Plot

Between Him and Her is a realistic and relatable romance drama which aims to draw out the simultaneous emotions of boredom and affection that exist for long-term couples.

 

Han Sung-Ok (Lee Seol) works as a jewelry designer and her boyfriend is Jung Hyun-Sung. They have dated for the past 7 years, but the passion in their relationship has cooled for both of them. Lee Seol confirms her next project after D.P. Season 2. 

On August 11th, it was officially confirmed that Lee Seol will be the female lead of the upcoming K-drama A Man and a Woman. She will be working with Super Junior's Lee Dong Hae in the romance K-drama. 

Lee Seol recently starred in the Netflix original K-drama D.P. Season 2. She worked alongside Jung Hae In, Koo Kyo Hwan, Kim Sung Kyun, Son Suk Ku, Kim Ji Hyun, and Ji Jin Hee. 

This will be the second upcoming K-drama of Lee Seol. The actress was also recently confirmed to join the 2024 K-drama The Love Story of Choon Hwa with Go Ah Sung, Chang Ryul, SF9's Chani, Son Woo Hyun, and Han Seung Yeon.

With the confirmation of her casting, Lee Seol expressed her feelings through her agency about appearing in the K-drama, "A Man and a Woman is a webtoon I liked and I'm amazed and grateful to play the character. I will work hard to create a drama that I can relate to with good colleagues. Thank you."

Super Junior’s Donghae and Lee Seol will be acting a long-term couple in a new drama!

On August 16, Donghae’s agency confirmed that he will be starring in Channel A’s upcoming drama “Man and Woman” (working title).

Based on a popular webtoon of the same name, “Man and Woman” is a realistic and relatable romance drama which aims to draw out the simultaneous emotions of boredom and affection that exist for long-term couples. The drama is written by Park Sang Min, who wrote the film “Love 911” and worked as a compositional writer on “Class of Lies.”

Donghae takes on the role of Jung Hyun Sung, who ambitiously launches a street fashion brand but struggles. Hyun Sung thinks about breaking up with his girlfriend Sung Ok (Lee Seol), whom he has been dating for seven years since his college days, because of a momentary mistake.

Lee Seol, who was previously confirmed for the female lead role, plays Hyun Sung’s girlfriend and jewelry designer Han Sung Ok.

'Man and Woman' is a realistic youth romance drama that tells the story of a man who can't break up and a woman who can't leave amidst love and boredom. Long-term couple Hyun-sung (Dong-hae) and Sung-ok (Lee Seol) have been together for seven years when they run into each other in front of a motel elevator with another member of the opposite sex.

Baek Soo-hee plays Yoon Yoo-joo, a realistic person in a relationship. Yoon is used to being listened to rather than telling her story. At the back of her mind is the loneliness of not being loved and raised, so she wants someone to rely on in a relationship. Baek Soo-hee will capture viewers' attention with her compelling performance as Yoon Yoo-joo, who is cold on the outside but has a complex inner life.

She made her debut in the film "Twenty" in 2015. More recently, she gained attention for her empathetic portrayal of a real-life office worker in the web drama "Adult Children. Baek Soo-hee has shown her presence as an actress through various works, including the dramas "Agency," "Melo Constitution," and the films "Hot Blood" and "Twenty. In "Men and Women," she will delicately portray the honest and realistic romance of young people.

On November 21, Channel A’s “Between Him and Her” shared a clip and photos from its first script reading. Director Park Sang Min and co-director Lee Yoo Yeon as well as actors Donghae, Lee Seol, Im Jae Hyuk, Yoon Ye Joo, Choi Won Myeong, Baek Soo Hee, Kim Hyun Mok, Park Jung Hwa, and Yeon Je Hyung were present on site, showcasing fantastic synergy from their first meeting.

Based on a popular webtoon, “Between Him and Her” is a realistic and relatable romance drama which aims to draw out the simultaneous emotions of boredom and affection that exist for long-term couples. The teaser video begins with a realistic love story between long-term couple Jung Hyun Sung (Super Junior’s Donghae) and Han Sung Ok (Lee Seol). While tidying up in the morning, Han Sung Ok and Jung Hyun Sung exchange conversation where she asks, “Are we going to do it today?” Then he replies, “Then are we not going to do it? It’s our anniversary,” exuding long-term couple vibes.

Despite that it is their seventh anniversary, Hyun Sung invites his friends over to their house instead of spending time alone with Sung Ok, making Han Sung Ok feel unappreciated.

Donghae and Lee Seol clash as Channel A’s Man and Woman

The promos have taken off for Channel A’s new series Man and Woman, giving us our first look at the main cast led by Donghae (Oh! Young-shim) and Lee Seol (D.P. 2) at the drama’s script reading, in addition to the first teaser.

The trailer explains from the get-go that this isn’t your typical romance, slapping the rose-colored glasses right off of our heads. Indeed, our leads are in quite the predicament after seven years of dating, when they run into each other in front of a motel elevator – each accompanied by someone else. But before we get there, the video focuses on the state of their current relationship and we’re promised a romance that is properly realistic.

 

 

We then cut to Han Sung-ok (Lee Seol) putting on her makeup and she dispassionately asks if our hero had been wanting to do it today. A disappointed Jung Hyun-sung (Donghae) argues that it’s their anniversary, but Sung-ok doesn’t understand the fuss and the comic-style freeze frame reads: “The woman who can’t break up.”

That doesn’t mean though that Sung-ok doesn’t like her snuggles, but it’s Hyun-sung’s turn to ruin the mood. He tells her now that their friends are coming over, adding  unconcernedly, “Did you want us to be alone?” The comic captions then read: “The man who can’t leave.”

As the sequence heats up, we’re warned about the racy content, but this too will be from a realistic lens. Case in point, Sung-ok wonders if Hyun-sung doesn’t want to look at her face – when asked to try something in bed – and we soon hear another complaint: “You’re looking at your cellphone as soon as we’re done?”

The appearing text screens boast that the drama will be like a documentary on dating and is based on the number one ranking webtoon by the same title on Naver, trusting in the original’s creator Hyeo-noh. In a cute final montage, our characters express not wanting to wait any longer and Hyun-sung rallies the group before the teaser closes on our main pair.

The series will also be exploring different relationships through the larger cast, which includes Yoon Ye-joo (Welcome), Im Jae-hyuk (Daily Dose of Sunshine), and Choi Won-myung (CEO-dol Mart), as well as Baek Soo-hee (Agency), Kim Hyun-mok (The Matchmakers), and EXID’s Park Jung-hwa (Mask Girl).

Both written and directed by Park Sang-min (Class of Lies), with PD Lee Yoo-yeon co-directing, Man and Woman is slated to air on December 26, broadcasting in Channel A’s Tuesday slot.
