Lee Yeon Hee, Hong Jong Hyun, Moon So Ri, and TVXQ’s Yunho may be starring in a new drama together!

Earlier on May 16, OSEN reported that Lee Yeon Hee and Hong Jong Hyun are positively reviewing the offer to star in “Race” (literal title) by screenwriter Kim Ru Ri of “Hyena.” On May 23, YTN star also reported that Moon So Ri received an offer for the drama as well. At the time, a source from Moon So Ri’s agency C-JeS Entertainment stated, “She has received an offer for the role, and she is positively reviewing the offer.”

On June 2, Sports Chosun reported that Yunho will be joining the cast of “Race” as one of the main leads. In response to the report, a source from SM Entertainment stated, “Yunho received an offer to star as the role of Seo Dong Hoon in the drama ‘Race.’ He is positively reviewing the offer.”

“Race” is a drama that captures life’s race in this rapidly changing digital age that we are living in. The drama centers around the office life and romance story of Park Yoon Jo, a woman born in 1990 who faces life head-on despite not having anything to show in terms of academic or family background, and Ryu Jae Min, a man born in 1990 who wants to make a just and good world but has no expectations for his company to do so. Lee Yeon Hee is reportedly in talks to play the role of marketer Park Yoon Jo, while Hong Jong Hyun is reportedly in talks to play Ryu Jae Min.

Moon So Ri, who previously captivated viewers in “On the Verge of Insanity,” is in talks to play Goo Yi Jung, a PR specialist and a former journalist from an influential media outlet who reached the top of her career as a PR expert in Korea and in the United States. She is an expert in communications and management strategy who provides consulting for the overall management strategy of a company. Goo Yi Jung is level-headed because she considers all things as a means to achieve her goals, but she is also rational in the sense that she does not simply judge a person by their background.

Yunho is in talks to play Seo Dong Hoon, the CEO of the public relations agency Earth Communications. Seo Dong Hoon was born in the United States, attended middle and high school in Korea, and graduated college with a design major at the New York Arts School. He worked for a design company in the United States, and after getting his MBA at a business school, he started working in public relations and eventually climbed his way up from the head of a department and team leader position to the CEO position. Seo Dong Hoon understands the fast-paced environment of public relations, and due to spending a lot of time abroad, he values expressing ideas freely. He is the ideal public relations person with a flexible mindset that compromises with the limits of reality. Furthermore, Seo Dong Hoon will be a part of a love triangle with Park Yoon Jo and Ryu Jae Min, and he will also showcase chemistry with Goo Yi Jung.

If Yunho accepts the role, this will be his first time starring in a drama in five years since “Melo Holic.” Previously, he also impressed in “King of Ambition,” “I Order You,” “Diary of a Night Watchman,” and more.

Lee Yeon-hee in new Disney+ workplace melo Race

by Jenzy

29O6ODBETN_1.jpg

Lee Yeon-hee (Welcome to Wedding Hell) returns to dramaland with a trendy bob and a can do attitude in Disney+’s new workplace drama Race.

She plays the character Park Yoon-joo, a bright worker who has passion in spades but no real job-landing specs. To quote Jane Austen, she’s got no money, no prospects; she’s already a burden to her parents, and she’s frightened. Things take a turn for the better when she lands a contract marketing job at large firm, but that too is short lived when she finds herself in the middle of a companywide recruiting scandal where her hiring is brought into question.

Yoon-joo isn’t the type to take adversity lying down though, and she’ll do whatever it takes to prove herself to her company peers. Those peers include the ace work-hard-play-hard employee Ryu Jae-min, played by Hong Jong-hyun (Stock Struck); the industry PR expert Koo Yi-jung, played by Moon So-ri (Queenmaker); and the young idealist CEO Seo Dong-hoon, played by Yunho (Meloholic).

Despite not looking (or sounding?) like it just yet, it seems Race plans to go the slice-of-life route with its story, so we’ll see how this foursome manages to balance their careers, dreams, and personal lives amidst the chaos of their 9-5. The casting is interesting, but it’s the talent behind the camera that’s piqued my interest the most.

Written by Kim Ru-ri (Hyena) and directed by Lee Dong-yoon (Sunbae, Don’t Put on that Lipstick), 12-episode drama Race will premiere on May 10.

In an underdog story about personal growth, the drama sets off with our heroine Park Yoon-jo (Lee Yeon-hee) starting a new corporate job. With no special credentials to her name, though, suspicion arises about her hiring circumstances. But Yoon-jo decides to take it on the chin and is determined to prove her worth.

On the plus side, Yoon-jo is now working at the same company as her good friend Ryu Jae-min (Hong Jong-hyun). She’s also about to meet her career role model Gu Yi-jung (Moon Sori) and the young CEO Seo Dong-hoon (Yunho) who is striving to be an understanding boss.

