Group EXO member Chen conveys happiness through the OST of JTBC's Saturday-Sunday drama 'Doctor Slump'.

According to his agency INB100 on the 7th, Chen participated as a singer in the third OST 'How to Love Me' of JTBC's Saturday-Sunday drama 'Doctor Slump', which will be released on the 10th. ‘Doctor Slump’ Park Hyeong-sik
'Doctor Slump' Park Hyeong-sik's 'standard male friend' aspect is causing excitement.

JTBC's Saturday-Sunday drama 'Doctor Slump' is a romantic comedy drama depicting the cardiopulmonary resuscitation of Park Hyeong-sik (Yeo Jeong-woo) and Park Shin-hye (Nam Ha-neul), who hit a brake after only running on an upward curve in life.

In the 3rd and 4th episodes of 'Doctor Slump', Park Hyung-sik's full-fledged 'real-life romantic boyfriend' moment unfolded, exciting the home theater. When Park Shin-hye said that what she wanted to do during her break was to read papers all night long, Park Hyung-sik took Park Shin-hye to eat tteokbokki and have a good time at the arcade and karaoke. The calm consolation that Park Hyeong-sik delivered in his own way to Park Shin-hye, who regrets that she lived a foolish life, left a deep impression on those who watched it.

Park Hyeong-sik's suggestion to go see the sunrise exploded viewers' excitement. “Let’s be friends, not classmates. The sweet comment, “Let’s be friends with me,” aroused deep immersion. Park Shin-hye's subtle pink current continued for a while as she mistakenly thought that he was Park Shin-hye's first love, but Park Shin-hye's clear words about going on a blind date shook Park Hyeong-sik's psychology. Even though she tries to deny her feelings, she gets irritated for no reason and the sight of her losing her temper sometimes makes her laugh.

Meanwhile, Park Hyung-sik found out that Park Shin-hye, who went for an interview with the intention of making a fresh start, would not be hired, and hurriedly headed to the countryside for fear that Park Shin-hye would be hurt. Park Hyeong-sik appears in front of Park Shin-hye, who is distraught, saying that she must have lived a wrong life, and gives her heartfelt consolation by saying, “You didn’t live wrong, it’s not your fault.” The ending, which was greeted with a strange atmosphere, raised curiosity about what kind of emotions Park Hyung-sik will unfold in the future.

In this way, Park Hyung-sik is completing the romance of a 'wannabe male friend' by alternating between jealousy and affectionateness towards her, thrilling her woman's heart, and comforting Park Shin-hye and taking good care of her. Expectations are rising for the character Yeo Yeong-woo that Park Hyeong-sik will continue to create, as he delivers touching comfort, warm excitement, and pleasant healing through 'Doctor Slump'.

While they can dance the same dance, <Doctor Slump> Park Shin-hye and Park Hyung-sik

The moment the music we listened to together starts playing, we immediately start dancing together. The love depicted by Park Shin-hye and Park Hyung-sik in <Doctor Slump>.

「Happy today, Park Shin-hye」

Q: What do you keep eating? It's unexpected

A: I am relieved because I eat well (laughs).

Q: How was today’s photo shoot?

A: It was fun. It's been a while since I've been filming alone, but it's been a while since I filmed as a couple, so it's lively and nice. The last couple pictorial was 'Sisyphus: the myth'. Because it was a gap period.

Dress, warmer, shoes, and necklace are all Chanel.

Dress, warmer, shoes, and necklace are all Chanel.

Q: You were with 〈Elle〉 back then too. How do you feel about returning after 3 years through ‘Doctor Slump’? Are you nervous?

A: There is a sense of tension that comes with starting any work, and I think that’s exactly what it is. Originally, I did one drama every two to three years. I decided to alternate it with movies every 2-3 years, so it felt natural to me.

Q: In “Doctor Slump,” you played Nam Ha-neul, an anesthesiologist suffering from burnout syndrome. What was your first impression of the scenario?

A: It was a good read because it was a story that could happen in everyday life. Since I also have a job where I come into contact with many people, I became more attached to Haneul, who was always intimidated and had a hard time in relationships. A slump can happen to anyone. Even if it looks fine on the outside, there are many cases where the heart is not. It is not a story about overcoming such times through great events, but about gaining strength from people around you or small habits. In the case of Haneul, she comforts herself with tteokbokki, which is like soul food. And although things have improved a lot, there is a social atmosphere that makes people reluctant to go to a psychiatric clinic, right? I think our drama will help lower that perception.

Q: Our society seems to be very angry these days, so I think this drama is needed at the right time.

