Plot

 

"Death's Game" will narrate the story of  Choi Yijae who chooses to take his own life. Death punishes him with a game wherein he has to experience death repeatedly through 13 lives. He can only live a lifetime if he finds a way to survive the destined death for each life.

Seo In Guk and Park So Dam may star in a new drama together!

On January 12, a media outlet reported that Seo In Guk and Park So Dam will be starring in the new drama “Death’s Game” (working title). In response to the report, the agencies of each actor shared that they have been offered roles in the drama and are currently reviewing them positively.

“Death’s Game” is a drama that is made based on the popular webtoon of the same name which tells the story of a person who starts a new life with death. Previously, Kang Ha Neul was in talks for the main character role Choi Yi Jae, but negotiations for his casting fell through.

Seo In Guk previously starred in KBS2’s “Café Minamdang” which ended in August 2022 and greeted viewers through the big screen with “Project Wolf Hunt” which was released in September of the same year.

Park So Dam, who underwent papillary cancer surgery in December 2021 and announced her recovery in February 2022, is gearing up for the release of her upcoming film “Ghost” on January 18. Stay tuned for more updates!

South Korean actress Go Yoon Jung might star along with Seo In Guk and Park So Dam currently, in talks, to star in new webtoon based drama Death’s Game (working title). According to Korean tabloid Soompi, Death’s Game is a drama that is made based on the popular webtoon of the same name which tells the story of a person who starts a new life with death.

On January 31, Go Yoon Jung’s agency responded to her casting reports by clarifying, “She is currently in talks [for the drama].” Earlier, Café Minamdang actor Seo In Guk and Parasite’s Park So Dam were also confirmed to be in talks for the leading roles in the webtoon based drama.

 

Meanwhile on the work front, Go Yoon Jung is freshly coming off her hit tvN and Netflix drama Alchemy of Souls and Alchemy of Souls 2. She made her debut in 2019 drama He Is Psychometric and has since worked in dramas like Sweet Home, Law School, Rookie Cops and 2022 film Hunt among others.

On the other hand, Seo In Guk is known for dramas such as Shopping King Louie, The Smile Has Left Your Eyes, Doom At Your Service and recently Café Minamdang. Park So Dam's work credits include Cinderella with Four Knights Record of Youth, A Beautiful Mind and more.

She received global recognition for her role in the 2019 critically acclaimed comedy thriller film Parasite, which also won an Oscar. The actress, who underwent papillary cancer surgery in December 2021, is gearing up for the release of her upcoming film Ghost on January 18.

On January 31, it was reported that Alchemy of Souls’ Go Yoon-jung might star in the upcoming fantasy drama Death’s Game.

Her agency, MAA Entertainment, commented that she is currently in talks for the upcoming show and is reviewing the offer:

Death’s Game is based on a webtoon of the same name and revolves around an unemployed person who has lost all his savings to a bitcoin scam. When he decides to end his life, and 'Death' embarks on a journey to punish him by giving him thirteen chances to live.

Earlier in January, Seo In-guk and Park So-dam were reported to star as leads in the upcoming drama.

 

If Go Yoon-jung accepts the casting offer, she will reportedly play the role of Jung Ji-soo, as reported by an industry insider to a Korean media outlet. She will be seen relating to the main character, Choi Yi-jae, if the drama follows the plot of the webtoon. Not many details have been revealed about Yoon-jung's character yet.

On February 2, it was reported that Lee Jae Wook, Super Junior’s Choi Siwon, Jang Seung Jo, and Sung Hoon will be appearing in the upcoming drama “Death’s Game” (working title), which Seo In Guk, Park So Dam, and Go Yoon Jung were revealed to be in talks for.

In response to the report, a source from Lee Jae Wook’s agency C-JeS Entertainment stated, “[Lee Jae Wook] has received an offer to make a special appearance in ‘Death’s Game,’ and he is reviewing the offer.”

Similarly, representatives from the agencies of Choi Siwon, Jang Seung Jo, and Sung Hoon have also shared that all three actors are positively considering their offers to appear in “Death’s Game.” Kim Jae Wook is also reported to join the drama, although his agency has yet to make a statement.

