larus
Kim Kang Hoon Proves his Acting Prowess Playing a Victim of School Bullying in "Death's Game" by Lily Alice, December 7, 2023 7 3 The child actor Kim Kang Hoon plays the victim of school bullying in Death's Game. In the upcoming fantasy thriller, Kim Kang Hoon takes on the role of 17-year-old high school student Kwon Hyeok Soo. He becomes a target of the school bullies due to his short stature than his peers and his cautious demeanor. While his teachers and classmates remain indifferent, he endures torment from the bullies, living each day in hellish circumstances, which eventually leads him to make a dangerous decision. Meanwhile, as Choi Yi Jae (Seo In Guk) enters Kwon Hyeok Soo's body, the trajectory of his distressing life begins to shift. The stills unveil the power dynamics in Kwon Hyeok Soo's school, where he grapples with brutal bullying everywhere, from classrooms to gymnasiums. His fierce gaze directed at others is juxtaposed with an undercurrent of hesitation, which fuels his bitterness. On the other hand, glimpses of a different aspect of Kwon Hyeok Soo as he walks through the school corridors captivate attention. His face, devoid of emotion, seems to mirror the 31-year-old job-seeker Choi Yi Jae, exhausted by reality. The stark contrast between the expressions and gazes of the 17-year-old high school student Kwon Hyeok Soo and the 31-year-old job-seeker Choi Yi Jae is a testament to the young actor's talent. The production team of Death's Game praised Kim Kang Hoon's ability to immerse himself completely in a role, expressing admiration for his talent and versatility. They emphasized his capacity to handle both emotional depth and action performance, urging viewers to pay close attention to his performance. Death's Game will premiere on December 15. larus
"Death's Game" Stars Open up About Their Experiences at K-Drama's Press Conference by Lily Alice, December 13, 2023 16 2 Death's Game stars line up at the K-drama's press conference. The upcoming TVING original series, Death's Game, is the story of Choi Yi Jae (Seo In Guk), a perennially unemployed man struggling in all spheres of life. He goes through the cycle of life and death 12 times as a punishment from Death (Park So Dam) after he takes his own life. On the morning of December 13, the press conference for Death's Game was held in Seoul, which was attended by director Ha Byung Hoon, and actors Seo In Guk, Park So Dam, Kim Ji Hoon, Choi Si Won, Sung Hoon, Kim Kang Hoon, Jang Seung Jo, Lee Jae Wook, Go Youn Jung, Kim Jae Wook, and Kim Mi Kyung. The K-drama has sent fans into a frenzy by gathering so many stars in one frame. Bringing the actors together for the drama wasn't an easy feat, as director Ha Byung Hoon mentioned, "Every time we cast someone while working on the script, I thought about who would fit well, and undergo a transformation in acting." The actors created different personas based on the character Choi Yi Jae. Balancing synchronization with Seo In Guk's portrayal of Yi Jae while maintaining their unique charms was a challenging task. Actor Seo In Guk expressed, "I feel the pressure in every work and playing every character. Particularly in this work, many actors portrayed Choi Yi Jae's thoughts. I portrayed Choi Yi Jae first, so I grasped the character." He further added, "In the post-production stage, I saw everyone put in their best efforts and did a great job. This is a character who experiences life and death 12 times, but before that, he is a character who had given up on his life. Along the way, he has desires and hopes and faces death in frustration. It was difficult to express such complex emotions, but I had fun filming." Actress Park So Dam commented about her character, stating, "The [entity of] Death I portray is not human, yet connected to Yi Jae. While she empathizes with Yi Jae's emotions, she doesn't react immediately because she's not human." Park So Dam was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer in December 2021 and underwent surgery. In February of the following year, she announced her complete recovery. Spoiler Regarding her health, Park So Dam stated, "I think it has caused a lot of concern. Honestly, there were difficult moments during the recovery process. Those who have experienced similar pain would know. There were times when my emotional state or physical condition seemed really fine, but then [other times, they] worsened, and my voice didn't return to its original state. Many people helped me, and because it's something I want to do and love, I was able to gather the courage and wanted to do better." Choi Si Won commented, "I had to consider other actors' performances as well. It was a mixed and new experience. The director gave detailed directions, which helped me navigate through well." Spoiler Kim Jae Wook added, "While it's important [for each actor] to build and express their respective characters, but, when reincarnating as Yi Jae, I had concerns about the Yi Jae's essence. I was most concerned about whether I could be seen as a character who has Yi Jae in him." Spoiler Kim Ji Hoon remarked, " [A lot of] content is pouring out. In this flood of content, your time is precious. I hope you can have a worthwhile time by watching a significant drama like Death's Game."