A: That's right. I chose this work because I sympathized with that aspect. When choosing a work, I think about ‘what kind of message I can give’ as much as ‘how can I show a new side of myself’. In that sense, I wanted to say, ‘Let’s let go of our anger and walk step by step.’

Spoiler

The jacket and skirt worn by Park Shin-hye are both Akris. Both the ring and earrings are Trencadism. Park Hyung-sik's jacket, top, and pants are all from Dries Van Noten.

Q: Why are we all so angry?

A: I think it's more so because we live in a society where we compare ourselves. Comparison culture through SNS can also create a sense of inferiority. Because I am human, there are times when I am not free from such things. Acting is a job where you are compared and evaluated at every moment, right? As I was thinking about how I could be a little happier amidst all this, there were parts that were compared to me while reading the script of “Doctor Slump.”

Q: Is there a solution you found while filming the drama?

A: If it can't be done, it can't be done no matter what. But that's not everything, so I need to find a way to be happy. Ever since I was young, I was quick to give up on things that weren't mine. It's not that I don't have regrets, but even if I have to 'kick the blanket', I tend to just look ahead and walk forward.

Q: You’re not the type of person to have a lot of regrets about the past.

A: I regret it. However, because I had such regrets and lingering feelings, I realized that I am who I am now.

Spoiler

Q: What has changed about actor Park Hyung-sik, whom we met again after 〈The Heirs〉, compared to 11 years ago?

A: Hyungsik was really busy at that time. As soon as I landed at the airport after touring overseas, I would come straight to the filming set, and it was surprising how I could memorize my lines while I was so busy. I thought it was amazing that he didn't frown even once. I met Hyungsik again, and as expected, he has a good personality. He is gentle and accepts other people's opinions well. I was comfortable because I could breathe well.

Q: You wore a school uniform in ‘Doctor Slump’. He debuted at the age of 13 and often played characters that were more mature than his age, but now he's playing roles that are younger than his years.

A: It's because of the flashback scenes, but I didn't know there would be so many school uniform scenes. I have to stop wearing school uniform now, but how long will scenes from the past continue to appear? . I got a lot of compliments while wearing the school uniform (laughter). When I look at the middle and high school students who came as supporting actors, they are so ‘baby’. Oh, I thought I should stop wearing it.

Q: What would it be like if you went back to your childhood? If you knew then what you know now, do you think you would still have become an actor?

A: I think I can do better if I go back with my memories of now.

Spoiler

Shirt, jacket, and earrings are all from Bottega Veneta.

Shirt, jacket, and earrings are all from Bottega Veneta.

Q: So you mean to go through it again?

A: Yes. I'll go through it again! Ever since I was young, I enjoyed acting. I was hurt by something incidental, but at least the acting didn't bother me. I liked the scene, and I enjoyed the fact that I was expressing and creating something. At that time, I wasn't conscious of viewership ratings. Just 'the acting is so good, the scene is so fun!' It was like this. Then things changed as I realized that the filming set was not just a fun place. I had that thought in my mid-20s. It was when I woke up to a sense of responsibility.

Q: You must have felt pressure to carry out the work.

A: Yes. If you think about it, it's a good thing. When I was young, I didn't know that it was a burden. If I had known about it earlier, it probably would have been difficult to bear. As I passed my mid-20s, I think I thought I needed to do my acting a little more systematically.

Q: Actually, since then, I have tried various genres. The spectrum was expanded to the zombie film 〈#Alive〉, the thriller 〈Call〉, and the science fiction mystery 〈Sisyphus〉. What plan did you move with?

A: There was an intention, but various works came to me naturally during that period. The work I wanted matched well with the work I received.

Q: You are also holding an overseas fan meeting this year. How does it feel to be loved for this long, even overseas?

A: Thank you so much. I don't know what to do with myself. Actually, I thought, 'I'm old and have a lot of young and pretty friends, so wouldn't it be possible to have overseas fan meetings?' But the company said, “Let’s do it!” and I thought, ‘This is going to work?’ I was a little dazed while thinking about it. There are people who like me, but I also felt that Korean dramas are loved all over the world.

Spoiler

Q: You are known as an actress with great romantic chemistry, so much so that there is a saying, ‘Park Shin-hye’s co-star is hot.’ Is it because she is tolerant of her co-star, or because she handles her character with great care?

A: I think I always acted with the hope that viewers would empathize with me and see the other person. The main viewers of romantic dramas are women, so she thought that the better that part of the drama was, the more the drama would be loved. However, rather than saying I did anything special, the main reason is that all the actors I worked with acted so well that it made viewers' hearts flutter.

Q: When was your turning point as an actor?

