Park Bo Young and Choi Woo Shik may star in a new drama together!

On November 17, STARNEWS reported that Park Bo Young has been cast in the upcoming drama “Romantic Movie” (literal title).

In response to the report, Park Bo Young’s agency BH Entertainment shared, “Park Bo Young has received an offer for the new drama ‘Romantic Movie’ and is positively reviewing it.”

Back in October, STARNEWS also reported Choi Woo Shik was in talks to take on the male lead role. However, Choi Woo Shik’s agency has yet to comment on the report.

“Romantic Movie” delves into the lives of young individuals who are used to always pretending to be fine in the face of hardships. Now, they aspire to experience love and fulfill their dreams, yet find themselves drained and exhausted from the relentless hardships they endure. Despite its initial impression of having a somber undertone, the drama is a comical romance written by Lee Na Eun, the scriptwriter of “Our Beloved Summer.”

Park Bo Young is reportedly considering the role of Kim Moo Bi (also characterized as “Movie” in Korean), who starts as an assistant director and eventually becomes a film director. Following in the footsteps of her father, who worked as a film staff member but harbored dreams of becoming a director, Kim Moo Bi silently hones her skills in the film industry.

Park Bo-young and Choi Woo-shik may star in a new romantic comedy-drama titled Romantic Movie.

On Friday, a Korean entertainment portal reported that Park Bo-young has secured a role in the forthcoming drama titled Romantic Movie. In light of this announcement, Park Bo-young's agency stated, "Park Bo-young has received an offer for the new drama ‘Romantic Movie’ and is positively reviewing it."

In a previous report from October, Choi Woo-shik was in discussions for the male lead role. Nevertheless, Choi Woo-shik's agency has not yet provided any comments on the matter.

Romantic Movie explores the lives of young individuals accustomed to constantly feigning strength in the midst of challenges. As they yearn for love and the realisation of their dreams, they grapple with the weariness and exhaustion stemming from unrelenting hardships. Contrary to its initially perceived sombre tone, the drama unfolds as a comedic romance, crafted by Lee Na-eun, the talented scriptwriter behind Our Beloved Summer.

As per reports, Park Bo-young is contemplating the role of Kim Moo-bi, also referred to as "Movie" in Korean, an assistant director who goes on to become a film director. In the tradition of her father, who served as a film staff member and harboured aspirations of becoming a director, Kim Moo-bi quietly refines her talents within the film industry.

Reportedly, Choi Woo-shik has received an offer for the male lead role of Go Gyeom in the upcoming drama. Go Gyeom is depicted as a former extra-turned-film critic who aspires to watch every movie in the world. The paths of Go Gyeom and Kim Moo-bi cross on a film set, setting the stage for an intertwined destiny as they embark on a fateful love story.

Choi Woo-shik and Park Bo-young film a Melo Movie

by solstices

jQV2bv_2f.png

Production has begun for the upcoming Netflix original Melo Movie, featuring a healing romance set in the titular melo genre. Centered around the youthful dreams of individuals in the creative industry, the drama will portray their journey towards mending the wounds of the past and painting a brighter future.

Choi Woo-shik (A Killer Paradox) stars as the supporting actor-turned-film critic Go Gyeom, who eats, sleeps, and breathes film. If Gyeom had forty-eight hours in a day, he’d spend every last second watching movies. Given his proclivity for cinema, it’s practically a stroke of fate that brings him and a peculiarly-named individual together on a film project.

That person is Kim Mu-bi, or Kim “Movie,” played by Park Bo-young (Daily Dose of Sunshine). Having followed in her father’s footsteps out of curiosity towards her namesake, Mu-bi has since risen through the ranks and become a film director. As someone who prefers to stay out of the spotlight, Mu-bi’s career has been characterized by unassuming competence — that is, until Gyeom joins the picture.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, we have Lee Jun-young (May I Help You) as the idealistic dreamer Hong Shi-joon. Harboring a lifelong dream of becoming an acclaimed composer, Shi-joon believes he possesses the talents of a natural-born genius. However, reality tells a different tale, given he’s still a no-name songwriter. Still, his sunny optimism and quirky personality keep him upbeat and unfazed.

Rounding out our creative quartet, Jeon So-ni (Our Blooming Youth) plays the successful scenario writer Sohn Joo-ah. She may have grown up treading a smooth path and wanting for nothing, but she’s about to throw a spanner into the works — she’s the ex-girlfriend of both Gyeom and Shi-joon. Uh-oh, this is going to get thorny. Still, there’s Kim Jae-wook (Death’s Game) in the cast list, which means I can’t contain my excitement and expectations from soaring sky-high.

Directed by Oh Chung-hwan (Castaway Diva) with scripts written by Lee Na-eun (Our Beloved Summer), Melo Movie has yet to set a release date.
