), production for MBC’s When the Phone Rings has PD Park Sang-woo (The Forbidden Marriage) at the helm with scripts by Kim Ji-woon (Melancholia). Slated to premiere on November 22, the webnovel adaptation will be following Doubt in the weekend slot next month.