A: If I were to choose “You’re Beautiful,” there’s “The Heirs.” Let’s pick “The Heirs” and then there’s “Doctors” too… . What is a cycle? It's like waves rolling in the open sea. Some days it's calm, some days it's stormy, and some days it's like pretty waves.

Q: Is there anything that has faded in the world that you would like to resuscitate, be it a person, a relationship, an emotion, or any other value?

A: Earth. As I see the rapid increase in natural disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis, and heat waves, I feel that cardiopulmonary resuscitation is necessary. The irony of saying this is that our job is to show off. As a result, we wear new clothes every time a new season comes, and a lot of carbon is generated in the process of making those clothes. I am not unaware of this contradiction. However, I think it is important to recognize contradictions. I don't want to lose my awareness of the problem.

Q: What makes Park Shin-hye happiest these days?

A: It’s abstract… Today. I am thankful for today that I was able to do a photo shoot and interview like this. It seems like everything exists only if there is today. Tomorrow will come only if today is safe. Tomorrow becomes today again. Even if you are unhappy today, you can have a good day when you face tomorrow. So I'm trying to live happily today.

「 Natural comfort, Park Hyung-sik 」

Q: When we met for an interview on Youth Month a year ago, I asked, “Do you have any promises to yourself as we welcome the new year of 2023?” and you said, “I’m very spontaneous, so I don’t make promises to myself.”

A: I think it would be a burden if I were tied down to that promise (laughs). But I still don’t plan anything or set goals.

Q: Is the selection of works also intuitive?

A: Even though I put a lot of thought into it, I think I ultimately choose a scenario that I enjoyed reading. There is a book that makes you quickly move on while reading it. 〈Doctor Slump〉 was like that too. I really sympathized with the theme of ‘slump’. I also thought that it would be meaningful to our society, where we live fiercely every day. I think everyone experiences burnout and slumps. While watching our drama, I thought, ‘It’s not just me. I hope you feel comforted and think, ‘Everyone lives like that.’

Spoiler

All knits and shirts are Hermès.

All knits and shirts are Hermès.

Q: Since the main character is a doctor, I thought it would have a strong medical drama feel, but I heard that the main setting is not a hospital.

A: If it were a medical drama, I would have had a hard time choosing. I already got a taste of how difficult it is to play a professional character through films like “Suits,” which were set in a law firm (laughs). During “Suits,” you had a hard time because there were a lot of English lines. I was attracted to ‘Doctor Slump’ because it is a work with a human touch.

Q: Yeo Yeong-woo is a person whose life was only on an upward curve but then hit a brake. What about you? On the surface, the graph of Park Hyung-sik's life is upward sloping, but the graph you feel is probably different.

A: If you look at the stock graph, it seems to have come in small waves without ever hitting an upper limit. I would like to hit the upper limit at least once, but it keeps coming like this.

Q: The price has never been at the lower limit.

A: So, I feel fortunate, but I am also greedy as an actor. I would like to see a work like that at least once (laughter). When things don't go as well as I expected, I console myself with 'It's okay, I can do it again' and try not to be disappointed. But I guess the damage was accumulating little by little without me realizing it. I think it's important to control myself healthily.

Q: How do I control it?

A: I am simple. I think he protects me well because he has a style that never ends.

Q: When I reunited with actress Park Shin-hye, “The Heirs” was mentioned again, so I watched it again before the interview. At that time, Myung-soo (Park Hyeong-sik) made something popular.

A: (drawing a V) “Hehe~!”

Q: I can’t believe I saw this right before my eyes (laughs).

A: It was a line and pose that writer Kim Eun-sook directly requested. He showed me a ‘picture’ saying it was a pose from an animation. So she just went “hehe, hehe” and didn’t know she would get so much love.

Q: When “The Heirs” aired in 2013, you were just starting out in acting, right? How do you feel when you look back on yourself at that time?

A: 2013 was a busy year for me. I did a variety show, Real Men, went on tour, and even did a musical, so I never had a day off. In that situation, I went back and forth to the filming set of “The Heirs,” but my part wasn’t that much, so even if I was able to film, I only did about one scene a day. Go and say “Hello!” Dehe, dehe,” and when the director gives the OK, “Thank you for your hard work!” And as soon as I left the scene, both (Lee) Minho and (Kim) Woobin said, “What? Are you going right away? “It’s so Hollywood~” (laughs). I had the regret of not being able to make many memories while staying at the site.

Q: You have made real memories with actress Park Shin-hye this time. What kind of actress is Park Shin-hye that you have seen up close?

