Moon Sang-min ruins Jeon Jong-seo’s Wedding Impossible

by lovepark

A batch of teasers and stills have dropped for tvN’s Wedding Impossible starring Jeon Jong-seo (Bargain) and Moon Sang-min (Duty After School). Based off a web novel, the upcoming rom-com is about a no-name actor who gets hired to be a fake bride, but complications arise when her future brother-in-law objects to the union.

The first teaser focuses on younger brother Lee Ji-han (Moon Sang-min), and he questions who the woman next to his brother is. When he hears that the two are getting married, he responds, “With whose permission?” The teaser calls him even worse than “mother-in-law world” and our protagonist sits in front of his conspiracy board dressed up like a spy. His mission? To stop this marriage.

Mashing the individual character teasers into one, we also get a glimpse at the antagonistic relationship between our two leads. The teaser opens to bride-to-be Na Ah-jung (Jeon Jong-seo) wearing a wedding gown and accepting the deal to become her friend’s bride. As soon as she agrees, Ji-han eavesdrops on her conversation and gathers intel on his enemy. Standing on opposing sides, the two leads gear up for their battle — she wields a bat, and he puts on boxing gloves. Will this marriage proceed, or will he succeed in stopping it?

While Ji-han might be a bit of an oddball in the teasers, the recent stills show him being a relatively average office worker. Despite being the youngest grandchild of a chaebol family, he hides his background and works diligently. However, Ji-han does have one ambition, and that’s making his older brother Lee Do-han, played by Kim Do-wan (Doona), the company’s successor. Unfortunately, his plans are ruined when Do-han announces his nuptials, so Ji-han’s new goal is to stop Ah-jung from marrying his brother.

tvN also released a first look at Bae Yoon-kyung (Crash Course in Romance) who plays CEO Yoon Chae-won. Capable and beautiful, everything Chae-won touches turns into a hit, which makes her everyone’s ideal “bride.” Ji-han concurs with this sentiment, and so, he approaches Chae-won to consider marrying his brother.

This wouldn’t be a drama, though, if things went so smoothly, and relationships get tangled as lines are blurred. Even sworn enemies start to warm up to each other as seen in the stills, and I bet there’s a third option where both our leads complete their missions.

Directed by PD Kwon Young-il (Doom at Your Service, My Unfamiliar Family) and written by Park Seul-gi (Poong the Joseon Psychiatrist) and Oh Hye-won, tvN’s Wedding Impossible premieres on February 26 in the Monday-Tuesday slot.

Hong In, cast in ‘Wedding Impossible’...as Choi Min-woong, Moon Sang-min’s half-brother

546444_553644_1059.jpg

'Wedding Impossible' depicts the daunting mission of unknown actress Na-jeong (played by Jeon Jong-seo), who decides to fake marry her boyfriend in order to become the first main character in her life, and Lee Ji-han (played by Moon Sang-min), her prospective brother-in-law who desperately opposes the marriage. In this romantic comedy drama, Hong In takes on the role of Choi Min-woong, the half-brother of Lee Ji-han (played by Moon Sang-min) and the executive director of LJ Hotel.

Choi Min-woong, played by Hong-in, is a character who is greedy and does all kinds of bad things to avoid losing his position as LJ's successor, but has the last-worst ability.

Hong In captured attention by appearing as Kwon Kyung-jun, a 'villain' who pressures Kwon Kyung-min (played by Oh Jeong-se) in the drama 'Stove League', and perfectly expressed his own character in the Netflix drama 'House of Paper: Joint Economic Zone'. It has shown a strong presence to the public.

As audiences ponder why this seemingly flawless chaebol heir is so dedicated to everything he does, Moon Sang Min has offered insights into the scene’s behind-the-scenes dynamics. Reflecting on the experience, Moon Sang Min shared, “While rehearsing, I thought I did okay, but when it came to filming, I found it very challenging to juggle dancing, singing, and maintaining facial expressions at the same time. It made me realize that singers are really amazing.”

He added, “There were other actors who stood on stage with me, and they danced so well. Watching them made me more ambitious, so I worked even harder. It was an enjoyable experience different from [traditional] acting.”

