Do you think it will come back to bite Joo Won's behind?

For sure. Because they made the bet with regard to the bike, and now they switched bodies, Oska will probably try to get closer with Ju Won in Ra Im's body. Ju Won will hate that and kick him away, then Oska will complain to Raim in Juwon's body, be like wtf how come she is behaving such a cold person and not like my fangirl. Too bad because I won our bet.

Then she will kick Ju Won's RickRoll'D when she is in his body, so it will hurt her too :D

Am guessing that her drive to want to participate in the car stunt at Jeju with her colleagues is what drove her to accept the prize? I think she's super passionate about her work.

Yeah but to be honest, I think it drove her more that it's Oska - her idol's - MV. Otherwise she wouldn't have dared. You can see how much she respects the director and wouldn't go against his wishes/way, unless given a strong impetus.

I'm sure there were other car scenes before too...

Some of the plot points that I enjoyed were when the characters discussed class issues and the unfairness of being treated better just because one has money. As Joo-Won points out, the rich view fairness as a ridiculous concept.

"Secret Garden," Hyun Bin, Korean Drama, KDrama, KOCOWA

There are some K-Drama tropes that don’t make any sense. For instance, Ra-Im is a taekwondo expert who can fight off multiple men. But she struggles when a man grabs her wrist. Really?

Tell me about it. I also found this incredulous. And what’s with his incessant wrist grabbing anyway?

Am so glad we are seeing less / no wrist grabs nowadays in kdramas. I started watching kdramas about the time Secret Garden came out and this wrist grabbing thing made me really uncomfortable.

agree chingu ,He gets to act  sometimes like a jerk in early episodes:crazymad:

The female protagonist's character is rather inconsistent. She is a spunky stuntwoman, brave and athletic, and she stands her ground when the spoiled rich guy starts to pursue her, kicking and hitting him and rejecting his advances many times. However, she keeps apologising and bowing to everybody else and cries  I think this inconsistency becomes problematic at the body switching scenes.

Me!  Thoughts about ep 3-5? Are you excited about the body swap?

- As the first time I saw it, it came a bit out of nowhere for me. For several episodes there was nothing that hinted at anything supernatural, that hinted at the show becoming more unrealistic than it already is, except for that painting of the house in the woods,

Spoiler

and the lights turning on when no one is watching, and Joo Won wondering if he saw correctly...

- One of the real stars in this episode segment were the bottles of wine. Couldn't stop from staring, because they looked so pretty with the fruits and flowers inside. It looked like flavorful, delicious sweet tea, and now I really wonder if it exists and now I want a taste of it. Guess I have to go to South Korea on a Secret Garden tour!
- The problem with re-watching the show this year is that I have seen sooooo many body swaps stories since the Secret Garden came, so the excitement wasn't as strong, but it is still hilarious years later. It is well written, and the actors are so great in their role!

This is me when the swap first happened, and Joo Won too:

Yes, agree with this chingu. You see, this is one of Kim Eun Sook's earlier works - and she's kinda obsessed with the Cinderella story. She keeps rewriting the same fairy tale over and over again. So even though Gil Ra Im is "on paper" a strong stunt woman, the writer still insists on making her quite weak - in order for the ML to turn her into Cinderella.

I was also wondering about this. What kind of flowers do they put into it? Are they edible? I was kind of thinking that they were made to look that way just for the drama, but I don't know.

CHINGUS, DON'T FORGET TO VOTE IN THE POLL!

By the way, the mysterious place they encountered in the forest where they grabbedk the magic portion, I guess, is the same place in one of the paintings, right?? I mean Joo Won saw the lights are on in the painting but then it's all turned dark! I really found the scene so creepy! :open_mouth: Then it was their destiny to go there? I'll leave some funny comments next time! :D

I just finished episodes 3 and 4 and I'm having a VERY hard time with the dynamics between Ra Im and Joo Won. Her actions don't make any sense to me. She needs to channel her stuntwoman fight skills and energy when he is being such a jerk to her. Instead she's just submitting to his wrist-grabbing and vacuum-cleaner-tossing and being dragged into closed tight (non-romantic) spaces. I wish she would use some cool moves to get out of his wrist grabs, and I wish she would come up with some things to say back to him rather than just staring at him wide-eyed.

Ok. Rant over.

The show is very funny at times, especially when Joo Won says stuff like, "That doesn't mean the track suit doesn't look good on me." And Oska chasing after Lee Jong Suk is funny.

Watched episode 5 and 6 and I like the show better now. It's nice to see some flashbacks where Joo Won is more humane and caring and not just arrogant all the time. And when they swap bodies it is hilarious! But I'll save that commentary for when we start talking about Eps 6 - 8.

Oska and Joo won making bets about who gets to date Ra Im was quite distasteful to me.

That bothered me, too. It should be her choice whom to date. Not sure why these two guys thought it would be up to them.

This show is surprisingly addictive and I’m on Ep 9 now.

Funny parts:

- All the people in Joo Won and Ra Im’s world saying “What?!” every time JW and RI say something completely out of character.

- Oska’s crazy furry fashion.
- Hyun Bin’s hilarious deferential facial expressions and his meekness. I didn’t think Ra Im had been that meek but maybe she had been.

- Joo Won’s assistant being totally flustered by JW, especially when he gets texts from JW that JW doesn’t seem to remember sending. :joy:

I can sympathize with Seul’s broken heart but the way she treats everyone is annoying and unlikeable. I’m not sure what Oska still sees in her. I have a feeling they have a happy ending and I hope I like her by then. :D

Overall it seems one of the main themes of this drama is No one is who they seem on the outside, and the body swap hammers that in even more.

To be honest this storyline is annoying to me. Yeah misunderstandings are awful but she is actively trying to ruin his career. Then again I don't much like Oska either.

Yeaaaah she's not even trying to act like she is that jerk. It's funny to see her all moon-faced about her crush with Oska, and tbh kinda gross to see that on Hyun Bin's face, if you consider they are cousins LOL.  (THAT KISS).

Hyun Bin is a good actor. (Too bad I don't really like his dramas though).

It’s a great plot device that they’re cousins. With how messy and complex the relationships are with and without the body swapping, at least there’s never any hint that anything will actually happen between Oska and Joo Won for real. Too bad the two actors were the ones that actually kissed though. Lol.
