Bae Doona may star in a new drama!

On October 5, STARNEWS reported that Bae Doona will star in the new drama “Family Plan” (literal title).

In response to the report, Bae Doona’s agency Goodman Story shared, “[‘Family Plan’] is one of the projects she received an offer [to star in] and is currently reviewing the offer for. Nothing has been confirmed yet.”

Bae Doo Na is in discussion to join the upcoming Coupang Play original K-drama Family Plan (working title).

On October 5, various media outlets shared that Bae Doo Na will be joining actors Ryu Seung Beom and Baek Yoon Shik in leading the upcoming thriller K-drama. 

Bae Doo Na's agency Goodman Story responded to the reports. According to their representative, "It is one of the works offered to Bae Doo Na. Nothing is confirmed yet." 

The Family Plan will revolve around brain hacking that can change the world in another person's mind. It is used to punish villains and make them experience more pain than what their victims have suffered from them. 

Bae Doo Na got the offer to play the role of Han Young Soo. She is a psychopath trained as part of the family planning team since she was young. She has natural brain-hacking skills. 

Many are already anticipating the upcoming K-drama with the possible combination of brilliant actors such as Bae Doo Na, Ryu Seung Beom, and Baek Yoon Shik. 

There is no official information yet on the release date of the Family Plan. The upcoming K-drama will exclusively premiere on the OTT platform, Coupang Play. 

 

 

If Bae Doo Na officially joins Family Plan, this will be her second upcoming K-drama. The actress will also lead the new series The Killer Miss Lee. 

Bae Doo Na is also leading the upcoming movie Virus with Kim Yoon Seok, Moon Sun Yong, Son Suk Ku, Kwak Jin, and Kim Kyung Il.

Get ready for a new thriller drama!

On January 8, upcoming Coupang Play drama “Family Plan” (literal title) shared its cast lineup consisting of Bae Doona, Ryu Seung Bum, Baek Yoon Shik, Lomon, and Lee Su Hyun.

“Family Plan” is a drama about people with special abilities who are disguised as a family in order to survive as they face off against the evil criminals threatening them in extraordinary ways. The drama will be a collaboration between scriptwriter Kim Jung Min of “Hush” and “Suits” as well as twin directors Kim Gok and Kim Sun of the film “On the Line.”

Bae Doona will play Han Young Soo, a person with a special ability who is affectionate toward her children, while Ryu Seung Bum will play Baek Chul Hee, who appears somewhat timid by having to hide his abilities but is a loving husband to his wife.

Veteran actor Baek Yoon Shik will play the role of grandfather Baek Kang Sung who is prickly on the outside but cherishes his famly on the inside. Lomon will transform into son Baek Ji Hoon who has a warm and gentle personality, while Lee Su Hyun will play Baek Ji Woo, the prickly and sensitive daughter of the family.

Baek Cheol Hee, a timid father who hides his abilities but loves his wife dearly, will be played by Ryu Seung Beom (Moving). The actor said, "I am determined to do my best to make this work successful." 

Baek Yoon Shik (Noryang: Deadly Sea, Vagabond) plays the role of Baek Kang Seong, a grumpy grandfather who cares deeply for his family. The veteran actor said, "I felt a lot through the [script] reading. I ask for your interest." 

Lomon (Revenge of Others, All of Us Are Dead) plays the role of a warm and gentle son, Baek Ji Hoon. He said, "It was an honor just to be in the same room with such talented seniors." 

Rookie actress Lee Soo Hyun plays the prickly and sensitive daughter, Baek Ji Woo. She said, "I was half excited and half worried. It was an honor to be able to read with such talented seniors."

“Family Plan” is a drama about people with special abilities who disguise themselves as a family in order to survive as they face off against the evil criminals threatening them in extraordinary ways.

Twin directors Kim Gok and Kim Sun, as well as scriptwriter Kim Jung Min, were present at the reading along with actors Bae Doona, Ryu Seung Bum, Baek Yoon Shik, Lomon, and Lee Su Hyun. As soon as the script reading began, the actors quickly immersed themselves in their respective characters and showcased brilliant chemistry right from their first meeting.

Bae Doona will star in the drama as Han Young Soo, a mother with a special ability who is affectionate toward her children. First look at Coupang Play’s superpowered Family Planning

Coupang Play has released a sneak peek of the first script reading for the thriller Family Planning. The upcoming drama revolves around a family with superpowers and stars Bae Doona (The Silent Sea) as the mom, Ryu Seung-beom (Moving) as the dad, Baek Yoon-shik (Vagabong) as the grandpa, Lomon (Revenge of Others) as the son, and Lee Soo-hyun as the daughter.

