Character descriptions

 

Choi Deok-hee (Sol Kyung Gu) is a professor of neurosurgery at Yonsei University and president of the World Glioblastoma Society. Although he is intellectual and reliable on the outside, he will also showcase his instinct as a murderer on the inside. 

 

Jung Se Ok (Park Eun Bin) is a psychopathic doctor who is crazy about human brain studies and considers human lives to be less valuable than that of bugs. Jung Se Ok is intelligent enough to enter medical school at the age of 17, but she gets stripped of her medical license after being accused of attempted murder against her professor Choi Deok Hee.

 

Han Hyun Ho (Park Byung Eun) is an anesthesiologist who is the first person who regrets what happened to Jung Se Ok. He wants the world to know about Jung Se Ok's skills.

Sol Kyung Gu in talks to lead the medical crime thriller K-drama "Hyper Knife"

Sol Kyung Gu will reportedly star in his third K-drama since his debut.

On November 22, media outlet JTBC Entertainment shared that Sol Kyung Gu will be leading the upcoming medical crime thriller K-drama Hyper Knife. 

Sol Kyung Gu's agency and the production company that will produce the K-drama revealed that the actor got offered to lead the upcoming K-drama and he is currently reviewing it. 

This year, Sol Kyung Gu led several films such as Phantom, Kill Bok Soon, The Moon, and A Normal Family. Next year, So Kyung Gu is already booked for the upcoming K-drama The Whirlwind. He will be working with Kim Hee Ae, Lee Hae Young, Kim Hong Pa, Jeon Bae Soo, and Lee Jae Woong.

Sol Kyung Gu made his debut on the small screen in 1999 through the K-drama Happy Together. After 25 years, he will finally return to K-dramas once again. If Sol Kyung Gu confirms his casting for Hyper Knife, this will be his second upcoming K-drama project.

The actor is known for leading the hit films Yaksha: Ruthless Operations, Kingmaker, 1987: When the Day Comes, Memoir of a Murderer, and more.

Park Eun Bin may star in a medical drama for the first time since her debut!

On December 6, STARNEWS reported that Park Eun Bin will be starring in the new drama “Hyper Knife” (literal title).

In response to the report, Park Eun Bin’s agency Namoo Actors shared, “The actress received an offer [to star in the drama ‘Hyper Knife’] and is currently reviewing the offer.”

“Hyper Knife” is a medical crime thriller drama that tells the story of a doctor and murderer reuniting with her teacher who caused her to hit rock bottom. Writer Kim Seon Hee of the webtoon “Bangjungsa” (romanized title) and the OCN original series “God’s Quiz: Reboot” is in charge of writing the script.

Yoon Chan Young is in talks to join the upcoming K-drama "Hyper Knife"

Yoon Chan Young will reportedly be part of the cast of the upcoming K-drama Hyper Knife.

On March 8, media outlets reported that Yoon Chan Young recently received an offer to star in the upcoming medical thriller K-drama Hyper Knife. 

In response to the reports, Yoon Chan Young's side stated, "We did receive the offer and the actor is considering his appearance positively." 

This will possibly be the fourth upcoming K-drama of Yoon Chan Young. 

The actor is set to star in the upcoming K-dramas Your Honor, High School Return of a Gangster, and All of Us Are Dead Season 2. 

Yoon Chan Young made his acting debut in 2013 as a child actor. Since then he has starred in several K-dramas. 

In 2022, he starred in the hit Netflix original K-drama All of Us Are Dead with Park Ji Hu, Lomon, Cho Yi Hyun, Yoo In Soo, Kim Byung Chul, and more.

This K-drama made him more known not only in Korea but also to overseas viewers. He will return to the second season of the series. 

Last year, Yoon Chan Young led the K-drama Delivery Man with Bang Min Ah, Kim Min Seok, Park Jung Hak, Kim Seung Soo, and Woo Tae Ha.

 

 

Hyper Knife will tell the story of  Jeon Se Ok, a doctor and murderer, who will reunite with her teacher who made her life a mess.

The upcoming K-drama will be written by Kim Sun Hee who also wrote the K-dramas Man Who Dies to Live and Night Watchman's Journal. It will be produced by Dongpung and Vlad Studios.

Yoon Chan Young got the offer to play the role of Seo Young Joo. He is the bodyguard of Park Eun Bin's character Jeon Se Ok. He decided to stand by her despite knowing she was a murderer because she saved his life. 