A: At that time, I was so focused on acting that I didn't have time to look at anything else. Now that I've finally seen my sister's acting, I'm impressed. For example, I find it difficult to act emotionally. You have to go through a complex build-up process to immerse yourself in your emotions and bring them out. However, my sister's emotions come out as if she were pressing a button. But it doesn't seem mechanical either. I learned a lot by seeing that situation right before my eyes.

Q: When did I go through the period of focusing on my acting and start seeing the whole scene?

A: It really hasn't been that long. It was after I was discharged from the military, and I don't know if it was the military influence or because I was getting older, but at some point, I stopped being impatient on set.

The shirt, skirt, and shoes worn by Park Shin-hye are all Maison Margiela. The jacket, shirt, t-shirt, tie, belt, pants and shoes worn by Park Hyung-sik are all from Bottega Veneta.

Q: What if you can see the scene? I think that if you see a lot of things, there may be more calculations and it may be more fun.

A: I think the scene has become more comfortable. Because I can clearly see the other person, I can give various feedback, and the fun of working together has also increased.

Q: Joy, sadness, loneliness, fear, frustration... . If you have any feelings that you are sensitive to among these,

A: I tend to think about the other side of emotions. For example, Jungwoo is always bright. Jungwoo, who is bright despite going through difficult times, may seem contradictory to some. 'How can I smile when something like that happens?' Because it can happen. But just because someone smiles doesn’t mean they don’t feel pain. Just because you're in pain doesn't mean you have to stay depressed. Knowing that feeling so well, I realized that Jungwoo was like me. So I wanted to be more emotional and express it better.

Q: Now that I think about it, it’s a job where you have to hide your true emotions well. When acting, isn’t it difficult to keep the gap between your real emotions?

A: Ah! The mindset is that you have to do it no matter what. The moment I fail, I think I'm 'unprofessional', so I try to completely separate my emotions from work.

Top, jacket, and ear cuffs are all Givenchy.

Q: Is there anything that has faded in the world that you would like to resuscitate, be it a person, a relationship, an emotion, or any other value?

A: This is a very personal opinion. Has the world become too consequential? In the past, even if someone made a mistake, we would buy them a drink and encourage them by saying, “You can do it.” But now the recipient doesn't want it either. Sometimes people react by saying, ‘Who asked you to drag me?’ As this happens repeatedly, the other person doesn't even bother to reach out. Now, if you make a mistake, that's the end of judgment! It's a shame that a lot of the affection seems to have disappeared.

Q: There is a narration by Jungwoo that refers to Nam Ha-neul as ‘a girl I absolutely hated back then.’ A slightly modified question: What type of person do you dislike?

A: A rude person. I try to think that I am understanding and tolerant. Sometimes even that line is crossed. He doesn't hate people like that, but he thinks he's someone who doesn't exist in my life.

Q: That's wise. Hating someone takes energy and is difficult.

A: That's right. Those times are not good for me either.

Q: Conversely, who do you like?

A: I like people. I think each person has their own charm. It was when I was filming “Strong Woman Do Bong-soon” with (Park) Bo-young. Perhaps because we looked lovely, the director asked, “Isn’t there something between you two?” It's like this. Then Boyoung said, “Director! Hyung-sik also looks at the director with such sweet eyes. “This guy is definitely a philanthropist.” I knew then (laughter). I really like people.

Q: As a lead actor, I think there are times when you have to show ‘responsibility’ and ‘presence’ on set. How would you deal with a situation where there is a conflict between responsibility and presence?

A: That's my personal standard. They say that things you need to think about other than responsibility or acting should not be done on set. Those things should be completed in a private space. If you bring things other than acting to the scene, your thoughts will get tangled up and you will end up in a situation where you don't know what to do. Instead, I focus on acting, and when I come home and relive the day, I reflect and think, 'I shouldn't do that tomorrow.'

Q: Your perspective on acting is clear.

A: It's not the right answer, but it was helpful to me.

Q: What is Park Hyung-sik thinking about the most right now?

A: Friends. It's something precious to me. The more important something is, the better you should protect it. And health. Physical health is important, but I am realizing that mental health is also important.

'Doctor Slump' Park Hyeong-sik and Park Shin-hye's trustworthy romantic comedy worked this time too.

JTBC's Saturday-Sunday drama 'Doctor Slump' is receiving a better-than-expected response by providing pleasant laughter, excitement, warm empathy, and comfort. The story of Yeo Jung-woo (played by Park Hyeong-sik) and Nam Ha-neul (played by Park Shin-hye), who began to seep into each other as they went through the most brilliant and humble times together, added interest and increased immersion. The synergy between Park Hyung-sik and Park Shin-hye, who made viewers laugh and feel excited with their more sophisticated romantic comedy skills, shines in every episode.