Bae Doona’s character Han Young-soo is described as an affectionate mom, and from the brief glimpse shown, she seems to prefer solving matters herself, advising her kids to bring “them” home so she can take of it rather than make a scene. As for dad Baek Cheol-hee played by Ryu Seung-beom, he’s a timid man who hides his powers and, above all else, loves his wife. It appears that his approach to parenting leans more towards avoiding conflict as he tells his kids to not stand out in school and try to understand their peers.

 

 

Playing grandpa Baek Kang-sung is Baek Yoon-shik — a prickly old man who acts gruff but actually cares for his family deep down. Even his lines from the script reading highlight his blunt personality as Grandpa Baek asks how someone in their right mind would pick a fight after seeing “their” ghost-like eyes.

Lastly, siblings Baek Ji-hoon (Lomon) and Baek Ji-woo (Lee Soo-hyun) are the seventeen-year-old children of the family, but the only thing they have in common seems to be their age. While Ji-hoon is warm and gentle, Ji-woo is prickly and sensitive. However, from the script reading, it seems that both kids care about others with Ji-hoon saying that they should solve their family’s problem first and Ji-woo telling someone to not give up after a few failures.

Directed by the filmmakers of On the Line Kim Gok and Kim Sun with scripts by Kim Jung-min (Hush, Suits), Coupang Play’s Family Planning began filming in December 2023 and will release later this year.

Superpowered Bae Doo-na introduces her Family Planning

The first teaser has stealthily swooped in for Coupang Play’s upcoming Family Planning, introducing the story’s secretive family in the fantasy-black comedy led by Bae Doona (The Silent Sea) and Ryu Seung-beom (Moving).

Opening the teaser with our heroine Han Young-soo (Bae Doona) arriving at a dubious hotel, we’re soon treated to her badass entrance before cutting to her snarky daughter Lee Soo-hyun feeling skeptical about their family.

 

In the sequence, we’re then awkwardly greeted by each of the members of this family in question as Baek Ji-woo (Lee Soo-hyun) continues to voice her tirade: “What are we? What kind of household doesn’t even have one graduation photo, let alone any photos taken together as a family? What is our identity, exactly?!”

Mom Young-soo exchanges glances with Dad Baek Chul-hee (Ryu Seung-beom), who then turns to look at Grandpa Baek Yoon-shik (Vagabond). Baek Kang-sung (Baek Yoon-shik) gives them all a knowing nod and we’re next transported to an animal hospital where the whole family – including Lomon (Branding in Seongsu) – are suspiciously gathered around a man tied-up.

Based on the teaser, it appears like this animal hospital acts as the front for their family’s true operations as superpowers fighting against baddies in their town. With all their shiny weapons out in the video’s final action sequence, we then come to a close on Grandpa Kang-sung’s proposed plan: “With this opportunity, why don’t we just come clean about what kind of family our family really is and solve this situation together?”

Coupang Play’s upcoming drama “Family Matters” has released new character posters!

“Family Matters” tells the story of a mother with the special ability to freely edit people’s memories, who teams up with her family to wreak havoc on bad guys. The cast includes Bae Doona, Ryu Seung Bum, Baek Yoon Shik, Lomon, and Lee Su Hyun.

The newly released posters showcase the strong presence of the five family members. The mother, Young Soo (Bae Doona), with a blank facial expression and the tagline that reads, “Bring them home, and I’ll take care of it,” piques curiosity about her unique ability—brain hacking.

Coupang Play's upcoming series Family Matters unveiled its poster and main trailer.

Family Matters tells the story of a group of people with special abilities who disguise themselves as family members in order to survive and use unique methods to defeat the vicious criminals who threaten them.

The poster shows the expressionless faces of Han Young Soo (Bae Doo Na) and Baek Cheol Hui (Ryu Seung Beom) wearing bloodstained white coats.  

Standing in a worn-out house, Young Soo holds a knife with blood on it and a bag, while Cheol Hui holds a dog in his arms, staring with a blank expression on their faces. The text on the poster, "Bring them home; Mom will take care of them," sparks curiosity about this peculiar family's strange business.

The trailer begins with a chilling warning from mom Han Young Soo, "Whatever you imagined, it’' going to be far worse. So, watch carefully." This line unveils the truth behind brain hacking. 

The phrase "Bad deeds come with bad consequences" and the Roman numeral "X" engraved on Han Young Soo, along with the family moving in unison, heighten curiosity about the events that shaped their lives. Han Young Soo says, "No matter how many people die, nothing is more important than our Ji Hoon and Ji Woo."

Grandfather Baek Gang Seong (Baek Yoon Shik) adds, "Haven’t we become just a little more like a real family than yesterday?" 

This suggests a unique family dynamic, teasing how these five unrelated individuals might come together to form a genuine bond.

 

 

Family Matters will premiere on November 29.
