Ji Chang Wook may star in a new crime drama!

On November 14, OSEN reported that Ji Chang Wook is positively reviewing the offer to star in the new drama “Bulk” (literal title).

In response to the report, Ji Chang Wook’s agency Spring Company shared, “The actor received an offer [to star in the drama ‘Bulk’] and is positively reviewing the offer.”

“Bulk” is a crime series in which a police officer, a fixer who is a part of the field’s mainstream, and a prosecutor team up to pursue dark forces against the backdrop of Gangnam at night. The drama is helmed by director Park Noo Ri of “Money,” and actors Jo Woo Jin and Ha Yun Kyung are in talks to star as a prosecutor and a veteran detective, respectively. ASTRO’s Cha Eun Woo was previously in talks to play the fixer, but it was revealed in March that he eventually turned down the offer.

“Bulk” is scheduled to kick off production by the end of this month and film for the next six months.

Ji Chang Wook will reportedly lead his fourth upcoming K-drama!

On November 14, media outlets reported that Ji Chang Wook will be leading another upcoming K-drama. Reports stated that Ji Chang Wook will be working with Ha Yoon Kyung and Jo Woo Jin for the new K-drama Bulk. 

Ji Chang Wook's agency Spring Company shared their side of the same day through the media outlet MK Sports. According to them, "Ji Chang Wook did receive the offer to lead Bulk. He is positively reviewing the new series."

Bulk will revolve around a police officer, a fixer, and a prosecutor who will team up to pursue the dark forces against the backdrop of Gangnam at night.

The upcoming K-drama will be directed by Park Noo Ri and it will be produced by Men's Pictures, the same producers of the movie Hunt. 

Ji Chang Wook received the offer to play the role of the fixer. Meanwhile, Jo Woo Jin will reportedly star as the prosecutor and Ha Yoon Kyung will play the role of the police officer. 

Bulk will begin its production starting at the end of this month. There is no confirmation yet on the release date of the upcoming K-drama. 

 

Aside from Bulk, it was recently reported that Ji Chang Wook will also lead the upcoming K-drama Sculpture City with EXO's Doh Kyung Soo. 

Ji Chang Wook will also greet viewers soon with the upcoming JTBC K-drama Welcome to Samdalri with Shin Hye Sun. The series will premiere next month. 

The actor is also expected to return to the historical genre with the 2024 K-drama Queen Woo with Jeon Jong Seo, Kim Mu Yeol, Jung Yoo Mi, Lee Soo Hyuk, and Park Ji Hwan.

“Gangnam B-Side” is a crime series in which an elite detective who has been demoted, a prosecutor, and a mysterious broker team up to pursue dark forces against the backdrop of Gangnam at night. Jo Woo Jin will be playing the elite detective Kang Dong Woo who becomes demoted overnight. Due to his personality of pushing for something he becomes fixated on, he falls deeply into an unexpected incident, raising anticipation for Jo Woo Jin’s acting transformation.

Ji Chang Wook will be taking on the role of the mysterious broker Yoon Gil Ho who has control over the Gangnam area. It was officially confirmed on February 29 that Ji Chang Wook, Ha Yoon Kyung, and Jo Woo Jin will be working together to lead the K-drama about the happenings in the Gangnam area at night. 

Gangnam B-Side will tell the story of a detective who returns to service after his daughter's friend becomes the woman who goes missing in the Gangnam area. The detective will team up with the prosecutor and a broker to take down a cartel in Gangnam.

The upcoming K-drama will be the collaboration work of director Park Noo Ri (Money) and writer Jo Won Gyu (Argon). 

According to reports, Gangnam B-Side will premiere in the second half of 2024. It will have a total of 8 episodes.

Gangnam B-Side is an upcoming South Korean crime-thriller series that will be released soon. Starring Ji Chang Wook in the lead role, popular singer BIBI also joins the cast list. Ahead of its premiere at the 29th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), new stills have been released showcasing the actors in intense scenes that create curiosity.

