Her character is expected to have intricate layers that will add depth to the narrative. Anticipation runs high to witness their mother-son energy in Family by Choice.

On September 5, Kim Hye Eun’s agency Blitzway Studios confirmed that the actress is all set for her role in the upcoming drama Family by Choice. According to Korean media outlets, she will play the role of Kim San Ha’s (played by Hwang In Yeop) mother, Kwon Jung Hee.

Her maternal love is a little different from others. Meanwhile, she is also someone who can’t stay away from her son for a long time because she has an ill-fated relationship with him. Due to an unexpected misfortune, she grew to hate Kim San Ha. It foreshadows their different mother-son relationship after they reunite years later.

Two dads and three siblings in Family By Choice

Bringing with it the warmth of a home-cooked meal, JTBC’s upcoming drama Family By Choice has released its second teaser. An adaptation of the Chinese drama Go Ahead, the tale promises a heartwarming journey of youth, healing, and growing up.

A voiceover narration introduces us to our unconventional family unit. The doting dad Yoon Jung-jae — played by Choi Won-young (Hierarchy) — cooks for his beloved children, all of whom have different surnames. Bae Hyun-sung (Miraculous Brothers) plays the energetic Kang Hae-joon, who cheerfully bangs a stick (labelled “Come down,” ha) on the ceiling to call his siblings to the dining table.

 

With just five minutes left before they need to leave for school, Jung-jae affectionately feeds his children. Next to Hae-joon is the stoic Kim San-ha, played by Hwang In-yub (Why Her). Both boys are the same age at 19, but Hae-joon’s antics means he winds up getting his ear pulled by “eldest son” San-ha, LOL.

Rounding out our sibling trio is Jung Chae-yeon (The Golden Spoon) as the maknae Yoon Joo-won, who’s two years younger than the boys. With her bright smile and effervescent personality, she basks in the affection and protection of her brothers, despite their different surnames earning them questioning gazes.

While the kids are at school, the noodle restaurant owner Jung-jae sits down for a simple dinner with their other parent — Choi Moo-sung (Your Honor) as the police officer Kim Dae-wook. Turns out Jung-jae is Dad #2, while Dae-wook is Dad #1 presumably because he’s a year older. Though he still ends up on the receiving end of Jung-jae’s nagging, hee.

Our family quintet may not share the same blood, but a deep and sincere love forges their bond. Whether it’s placing food in their sibling’s bowl, or running through the rain together, they’re there for each other through thick and thin. And when San-ha locks himself in his room to sulk, Hae-joon and Joo-won are waiting on the other side, coaxing him out with reassuring smiles. No matter what others say, they’re a family all the same — they’re just special in their own way.

Kang Hae Jun has deep affection for Yoon Jeong Jae and Yoon Ju Won (Jung Chaeyeon), who took him in as family despite having no blood relation. JTBC released the third teaser and new stills for Family by Choice 

Family by Choice is a story of three people who, despite being unrelated by blood, consider each other family and spend their teenage years together. They reunite after 10 years. The K-drama is a remake of the C-drama Go Ahead. 

The production team released a third teaser giving a glimpse into the subtle changes in the lives of Kim San Ha (Hwang In Youp), Yun Ju Won (Jung Chae Yeon), and Kang Hae Jun (Bae Hyeon Seong), portraying their special relationships from childhood to high school, where moments spent growing up together — playing pranks and sharing snacks — reveal a deep, sibling-like bond among the trio. Given how they always stuck by each other's side, people often say, "You three kind of look similar." Kang Hae Jun can't help but wonder, "How can we look alike even though we aren't related by blood?" 

 

 

However, their dynamics shift when they enter their later teenage years.  

Kang Hae Jun's remark to Yun Ju Won, "You're clueless too. We're not family," hints at a dramatic turnaround.

Hwang In-yub wants to be more than a Family by Choice

The latest teaser for JTBC’s upcoming drama Family by Choice — a remake of the Chinese show Go Ahead — focuses on the three children and their unconventional bond. Though someone comments on their likeness, none of them are related to each other by blood, and the adorable youngsters grow up to become Bae Hyun-sung (Miraculous Brothers), Hwang In-yub (Why Her), and Jung Chae-yeon (The Golden Spoon).

Raised like brothers and sister, the three of them did everything together from the good to the bad, but as they got older, something changed in their relationship. In a serious tone, Kim San-ha (Hwang In-yub) asks to see his brother after he is done, and Kang Hae-joon (Bae Hyun-sung) looks up in surprise when their sister’s name is mentioned.

Yoon Joo-won (Jung Chae-yeon) says with a bright smile that she wants to start dating now, and on the bus, she describes the weather as perfect for falling in love. Her declaration, though, seems to raise concerns from the others, particularly San-ha who claims to be simply worried about her. He says that she needs to be all right first and foremost in order for him and Hae-joon to be okay, too.

However, the way San-ha stares at Joo-won seems to hint at a growing affection beyond brotherly love, and I’m not the only one picking up on these cues since another classmate asks Joo-won if something is going on between her and her supposed brother. As the teaser continues, the text reads, “While growing up together, my heart grew, too.” San-ha calls Joo-won clueless, and looking into her eyes, he reminds her that they aren’t really family.

JTBC’s highly anticipated drama “Family by Choice” has unveiled adorable new stills featuring its three main leads!

“Family by Choice” is a romance story that unfolds as three people who, after spending 10 years living together as a family and another 10 years apart as strangers, reunite and reconnect.

Hwang In Youp plays the handsome Kim San Ha who doesn’t appear to be lacking in anything. After growing up with Yoon Ju Won (Jung Chaeyeon) and Kang Hae Jun (Bae Hyeon Seong) like siblings, Kim San Ha leaves them only to return to them after 10 years.

The newly released photos highlight the enduring friendship among the trio. From their adorable childhood moments to their transformation into high school students in uniforms, the bond between Kim San Ha, Yoon Ju Won, and Kang Hae Jun shines through.

 

 

The first two photos depict them gathering on the same staircase from their childhood, while other photos capture them joyfully forming V-signs against the backdrop of the sparkling blue sea and playfully teasing one another.