Based on the hit webtoon of the same name, “Death’s Game” tells the story of a man who gets more than one second chance at life after facing death. Go Youn Jung will reportedly join the upcoming K-drama "Death's Game."

On January 31, media outlet News1 shared that trending actress Go Youn Jung will be part of the upcoming JTBC series "Death's Game." According to reports, she will be working alongside Seo In Guk and Park So Dam who are also in talks to lead the K-drama. 

Go Youn Jung's agency MMA Entertainment responded to the casting reports. According to the agency, Go Youn Jung did receive the offer and she is positively considering the casting offer.

On February 2, media outlets reported that Jang Seung Jo, Choi Si Won, and Sung Hoon will be joining Seo In Guk, Park So Dam, and Go Youn Jung in the upcoming JTBC K-drama "Death's Game." It was also reported that Lee Jae Wook will be making a special appearance in the series. 

All the agencies of the actors responded to the casting reports. Jang Seung Jo's side revealed that the actor is positively considering joining the K-drama. Stallion Entertainment's side stated that Sung Hoon is also positively reviewing the series. SM Entertainment also responded to the reports and stated that the idol actor is also reviewing the offer positively.

At first I thought  it has similarities to Kento Yamazaki's drama Kiss that Kills.. but only constant death and being alive of the character is simlar. But 7 episodes only.. with that many actors.. feels too short though.. but we'll see.

According to sources, the upcoming K-drama Death's Game has commenced filming. The script reading for the K-drama was conducted on February 14, and the filming was set in motion on the 20th. 

Death's Game is a fantasy melodrama that revolves around the life of Choi Yi Jae, an unfortunate and unemployed man who only has an empty bank account and a failed relationship. Giving up hope to further live, he decides to commit suicide. But, things don't go his way when he wakes up alive and is given extra chances at life by an otherworldly entity Death, who sentences Yi Jae to 13 lives. 

The upcoming drama has a star-studded cast that consists of Doom at Your Service actor Seo In Guk as Choi Yi Jae, Record of Youth actress Park So Dam as the powerful other-worldly entity Death, and Alchemy of Souls Season 2: Light and Shadow actress Go Youn Jung as Jung Ji Soo.

After successfully starring in the Netflix original K-drama The Glory Part 2, another project is in the works for Lee Do Hyun. 

On March 16, Lee Do Hyun's agency Yuehua Entertainment shared that the trending actor is positively considering making a special appearance in the upcoming JTBC and TVING K-drama Death's Game. According to reports, Lee Do Hyun will grace his presence in the upcoming series to support 18 Again director Ha Byung Hoon. 

Death's Game will revolve around Cho Yi Jae who decided to take his life because of all the circumstances he's in. In response to his attitude towards dying, death came to punish with her game. Cho Yi Jae must repeatedly die through 13 previous lives and if he finds a way to escape death, he can live an eternal life. It is based from a webtoon of the same name written by Lee Won Sik and illustrated by Gul-chan.

The upcoming K-drama will be led by Seo In Guk, Park So Dam, Go Youn Jung, Kim Ji Hoon, and more. Aside from Lee Do Hyun, actors Kim Jae Wook, Jang Seung Jo, Super Junior's Choi Si Won, Sung Hoon, and Lee Jae Wook will also make a special appearance in the K-drama.

The netizen claimed to have been unaware of the drama filming because the shooting site was far away and covered by a sculpture.

It was later revealed that the staff member in question was working on the site of Seo In Guk and Park So Dam’s upcoming drama “Death’s Game.”

 

On May 15, the production team responded to the claim with the following statement:

This is the production team of “Death’s Game.”

We have confirmed that last week, there was inappropriate behavior by an assistant staff hired for the day to help organize and guide the filming location.

We sincerely apologize for causing discomfort and not being more careful during the production process.

Going forward, we’ll do a better job of managing the site to make sure such unpleasant incident doesn’t happen again.

Based on a popular webtoon, “Death’s Game” tells the story of a man who gets more than one second chance at life after facing death. The drama is set to premiere in the second half of the year.