Hyper Knife will begin filming after the casts are finalized. The upcoming K-drama will have a total of 8 episodes.

On April 3, upcoming drama “Hyper Knife” (literal title) confirmed its star-studded cast consisting of Sol Kyung Gu, Park Eun Bin, Park Byung Eun, and Yoon Chan Young.

“Hyper Knife” is a medical crime thriller drama that depicts the fierce battle and growth of two crazy geniuses as Doctor Se Ok (Park Eun Bin), who once had a promising past, and her mentor Deok Hee (Sol Kyung Gu), who caused her to hit rock bottom, reunite.

Writer Kim Seon Hee of the webtoon “Bangjungsa” (romanized title) and the OCN original series “God’s Quiz: Reboot” and director Kim Jung Hyun who helmed “Awaken” and “Crazy Love” will be working together on the drama.

Sol Kyung Gu will play the world’s greatest neurosurgeon and mentor Deok Hee who kicked out his student Se Ok from the operating room for good. Park Eun Bin will transform into the remarkable genius Se Ok who was once called a genius doctor but now lives as a shadow doctor of illegal operation rooms.

Furthermore, Park Byung Eun plays anesthesiologist Han Hyun Ho who thinks it’s a great shame that the world cannot witness Se Ok’s skills, while Yoon Chan Young will transform into Seo Young Joo who always protects Se Ok by her side like a shadow.

The upcoming K-drama Hyper Knife confirmed its main leads.

On April 3, CJ ENM officially confirmed that  Hyper Knife will be led by Sol Kyung Gu, Park Eun Bin, Yoon Chan Young, and Park Byung Eun. 

It was also confirmed that Hyper Knife had already begun filming. 

Hyper Knife is a medical crime thriller K-drama that will showcase the story of two crazy geniuses. One is a genius doctor working in an illegal operating room and the other is her teacher, the world's leading neurosurgeon.

The medical thriller K-drama will be the collaboration work of director Kim Jung Hyun (Crazy Love and My Fellow Citizens!) and writer Kim Sun Hee  (Man Who Dies to Live and Night Watchman's Journal). Dongpung and Vlad Studios will produce the upcoming series.

Hyper Knife will have a total of 8 episodes. There is no official confirmation yet on the release date and broadcast channel of the upcoming K-drama.

 

Sol Kyung Gu will portray the role of Choi Deok Hee. He is the world's best neurosurgeon. He is also a teacher who permanently kicked a student into the operating room because she was confused with her love life. 

Park Eun Bin will portray the role of Jung Se Ok. She is an extraordinary genius doctor but because of an incident, she now lives as a shadow surrogate surgery doctor who works in an illegal operating room. 

Park Byung Eun will play the character named Han Hyun Ho. He is an anesthesiologist who is the first person who regrets what happened to Jung Se Ok. He wants the world to know about Jung Se Ok's skills. 

Lastly, Yoon Chan Young will give life to the character named Seo Young Joo. He is always there for Jung Se Ok.

Sol Kyung-Gu will play Deok-Hee, who is the best neurosurgeon in the world. Park Eun-Bin will play genius doctor Se-Ok. Due to a conflict with Deok-Hee, Se-Ok’s career plummeted to the point that she now works as a shadow doctor in illegal operation facility.

On August 12, Disney+ announced that the upcoming medical thriller K-drama will premiere in the first half of 2025. 

Hyper Knife will showcase the story and connection of two crazy geniuses. One is a genius doctor working in an illegal surgery clinic. The other is her teacher, the world's leading neurosurgeon who caused her downfall.

Director Kim Jung Hyun (Crazy Love and My Fellow Citizens!) and writer Kim Sun Hee  (Man Who Dies to Live and Night Watchman's Journal) will work together for the upcoming Disney original K-drama. Dongpung and Vlad Studios will produce the upcoming series.

Disney+ has confirmed the release of Hyper Knife for 2025. Moreover, Park Eun Bin, Sol Kyung Gu, Yoon Chan Young, and Park Byung Eun's casting have also been confirmed. 

Hyper Knife is a medical thriller that portrays the battle of wits between Se Ok (Park Eun Bin), a genius doctor who fell from grace, and her mentor Deok Hee (Sol Kyung Gu) who kicked her to the bottom.