On September 4, 2024, the production team of Gangnam B-Side released stills of the show featuring Ji Chang Wook, BIBI and more. In the pictures, Ji Chang Wook can be seen with an indifferent expression, embodying a cold and ruthless character. Moreover, he also gets into an intense brawl with Jo Woo Jin, who plays the character of a detective trying to uncover the truth.

BIBI, the popular Korean singer, will also be appearing in the series as one of the major characters. In one of the images, she confronts Ji Chang Wook and the tension looms around them. Ha Yoon Kyung is also featured in one of the images where she is on the call with a terrified expression across her face.

 

The plot of the show follows a disgraced detective, who is drawn back into action when his daughter’s friend becomes the latest woman to disappear in Seoul’s trendy Gangnam district. As he investigates, he uncovers a web of vice, drugs, and corruption, exposing a dark secret that could bring down some of the city's most powerful elites.

Apart from Ji Chang Wook and BIBI, the cast of the show includes Jo Woo Jin, Ha Yoon Kyung, Jeong Jae Kwang, Eum Moon Suk, Oh Ye Ju, Seo Tae Woong, and more. Neon lights and heated pursuits in Gangnam B-Side

Introducing its key players with a sleek and stylish first teaser, Disney+’s upcoming crime drama Gangnam B-Side is ready to deliver a dose of adrenaline-pumped action. When a key linchpin goes missing, a prosecutor, a detective, and a mysterious broker all converge on her trail in hot pursuit.

Beyond the drudgery of ordinary lives and daily commutes in Gangnam lies a seedy underbelly unbeknownst to most. “Beneath the world we live in, is the realm they play in,” read the chyrons. Illuminated by neon lights and punctuated with a heart-pumping score, the city’s nightlife harbors illicit deals amidst the throngs that fill its clubs.

 

It’s no wonder, then, that an anxious Kim Hyung-seo a.k.a. BIBI (The Worst of Evil) pushes her way through a crowd to stumble out onto the streets. As the club ace Jae-hee, it seems she may have gotten herself entangled in something worse than she thought, forcing her to go on the run. “You’ve upended the dregs of Gangnam,” accuses someone in voiceover. “Everyone is searching for Jae-hee.”

For one, Jo Woo-jin (Narco-Saints) has her on his radar as the hot-headed elite detective Kang Dong-woo. Given that it takes a whole team to hold him back from a suspect that lit his fuse, it’s likely that Dong-woo won’t stop at anything until he’s caught the elusive Jae-hee.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Ha Yoon-kyung (The Frog) plays the austere prosecutor Min Seo-jin, who carries herself with a composed steadiness. Lacking any inside connections, Seo-jin must rely solely on her skills to rise in the prosecutor’s office. That means producing results, and apprehending Jae-hee is the perfect accolade.

In between both sides of the chase stands Ji Chang-wook (Queen Woo) as Yoon Gil-ho, a broker with an unknown motive. Rising actress Oh Ye Ju is confirmed to star in the upcoming Disney+ original K-drama Gangnam B-Side. 

On September 30, it was officially confirmed that actress Oh Ye Ju will be part of the cast of the upcoming action thriller K-drama, Gangnam B-Side. She will portray as main lead Jo Woo Jin's daughter in the series. 

This will be her first official K-drama project for 2024. She recently made a special cameo appearance in the tvN K-drama No Gain, No Love. 

Early this year, the actress made her debut on the big screen through the movie Troll Factory. She worked alongside Son Suk Ku, Kim Sung Cheol, Kim Dong Hwi, Hong Kyung, Lee Seon Hee, and Kim Hee Won.

The upcoming K-drama will be led by Jo Woo Jin, Ji Chang Wook, Ha Yoon Kyung, BIBI, Hyun Bong Sik, and Jeong Jae Kwang. 

Oh Ye Ju will portray the role of Kang Ye Seo. She will be the daughter of Jo Woo Jin's character Detective Kang Dong U in the play. As the detective's only child, her character will bring a personal and emotional touch to the story.