The viewership rating for the 4th episode, which aired on the 4th, was 7.5% (based on Nielsen Korea, paying households in the metropolitan area), its highest rating, ranking first among all general programming channels for two consecutive weeks. The overseas response is also enthusiastic. It ranked first in Netflix's Global TOP 10 TV (non-English) category with 2.9 million views and 10.2 million viewing hours. It ranked first in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. It was ranked in the top 10 in 24 countries in Asia, Europe (Greece, Portugal, Romania), and Africa (Egypt, Mauritius, Morocco, Nigeria), gaining global popularity. (Netflix, January 29 - February 4)

Meanwhile, behind-the-scenes cuts of Park Hyung-sik and Park Shin-hye, who are captivating viewers on the weekend, were released. The back of the filming set of the two actors, who are showing off their skills and potential as the returning 'rom-com masters', catches the eye. The friendly atmosphere of these people, who are literally working hard on their acting and chemistry, gives us an idea of the secret to the favorable reviews for the work.

Park Hyeong-sik is showing the standard of a wannabe male friend as 'Yeo Jeong-woo', who is playful and has a comfortable charm like his friend. He, who gave generous support to Nam Ha-neul, who was suffering from depression and burnout, also fell into the worst slump of his life. His passionate performance, which captures his sense of emptiness and loss as he suddenly awakens to the reality he finds himself in, attracts attention. The truth about the medical accident for which Yeo Yeong-woo was falsely accused, the source of the hidden camera found in his space, and the identity of the mysterious man chasing him are other points to watch, adding to curiosity.

Park Shin-hye's sincerity and passion for her acting are clearly conveyed in the sparkling eyes of Park Shin-hye, who is monitoring her own footage. Even on her return after three years, Park Shin-hye's presence was still different. With her realistic acting, she made viewers laugh and cry as she completed another relatable character, Nam Ha-neul. In particular, he was only focused on working and studying and was only able to put the brakes on his life after suffering a mental illness. He is changing little by little through Yeo Jeong-woo. She naturally cheers for Nam Ha-neul, who compares herself to a beer can, to see if she will be able to rebuild her distorted life.

Episode 5 of ‘Doctor Slump’ will be aired at 10:30 pm on the 10th.

Actress Park Shin-hye's elegant blind date look in the JTBC Saturday-Sunday drama 'Dr. Slump' is a hot topic.

In the last 4 episodes, Yeo Jung-woo (Park Hyeong-sik) was depicted as being overcome by unfamiliar and complex emotions toward Nam Ha-neul (Park Shin-hye).

While she fell into the illusion that she was Nam Ha-neul's first love, she was shocked to hear the news of an unexpected blind date. Although Yeo Yeon-woo pretended nothing was wrong, she kept getting worried, and when Nam Ha-neul was frustrated ahead of her interview at a new hospital, he appeared in front of her and gave her warm comfort.

On this day, many people paid attention to the bright beige colored dress that Park Shin-hye wore in the blind date scene.

The dress worn by Park Shin-hye is a product of the brand MOJO.S.PINE, and is an item that can be used in a variety of ways, from date look to wedding guest look in the upcoming spring season.

It features an A-line flared skirt line and belt point with a neat and clean design, perfect for creating a feminine and elegant mood. The price is 999,000 won.

Meanwhile, 'Doctor Slump' is a romantic comedy drama depicting the 'ruined lives' of doctors who fall into the biggest slump of their lives for their own reasons, including a 10 billion dollar lawsuit, burnout, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Park Shin-hye and Park Hyung-sik reunited 11 years after the SBS drama 'The Heirs', which garnered attention even before it aired. The two succeeded in killing two birds with one stone, viewer ratings and topicality, with chemistry that exceeded expectations.

In particular, Park Shin-hye, who returned after 3 years, is showing acting worthy of the title 'rom-com queen'. Park Shin-hye gave her laughter by expressing the venom of the southern sky that no one can match when it comes to her studies. She also aroused deep sympathy through her portrayal of Nam Ha-neul, who lived her life knowing nothing but work, but all she got at the end was a heartache that she could not tell anyone about.

Park Hyung-sik, who met viewers with a romantic comedy for the first time in about 7 years, further doubled the character's charm with his acting that immersed himself in Yeo Yeong-woo. The perfect life of Yeo Yeong-woo, who has all the skills, visuals, and personality, reaches a decisive turning point due to a mysterious medical accident. Park Hyeong-sik continues to be evaluated as increasing the level of immersion in the play by portraying the emotional lines of the characters who go back and forth between the two poles through continuous rise and fall.
