On March 3rd, Park Ji Hoon was reportedly offered a role in the historical drama “Love Song For Illusion.” The actor is coordinating his schedule with the production team.

 

 

“Love Song For Illusion” is a fantasy historical romance drama about a man with two opposite personalities and a woman who loves him. The story centers around fresh love and a fierce obsession. The drama is based on a webtoon of the same name by Ban Ji Woon and is expected to be the second “Love in the Moonlight.” 

Director Lee Jung Seop (“Bread, Love and Dreams,” “Healer,” “Queen for Seven Days”) will direct the drama series and Yoon Kyung Ah (“Brain,” “At Eighteen”) will be the screenwriter for the drama. 

 

Park Ji Hoon is offered the role of the man with two opposite personalities called Sajo Hyun and Ak Hee. The man holds contradictory notions of love, one based on loving a partner and one based on obsession and jealousy. 

Park Ji Hoon started out as a child actor. He later became a singer and member of the boy group Wanna One. Ji Hoon resumed his acting activities with the JTBC drama “Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency” (2019) and Kakao TV series “Love Revolution” (2020). In particular, the original Wavve series “Weak Hero Class 1” drew favorable reviews as “Park Ji Hoon’s Rediscovery.”

KBS2 has shared photos from the first script reading of its upcoming drama “Love Song for Illusion”!

Based on the popular webtoon of the same name, “Love Song for Illusion” is a historical fantasy romance drama that tells both the heart-fluttering love story and fierce obsession between a man with two conflicting personalities and a woman who loves him.

Present at the reading were director Lee Jung Seob, writer Yoon Kyung Ah, and actors Park Ji Hoon, Hong Ye Ji, Hwang Hee, Ji Woo, Kim Dong Won, Kim Tae Woo, Woo Hyun, Kang Shin Il, Hwang Seok Jeong, Woo Hee Jin, and more.

As the script reading began, the actors seamlessly delved into their roles, creating remarkable chemistry. Park Ji Hoon plays the dual roles of Crown Prince Sajo Hyun and his alter ego Ak Hee. Sajo Hyun is an intellectual character who uses his innate artistic sense to work as a fashion designer at a downtown boutique while hiding his identity as crown prince. He has a wound deep down in his heart from his childhood due to his oppressive father Sajo Seung. Sajo Hyun’s other persona Ak Hee is a charming character who can easily seduce others, but he is cursed to feel extreme pain when he makes physical touch with others. During the script reading, Park Ji Hoon showcased his versatility, flawlessly embodying both characters through nuanced variations in voice, gaze, gestures, and expressions.

Hong Ye Ji portrays Yeon Wol who lives a life full of twists and turns, going from an assassin to a concubine. Yeon Wol is the royal descendant of the fallen Yeon Dynasty and the only daughter of Yeon Poong Hak. Yeon Wol hides her identity and becomes assassin Gye Ra to avenge her family. Hong Ye Ji boasts an exceptional level of synchronization to her character, heightening anticipation for the intricacies of her and Park Ji Hoon’s character dynamic, particularly within the fateful love triangle and their captivatingly chaotic chemistry marked by their characters’ frequent bicker.

Hwang Hee embodies the character of Prince Sajo Yoong, the elder stepbrother of Crown Prince Sajo Hyun. Prince Sajo Yoong is celebrated as the palace’s sweet guy who effortlessly draws others in with his warmth. Ji Woo portrays Geum Hwa, the Crown Prince’s wife who does not hesitate to do anything to fulfill her desires. The first stills of Park Ji Hoon from the upcoming KBS 2TV's historical drama Fantasy Sonata have been unveiled. 

Fantasy Sonata is based on a popular webtoon of the same name. It tells the story of a man with two contrasting personalities and a woman who plans to assassinate him.

Park Ji Hoon, who rose to fame with Weak Hero Class 1, takes on the role of Prince Sajo Hyun, who has two identities, Sajo Hyun and Ak Hee. This is the first time the actor will be seen in dual roles since his debut in the industry. 

In the released stills, Park Ji Hoon is shown wearing a hanbok. Particularly notable are the contrasting vibes of brightness and darkness that he exudes. He also effortlessly depicts a prince's elegance and allure.

Sajo Hyun, blessed with striking looks and a sharp intellect, conceals his true identity and works as a fashion designer in a low-street clothing store. On the other hand, Ak hee, his alter ego, has the talent to charm people but suffers a curse that gives him excruciating pain, like he is being torn when touched.

 

 

The story sparks curiosity about how a man with two completely opposite personalities will navigate his struggles as he becomes entangled with the people around him.

Additionally, anticipation builds for the unique tale between him and Yeon Wol (Hong Ye Ji), who unknowingly becomes the prince's concubine while living as a fallen descendant of a fallen dynasty.

Fantasy Sonata is a collaboration between Moment at Eighteen screenwriter Yoon Kyung Ah and Angel's Last Mission: Love and Healer director Lee Jung Sub.

Fantasy Sonata is scheduled to air in January 2024. The K-drama will take over the time slot of The Matchmakers.
