Deng Wei:   How A "Star" Was Born   

 

Before the broadcast of "Lost You Forever" on July 24, 2023, Deng Wei  was almost unknown in the entertainment industry.

 

He was even called "the most handsome fool in Hengdian" by Hengdian's agents.  

 

After the broadcast of "Lost You Forever", Deng Wei gained more than 4 million followers in a short period of time.  Due to the blessing of the characters in the play and his excellent delivery.

 

It is understood that many fans had never chase stars before. But they were attracted by Deng Wei's charm.

 

 

 

After filming "Lost You Forever" in September 2022, Deng Wei had no filming job for more than eight months.  Reason: Due to being misunderstood and hacked. And of course the "poisonous words" from Aunty Yu Zheng. So you can see how "dangerous" Prejudice, Jumping into conclusions, and Spreading False Black News about others indiscriminately can be.  (Would you like that to happen to yourself?  Think about it)

 

It was end of May 2023, when he finally was cast in a supporting role of  "The Legend Of Rosy Clouds".

 

That was a very difficult time.  Especially for Deng Wei, who has just entered the entertainment industry and is ready to act well and build a career.

 

As you all know, Deng Wei used to be a dancer and was admitted to the "Chinese Opera and Dance Class" - which is known as the "Qing Bei" - 清北 （the Double Top/Ultimate University throughout China) in the drama world.

 

 

 

At that time, 673 people applied for this major. The teachers had extremely strict requirements on "image", body shape and basic skills. In the end, only 22 outstanding dancers were selected.  Deng Wei came in "Third". Eventually only 20 candidates were retained.

 

If it had not been for that accident, Deng Wei would have been swimming in the ocean of dance dramas, being a free fish.  Without being "humiliated" and "torn apart" by the excessive gossips.

 

However, leg  and waist injuries followed one after another. And the cool, handsome and rheumatic boy was forced to leave his beloved stage and go abroad to recuperate.

 

 

 

During the days of healing, he began to think about his future. Due to his outstanding appearance, many people around him advised him to enter the entertainment industry. But he could not make up his mind and started modelling and live broadcasting on the Internet.

 

In 2020, at the age of 25, he took on his first drama "Miss The Dragon" and entered the entertainment industry as the second male lead.

 

Being a fledgling actor with budding acting skills is almost a purgatory for every newcomer in the entertainment industry. Deng Wei is no exception.

 

In more than two years since his debut, he has filmed 5 movies, either as the second or third actor.

 

Without exception, his scenes were either not aired or received a mediocre response. He is still a little transparent in the entertainment industry.  And was called "the most handsome fool in Hengdian" by the filming agents.  

 

Fortunately, he is determined.  In his heart, he knows what he wants.

 

By end of March 2022, when "Lost You Forever" starts filming, he joined the drama as the second male lead.

 

This time was different from the past. On the set, he met many powerful players, entered the circle of top students, and successfully improved his acting skills by several levels.

 

The six-month filming cycle allowed Deng Wei to enjoy the process, absorb the nutrients of performance, and improve his acting skills.

 

"Lost You Forever" wrapped up filmings end of September 2022. Because he loved this character so much, Deng Wei, who was so deeply involved in the roles of Ye Shi Qi and Tu Shan Jing, could not leave his characters behind immediately.

 

At the same time, Deng Wei was accused of being "A Small Name Playing A Big Card" in the Airport Incident. Thus causing him to be Unemployed for 8 long months.

 

Despite this, there are still keen-eyed fans who have discovered Weizi's super good looks and unique charm and started to follow him.

 

By end  May 2023, after more than eight months of no drama to film, he finally received the seventh drama in his life, "The Legend Of Rosy Clouds".

 

He is still the second male lead, but still very challenging for him to play multiple roles.

On July 24, 2023, "Lost You Forever" was launched. Because of his excellent performance, refined appearance and congenial character setting, Deng Wei received unprecedented attention.

 

He gained millions of fans almost overnight.  Rising from a transparent actor in the entertainment industry to one of the hottest and most watched stars.

 

Many people fell in love with Ye Shiqi's appearance and became his fans.

 

Regarding his appearance, there is a saying circulating in "Jiang Hu" (World), It says: "Black Deng please do not post photos. I'm afraid we will fall in love with you."

 

More people, after archaeological research and understanding of his past and personality, have completely fallen in love with him.  He is Playful but not Bad.  He has never hurt anyone.

 

This big boy who has first-class aesthetics, fashionable clothes, slow speech, gentleness, delicateness, firmness and connotation.

 

By end September 2023, "Legend Of The Rosy Clouds" was completed. 

 

Deng Wei seamlessly joined the crew of "A Tree in Xian Tai", serving as the leading actor for the first time.

  

 

On 12 October 2023, "A Tree in Xian Tai" was launched.  Deng Wei received a "Thunderous and Rousing" support from fans.  Giving Weizi the greatest encouragement and support.

 

Weizi is currently filming on the set. He leaves for work early and goes home late.  Which is very tiring.

 

But for him, to whom "filming is more important than the sky", it is better to work hard filming than to have nothing to film at all.

 

Such a positive attitude has also inspired many fans to work hard and live a good life themselves.