‘Rising Star’ Moon Sang-min feels the weight of the lead role… “I want to be recognized” [Interview ③]

2024020821484794428_1.jpg

The longer I spend in front of the camera, the more I wonder whether I lean more toward familiarity or difficulty. The difficulty is still greater than the familiarity. I have a hard time adjusting to appearing in one project for a long time. In 'Shuroop', there were many characters, so I had to rely on them all, but in 'Wedding Impossible', I had a lot of screen time and I had to work with them for a long time, so it was difficult.

What type of actor approaches a character?

After reading the scenario, I try not to define the characters as much as possible. It was helpful not to give an answer. I felt like if I gave an answer and tried to match it, I wouldn't be able to show my unique charm. For example, as Lee Ji-han in 'Wedding Impossible', he goes back and forth between a chaebol and a new employee, but in fact, I thought he was a bit of a 'dangly' chaebol rather than a chic and stiff one. He is a character with nothing to regret, but with one goal in mind, he becomes desperate, sorrowful, charming, and uses all kinds of means. I tried to show various charms through those appearances.

-What are the things that give actor Moon Sang-min new stimulation or sensations?

I am the type of person who needs to meet people. Every person has good points, and when I see those good points, I want to emulate them. While watching senior (Kim) Hye-soo's acting, hand gestures, and facial expressions in 'Shurup', I started imitating them without realizing it. Because it's good, 'Should I try this too?' I follow along and at some point go through the process of making it my own. In ‘After School War Activities’, I saw what Hong Sa-bin was doing during rehearsal and imitated him. I think meeting people is important because there is something to learn from everyone.

-Is there anything that gave Moon Sang-min the most strength during his career as an actor?

There are many words or situations that gave me strength. Coaches and seniors say good things. But the best thing is when I act and feel like, ‘This was so good.’ It's not a lot, but there have been a few times when my acting was really good. I feel excited, and I think I did a good job as an actor.

2024020821484794428_2.jpg

-What is the charm of an actor?

Personally, I enjoy being able to meet many people. I don't have that many friends. I think I still need to meet more people, but it's nice to be able to meet more actors. Isn’t it possible to live as many people again? I want to try acting in professions I'm curious about, and I've especially become very interested in medicine these days. I am greedy for genre and medical dramas.

-What concerns or thoughts dominate Moon Sang-min the most right now?

When I act, I just enjoy it because I'm doing what I want to do. However, as someone who is not an actor, I wonder what to do when I take a break and what makes me fun other than acting, but it is difficult to find. I asked a lot of seniors, but they all said it was difficult to find it. -Isn’t there badminton? It's exhausting. (Laughs) I have to find one thing that is fun and not tiring.

-When you have concerns, do you feel comfortable swallowing them alone, or is there someone you can share your concerns with?

I don't confide in anyone. When I talk about my worries, they keep coming back to me, and it's hard because I think about them. Also, I'm scared that if I share my difficulties or concerns, that energy will be transferred to the other person. I intentionally talk about other things and don't talk about work with people I meet. However, I tend to confide in people at work who know my situation well and sympathize with me.

-'Cinderella at Two in the Morning', which is currently being filmed, is also a romantic comedy. Can we expect new charms?

You might think the setting itself is similar to 'Wedding Impossible', but it's different. Wouldn't 'Cinderella at 2 AM' see a slightly more organized Moon Sang-min? I will try to show a well-organized appearance not only visually but also acting-wise. It's been a year since filming 'Wedding Impossible' was completed, and when I saw her back then, I noticed she had breast fat. But now I think I have a bit of a jawline and I feel more manly. And here, it is a more proper conglomerate than ‘Wedding Impossible’.

-What efforts are you making to become a good actor?

I also read books about acting and actors, but the best thing is experiencing it while on set with people. The work cannot continue to exist. Because I'm not always at the filming site, I think a lot about the filming site and run simulations. The atmosphere and the director’s style are different at each site. My task is to recognize that quickly. As I read the director's intention and started reading the script, I started to get a feel for it little by little. In the meantime, I learn a lot, and I ask the director a lot about that. There are many times when the direction is not what I expected, but since it is deleted from view, I think I can quickly adapt.

-What kind of actor do you want to become in the future?

What modifier do you want to get? In the short term, I want to be recognized as an actor who can lead for a long time. The work will be released soon, and my goal is to get a response from many people after the work is released. I hope to be loved in many ways.
