MBC’s upcoming historical drama has dropped new stills featuring Woo Do Hwan and Lee Kyu Sung’s friendship!

 

“Joseon Attorney” (literal translation) tells the story of an oejibu (attorney in Joseon Dynasty) who takes revenge on an enemy that caused the death of his parents through a trial. Although the drama starts with revenge, it will depict the growth of the protagonist who gradually becomes a real attorney that cares for the people and exemplifies how revenge stems from loneliness. Woo Do Hwan stars as the charming attorney Kang Han Soo, while Bona plays the caring Princess Lee Yeon Joo.

 

In the newly released stills, Kang Han Soo and Dong Chi (Lee Kyu Sung) exude their bright energy with pleasant expressions. In one of the images, the two hold their hands high and make exaggerated expressions in order to threaten the opponent.

 

 

In the image below, the two wear cloaks and hats made out of straws as if they are disguising themselves. The similar expressions and gestures of Kang Han Soo and Dong Chi suggest that the two are close friends.

The newly released stills capture the many faces of Kang Han Soo, raising anticipation for the thrilling story to come. Ahead of the drama’s premiere, Woo Do Hwan dished on his reasons for choosing to star in the drama. He shared, “The script was so interesting that I didn’t think too much about it. The most charming aspect is that there is no boring character.”

 

 

On his character Kang Han Soo, Woo Do Hwan shared, “He is light but has depth, and he is a genius who is like a fool. He has a mysterious charm that is difficult to understand. There were a lot of lines. Since it is a sageuk (historical drama) about law, there are a lot of unfamiliar expressions, so I’m working hard so that the viewers can understand it well.”

WJSN’s Bona has candidly shared her thoughts on her character in the upcoming drama “Joseon Attorney”!

 

“Joseon Attorney” (literal translation) will star Woo Do Hwan as an oejibu (an attorney in the Joseon dynasty) who seeks to avenge the death of his parents through a trial. In his journey towards righteous revenge, Kang Han Soo (Woo Do Hwan) grows as a human being and becomes a true attorney who protects and stands for the people.

 

WJSN’s Bona takes on the role of Lee Yeon Joo, a confident, lively, and idealistic princess who seeks to avenge her father using the law. After her father King Seon passed away, Lee Yeon Joo hides her identity and lives under the name of So Won and approaches Kang Han Soo in her quest for vengeance.

 

In a recent interview, Bona defined her character Lee Yeon Joo as “a person who wants to protect Joseon and its people more than anyone else,” and shared, “I’m receiving a lot of good energy by playing such a righteous, energetic, and bright character.”

 

 

Picking the words “justice,” “by the book,” and “love” as fundamental keywords for her character, Bona explained, “[Lee Yeon Joo] is a character who is willing to take any risks to fight for justice while at the same time wants to do so in the most honest way. She is someone who has a lot of love for those around her and the people of her country.”

 

On challenging herself through her first historical drama, Bona remarked, “Historical dramas have been a genre that I have long wanted to try. I also had faith in the director, whom I worked with previously in ‘Twenty Five, Twenty One.'”

“Joseon Attorney” (literal translation) tells the story of an oejibu (attorney in Joseon Dynasty) who takes revenge on an enemy that caused the death of his parents. Although the premise is all about revenge, the series will follow the protagonist as he grows a heart for his clients and molds into an attorney for the people. Woo Do Hwan stars as the charming attorney Kang Han Soo, while WJSN’s Bona plays the caring Princess Lee Yeon Joo.

In the newly released stills, Lee Yeon Joo launches her own revenge for the people with her trusty governess Lady Hong (Shin Dong Mi). The two of them are always seen together, executing a very intricate revenge mission that involves a multitude of interesting incidents.

For one, Lee Yeon Joo opens up Sowongak, providing food, shelter, and low-interest loans to those passing through the port. Hiding her true identity of being a princess, she acts as Hong’s attendant and mingles with the people. This is all part of the plan, but viewers will have to wait and see what exactly the plan entails.

 

Lady Hong upholds her part of the plan by doing all she can to assist Lee Yeon Joo. Beyond the palace walls, this involves her acting as the owner of Sowongak. Inside the palace, she does everything in her power as a court lady. Lady Hong swears that she is willing to give up her life for Lee Yeon Joo. It will be interesting to see to what lengths she will have to go to keep her word, even if it is not literally.

Describing the appeal of leading man Woo Do Hwan, “Joseon Attorney” director Kim Seung Ho remarked, “He has a powerful, charming gaze and a humorous wit that allows him to pull off a wide variety of genres. He’s an actor who has it all.”

 

 

Notably, “Joseon Attorney” will mark director Kim Seung Ho’s reunion with Bona, who previously worked with him on the hit drama “Twenty Five, Twenty One.”