The Production Crew and  Deng Wei's "Diamonds" have jointly prepared some revamps to the area where he goes to work.  Including poster reminding Fans to pay attention to Safety and to watch him from afar.  Umbrellas, stools and barriers are in his Fans-Support Colour - "Purple"

 

I am very impressed.  Deng Wei really cares for his "Diamond Fans".  He must have discussed this with the Production-Crew.  And the "Diamonds" themselves are very disciplined.  Through a Two-Ways Communications, they always come up with the best solutions for the Fans.

 

I have never seen this kind of arrangements for the Fans before.

 

Imagine?  Umbrellas and stools are provided for the Fans to watch him everyday in "In Comfort". 1) They are Free.    2) The Fans do not have to bring these items with them.

 

In other words, Deng Wei is telling them:  "I do not mind you all watching me.  But do not block the way.  And remember to keep safe."

The story of "A Tree In Xian Tai" is quite interesting.

 

It is somewhat similar to "Ten Miles of Peach Blossom".  And also has scenes of sealing the devil from the demon world and the loss of memory.

 

In "A Tree in Xian Tai", because Su Yi Shui had the spiritual spring in him sealed, it amplified his inner desire.  So  there will be a lot of kissing scenes ! 

 

At least "18 kissing scenes" if they follow the Novel.  But I am sure the Scriptwriter has made some changes.

Deng Wei was trending for "grinding off the thorns on a stick" for his rival actor - the Female Lead.  Yes.  The stick he is holding in the clip below.  The FL will use it against Su Yi Shui in the drama.

 

It was initially full of thorns and knots.  And Deng Wei was seen in one snap, smoothing it for the FL.

Deng Wei:    Some Of His Conspicuous Qualities 

 

1)  Strong-Willed.  Good Emotional Self-Control  :

After the explosion of  "Lost You Forever", almost all the leading actors have new endorsements and businesses. Even "Feng Leong" (Wang Hong Yi) who is not as good as Deng Wei in terms of roles also has a new business.

 

Except Deng Wei.  Because of this, he suffered countless ridicules:

"Didn't you say that he acquire the most number of Fans from this drama? Why is he not the one who has been endorsed by others?"

"He is just bragging about being popular? Without any endorsement, business, or magazine, can he still be considered popular?"

"It seems so. The image of his former trendiness was so scary that merchants were afraid that he would collapse. So they dare not hire him as an endorsement!"

"Keep on being a Hottie!  It is just Fake!"
 

 

How did Deng Wei respond to these ridicules?

At that time, he was still on the crew filming "Legend Of The Rosy Clouds".  He went to the set to film as usual.

 

Then suddenly surprised everyone with his Endorsements and Businesses.

Instead, he quietly waited for the official announcement from the magazine.

He recently asked for three days' leave from the crew.

 

The first day (26 Oct'23) was the Live Broadcast with CCTV6.   So everyone did not feel that he "disappeared".

 

But on the second and third days he is "missing" again.  No one knows what he is doing.  What kind of a surprise is he going to spring on us this time?

 

 

3)  Kind. Considerate. He Does Not Claim Credits For Himself :

While filming the TV series "A Tree In Xian Tai", there is an outdoor scene which requires the use of a tree branch.

 

Deng Wei squatted on the ground silently grinding the branch.  Because he did not tell others his purpose, many people thought he was playing.

 

 

 

Until he quietly handed the polished branch to the heroine's hand.

 

It turned out that he was worried about scratches on the branches.

 

He did not say anything.  He did not "take credit" for it.  But in the eyes of others. He is a very meticulous and gentle person.

 

 

4)  Helpful. A Good Team-Member :

Deng Wei not only do things quietly without taking credit.  He will always step forward at critical moments.

 

While recording "Hello Saturday", there is a game of racing, and at the same time, taking the clothes from a hanger to wear.

 

The first person to play has a lot of running around to do, and will be very tired.  So no one wants to do it.  Finally, it was Deng Wei who stood up and volunteered to do it.

 

 

 

5)  Simple. Forgiving  :

During the recent Concert for "Lost You Forever" his Manager and Staff identified the wrong person.  Deng Wei did not snap or yell when left alone.  Instead, he obediently stayed by the car and waited.  He did not make a big deal out of the incident.

1) Even though he comes from a "Qing Bei" (Double-Best University for Performance Arts), the Dance Drama Department of the Central Academy of Drama, he  has never marketed his academic qualifications and majors in public.  He had successfully graduated from college with a Bachelor Degree in Dance Drama.  It is just that he could not dance on the stage any more.

 

 

**Deng Wei was admitted to the Department of Dance and Drama of China National Theatre in 2014. He studied for five years and graduated in June 2019.  Graduated from the Central Academy of Drama with a Bachelor's Degree in Dance Drama.  He was a complete amateur before his debut.  In just three years, he relied on his own hard work to make a mark in the competitive Chinese Entertainment World. **

 

 

2)  And neither does he sells his "Sob Story" in exchange for Sympathy.  It were the Netizens who dig into his background and found out about his injuries.  And the "Black Ones" jump into the conclusions (or prefer to believe) that he dropped out of college.  And failed to graduate.