The new teaser begins with what looks like company promo material about stretching, while a man remarks in voiceover that kids these days have a different mindset and that their jobs aren’t everything to them. The reality, of course, is not so simple and we cut to our two friends bantering over texts, while taking a quick break. Jae-min nags that, “Weekends are for resting,” and Yoon-jo retorts that he’s working too. But Jae-min wins the argument with his next reply: “I don’t have a choice and you do. That’s a big difference.”

Later in the evening, Jae-min asks why Yoon-jo works so hard and she explains, “I want to do well and be recognized. It’s what makes work more fun and exciting.” The appearing captions introduce her with the hashtags, “Zero Credentials” and “Boundless Passion.” Yoon-jo wistfully admits, though, that people should live like Jae-min does and the captions give him the hashtags of “Work Life Balance” and “Corporate Ace.”

Over dinner, Jae-min asks his colleague, “Hyung, why do you work in PR?” But Hyung gives the realistic answer that it pays the bills. We then cut to Yi-jung arriving at the office, who doesn’t shy from calling the PR team a mess. The captions label her as “Role Model” and “PR Specialist.” In contrast, Dong-hoon ponders how to make employees take pride in their work and his hashtags indicate “Communication Genius” and “Young CEO.”

As the sequence continues, we see Dong-hoon personally recruiting Yoon-jo for the job and the intermittent text screens announce that, “The Race of life is starting now.” We then return to our heroine on her first day of work and the teaser closes as she introduces herself to the team.

Directed by PD Lee Dong-yoon (Sunbae, Don’t Put on that Lipstick) with scripts by Kim Ru-ri (Hyena), Disney+’s Race will be launching on May 10.

TVXQ’s Yunho Transforms Into A Young And Talented CEO In Upcoming Office Drama “Race”

Apr 19, 2023
by S. Kim

Disney+ original series “Race” has unveiled new stills of TVXQ’s Yunho!

“Race” follows the story of Park Yoon Jo (Lee Yeon Hee), who doesn’t have many qualifications or connections but gets employed because of her passion. The office drama will capture the chaos that ensues when Park Yoon Jo gets tangled in a recruitment scandal and must fight to survive and keep her job.

Yunho transforms into young CEO Seo Dong Hoon who is very talented and skillful in various areas including public relations planning, design, as well as presentations, easily convincing his clients. Despite his young age as the CEO of a public relations agency, he manages the company with a flexible and non-authoritative way of thinking, using the communication skills that he attained through his longtime experience living abroad.

In the newly released stills, Seo Dong Hoon showcases various appearances as an ideal CEO. In the first image, Dong Hoon stares at the monitor screen with a serious expression while handling his work at his CEO desk.

Character posters and personality types for Disney+’s Race

by missvictrix

Disney+ is busily promoting their next drama Race — an office slice-of-life starring Lee Yeon-hee (Welcome to Wedding Hell), Hong Jong-hyun (Stock Struck), Moon Sori (Queenmaker), and Yunho (Meloholic).

After a group poster and a teaser, we now have character posters, which are often my favorite part of a promo cycle — because characters are at every story’s heart, and the attention dramas pay them always makes me happy.

First up is our heroine Park Yoon-jo (Lee Yeon-hee) — a rookie at the office who has no specs or special talents to recommend her. So instead, she buckles up and decides to prove her worth, but this becomes hard when she finds herself in the middle of a company hiring scandal. Her poster tagline reads, “I want to do well and be recognized” and her MBTI is listed as ESTJ, showcasing her passion and determination despite her lack of credentials.

Next is her friend and now-coworker Ryu Jae-min (Hong Jong-hyun), who is known as the company ace — but his tagline reads, “Work-life balance is important.” Truth. In the previous teaser we saw their cute banter, and I’m all about Hong Jong-hyun here in his ISFP character. (Banking future swoons.)

At the office Yoon-joo also meets Gu Yi-jung (Moon Sori), who becomes her role model. Her INTJ character tagline reads that she’s the one responsible for everything — the pioneering strategist.

Last but not least is the young company CEO Seo Dong-hoon (Yunho) whose ENFP personality suggests he’s open-minded and honest. His tagline states that a company can’t exist unless the employees are happy.

I like all of these characters already, and it’s not just because of the cool blue tones and the pop of confetti — the focus on the characters’ motivations and mindsets seems like good footing for a workplace drama such as this. Plus, the PD’s last projects were Sunbae, Don’t Put on that Lipstick and 20th Century Boy and Girl — both of which had a really nice warmth to them, and strong settings.

Directed by PD Lee Dong-yoon with scripts by Kim Ru-ri (Hyena), the 12-episode drama Race premieres on May 10.
