[Current Drama 2023] Live Your Own Life/Hyo Shim’s Independent Life, 효심이네- Uee & Ha Joon - Saturday & Sunday @ 19:55 KST

Recommended Posts

I'm liking the show so far. Hyo Shim's family seems pretty awful, but they seem to at least acknowledge it sometimes. We'll see if the relationship with her mom improves, and I'm sure we will see the father later. Her younger brother seems like the worst though. Like, already it will be hard to redeem him for me.

I really hope they don't go too deep into the love triangle. I quite like Tae Min so far, so I'd hate if the love triangle took too much of a focus.

Excited to see what happens to Grandma now after episode 2's events.

Sparks Fly Between Uee And Ha Jun At The Gym In “Live Your Own Life”

Sparks Fly Between Uee And Ha Jun At The Gym In “Live Your Own Life”

Sep 23, 2023
by E. Cha

Will Ha Jun turn out to be Uee’s most difficult client yet on “Live Your Own Life”?

“Live Your Own Life” is a new KBS drama starring Uee as Lee Hyo Shim, a warmhearted personal trainer and self-sacrificing daughter who has always put her family’s needs before her own—until she finally makes up her mind to break free from her leech-like family and pursue her own happiness. Ha Jun stars as Kang Tae Ho, the director of the planning division of a conglomerate group.

Spoilers

On the second episode of “Live Your Own Life,” Lee Hyo Shim made up her mind to take on difficult VIP client Kang Tae Ho, who insisted that he needed to work out at 5 in the morning. Although she had previously declared that she wouldn’t be paying off her irresponsible family members’ debts, her resolve weakened when her mother went to the hospital for a work-related burn—and because she needed money right away, she decided to become Kang Tae Ho’s personal trainer.

However, in the drama’s upcoming third episode, Lee Hyo Shim will find out that she’s in for a rough ride. Not only is Kang Tae Ho demanding and difficult to please, but he’s also rude, dismissively telling Hyo Shim he doesn’t exercise with women. Seemingly looking down on her, Tae Ho starts working out on his own, without her help—leaving a flabbergasted Hyo Shim staring at him in shock.

But in spite of Tae Ho’s off-putting attitude, Hyo Shim was instructed by her boss to get on VIP client Tae Ho’s good side, so that he would keep returning to their gym for personal training—and because she is in desperate need of a performance bonus, she has no choice but to try to change his mind.

Auntie Evil is the 100% prime example of being the biblical false prophetess Jezebel.  Her character is like her in every way possible and then some! There better not be any kumbaya for her by the end of this drama. They better giver her the ending that the real Jezebel had. I think she had her brother-in-law murdered in a car wreck.

In the KBS2 weekend drama, Live Your Own Life, which previous episode aired on September 23, Nam Bo Ra took on the role of aspiring celebrity Jung Mi Rim who began her residency at a boarding house, and had her first encounter with Lee Hyo Joon (Seol Jung Hwan).

Jung Mi Rim confidently enters the boarding house, saying she already knew everything about the place as the manager explained it, perfectly portraying the excitement of a young person taking their first steps toward their dreams.

As she unpacks her luggage, Jung Mi Rim begins decorating the wall with posters and organizes her flashy costumes and props, showcasing her character's cute charm. Her natural portrayal of everyday life and her unique passion for her dreams evoked deep empathy from those familiar with the struggles of job hunting.

When Mi Rim and Hyo Joon accidentally collided while opening the boarding house door, he unintentionally stuck a post-it note on her forehead. The not-so-smooth first encounter between Mi Rim and Hyo Joon has raised expectations for their future relationship.

Today, Nam Bo Ra showcased a strong presence even in her short appearance, infusing life into the drama. Her distinctive clear visuals and bright energy smoothly portrayed the character of Jung Mi Rim, who pursues her dreams without faltering in challenging circumstances, and she offered a variety of charms right from her first appearance, creating anticipation for her future performances.

Meanwhile Live Your Own Life, featuring Nam Bo Ra, airs every Saturday and Sunday at 8:05 PM KST on KBS2.

Live Your Own Life: Episode 3 (Drama Highlights)

by Unit

Editor’s Note: After a lot of Beanie interest in space to chat about KBS’s family weekender dramas, we are trying out a new thing: Drama Highlights. Each week we will post a thread for the new episodes, and mention a few plot points — be it high points, low points, or terribly mediocre points. Please join us in the comments! If interest remains high, we will continue through the drama’s 50-episode run.

The premiere week introduced us to the (many) — semi-normal, quirky, over-the-top, and scheming — characters in the story world, and their relationships to each other. Our heroine, Hyo-shim, and her love interest-to-be, Tae-ho, also crossed paths. And as @quirkycase put it, it looks like we’re getting an enemies-to-lovers trope with them.

Now that we’re done with the majority of character introductions, everyone is beginning to settle down in their respective roles. Tae-ho and Hyo-shim’s gym sessions start off on the wrong foot because he’s surprisingly sexist. But Hyo-shim is nothing if not professional and damn good at her job — a fact that Tae-oh’s older cousin, Tae-min, can attest to since she was his trainer before he went to prison. Tae-min even wants her back as his trainer — unfortunately, she’s stuck with the new VIP client (Tae-ho) at the gym. Unlike you’d expect between cousins whose parents were at odds with each other, there seems to be a mutual respect and brotherly love between Tae-ho and Tae-min. But now that Tae-min has returned to the company, his father has passed on the baton of the chaebol power struggle to him. The next leg of the power struggle relay: a potential arranged marriage to consolidate Tae-min’s position. It’s left to see how all of this will play out since Tae-min, from all indications, has a crush on Hyo-shim.

Potential love triangle between the cousins aside, Hyo-shim and her family unknowingly continue to be entangled with the Kang family. Her eldest brother, LEE HYO-SUNG (Nam Sung-jin), has been assigned to assist Tae-ho at work, and her younger brother, LEE HYO-DO (Kim Do-yeon), just ran into escapee halmeoni with his loan-purchased “banz.” By the way, halmeoni seems to be immune to the power of the white Truck of Doom. On her first encounter with one, she got a free ride. On her second encounter, she got hit by Hyo-do’s car instead. She’s not our average granny, that’s for sure.

I am guessing the homeless girl is Taemin’s sister who is supposedly studying somewhere. I think her character is weird. They could make her less shameless. Stealing food in room full of people, sleeping in the gazebo where anyone could report her to the police…

His mother has always played nasty, conniving characters in the dailies, bar one. She’s good at it too.

I was wondering if the show would take a break this week due to Chuseok but I suppose not?

I am used to watching dailies, this is the first time that I see an ML who’s slightly taller than the FL.

The grandmother is a landlady. She picks rubbish and eats her neighbour’s food. She sends money to son and grandson happily. :pensive:This has to be a commentary on some Koreans.