Director  Park Noo Ri (Money) and writer Jo Won Gyu (Argon) will work together for the upcoming series. Sanai Pictures, PlusM Entertainment, and Story Rooftop will produce the K-drama. 

Gangnam B-Side will premiere on November 6 and it will exclusively air on Disney+.

Disney+’s upcoming original series “Gangnam B-Side” has unveiled new character posters!

 

“Gangnam B-Side” is a crime drama about a detective, a prosecutor, and a mysterious broker, each following different leads to find Jae Hee, the missing ace of a club. Directed and written by Park Nu Ri, known for the film “Money,” the series stars Jo Woo Jin, Ji Chang Wook, Ha Yun Kyung, and BIBI.

 

In the group poster, Detective Kang Dong Woo (Jo Woo Jin) and prosecutor Min Seo Jin (Ha Yun Kyung) represent the city’s “day” side. As they dig into a mysterious case, they bring tension to the story. Kang Dong Woo, motivated by justice, and Min Seo Jin, seeking a promotion, offer realistic characters with different goals, drawing the audience deeper into the plot.

 

On the “night” side, the mysterious broker Yoon Gil Ho (Ji Chang Wook), with a scarred face and unreadable expression, and club ace Jae Hee (BIBI), who holds secrets at the story’s center, highlight the city’s darker elements, illuminated by neon signs. Their contrasting presence captures attention. The tagline, “The world they play in beneath the world we live in,” hints at the intense drama set to unfold beneath Gangnam’s familiar surface.

 

 

The individual posters further showcase each character’s charm, highlighting the distinct personalities of the four leads and building excitement. Jo Woo Jin, known for his strong presence, stars as Detective Kang Dong Woo, returning to solve a case and adding depth to his complex character.

 

 

Ji Chang Wook, with a commanding presence, plays Yoon Gil Ho, a Gangnam outlaw who puts himself under suspicion. He takes on a bold new style in this role, marking a dramatic transformation.

 

 

Ha Yun Kyung brings intensity to her role as prosecutor Min Seo Jin, who pursues the case for a shot at social advancement. She is expected to deliver a standout performance.

Jo Woo Jin has shared his thoughts on his upcoming drama “Gangnam B-Side”!

“Gangnam B-Side” is a crime drama about a detective, a prosecutor, and a mysterious broker, each following different leads to find Jae Hee, the missing ace of a club. Directed and written by Park Nu Ri, known for the film “Money,” the series stars Jo Woo Jin, Ji Chang Wook, Ha Yun Kyung, and BIBI.

Jo Woo Jin stars as Detective Kang Dong Woo, who returns to solve a series of missing persons cases in Gangnam after being demoted due to a past incident. He uses his keen intuition, relentless determination, and sharp judgment to uncover the truth behind the disappearances.

Jo Woo Jin describes Kang Dong Woo as a character who “acts on what he believes is just and right without hesitation.” As a principled detective, Kang Dong Woo dives into his cases and faces challenges head-on. However, he experiences a shocking turning point midway through the story, which leads to another transformation.

The released stills vividly capture Detective Kang Dong Woo in intense moments as he investigates the case. His serious expression while staring intently and his shocked look under red lighting suggest something troubling is happening. As he explores the hidden side of Gangnam, anticipation builds for Kang Dong Woo’s increasing efforts and his emotional journey.

 

Jo Woo Jin said, “As Kang Dong Woo digs into the truth of a case with multiple characters, I tried to show how he changes in a multi-dimensional way. I think that aspect will be interesting to explore.” He also mentioned, “When I found this project, the first thing that caught my interest was how I could make this character different from others I’ve played,” suggesting the creation of another memorable role.

 

 

He noted, “Many people judge a character based on their first impression, so I wanted Kang Dong Woo’s steadfastness to show in his appearance. That’s why I started gaining weight right away.” He committed to the role, increasing his weight by as much as 18 kilograms (approximately 40 pounds) to enhance his visual impact.
