Coffee cups and murder in a Happiness Battle with Lee El

by tccolb

The first poster has arrived for ENA’s upcoming suspense-thriller, titled Happiness Battle, which stars a charismatic ensemble including Lee El (My Liberation Notes), Jin Seo-yeon (One the Woman), Cha Ye-ryun (Gold Mask), Park Hyo-joo (Now We Are Breaking Up), and Woo Jung-won (Under the Queen’s Umbrella).

Adapted from a novel by the same title, the story has our five playing a group of friends, who are also fellow moms. But beneath the surface, there is division among the group, fueled by jealousy and fierce competition. For each of the women, it boils down to who lives the “happier” life and striving to secure that happiness, even if means stepping on others in the process.

Initially, their battle had manifested through each person’s show-and-tell on social media. But things take a very serious turn when one of their group suddenly dies under mysterious circumstances. A bigger war thus unfolds as one among the group wants to discover the truth, while another seeks to hide it.

The new poster leans into the murder mystery aspect of the story, asking the question of whodunit in the tagline. With their faces concealed, it’s hard to tell yet who is who. But there are little clues suggested by the styling of their hands and arms, as well as in their coffee and phones.

Production for the drama is being led by PD Kim Yoon-chul (The Witch Is Alive, Woman of Dignity) with scripts penned by the original author Joo Young-ha. ENA’s Happiness Battle is slated to premiere next month on May 31, in the Wednesday-Thursday slot.

The upcoming K-drama Happiness Battle, directed by Kim Yoon Cheol and written by Ju Young Ha, is a gripping suspense thriller that follows the story of mothers from rich families fighting a fierce social media battle to destroy others' happiness in pursuit of their own.

On May 1, the first teaser for Happiness Battle was released. It features Jin Seo Yun as Song Jung Ah, Cha Ye Ryun as Kim Na Young, and Park Hyo Joo as Oh Yu Jin, all dressed up glamorously and taking selfies at their get-together. The teaser then shows their social media accounts, where photos of the three having a great time together, with the hashtag "#Mom's_party, #With_my_people" is uploaded. As the number of likes on the photo increases, their laughter becomes louder, and the friends make a toast.

However, the mood suddenly turns tense when a coffee cup breaks and the scene transitions to Lee El (playing the role of Jang Mi Ho), who is looking at their SNS with a serious expression. Lee El's character faces the camera with a grave expression and asks, "Who could have killed her?" This raises the question of what Lee El saw on SNS that shocked her and what happened to the seemingly happy Jin Seo Yun, Cha Ye Ryun, and Park Hyo Joo. Viewers are left in suspense to eagerly anticipate the release of the upcoming mystery thriller.

The drama will air every Wednesday and Thursday starting from May 31, as a follow-up drama to Bo Ra! Deborah.

'Happy Battle' Lee El, transformed into a bank clerk... Capturing a dull expression

Happy Battle’ What changes will come to the life of an ordinary bank teller, Lee El.

ENA's new Wednesday-Thursday drama 'Happiness Battle' (Screenplay Joo Young-ha, Director Kim Yun-cheol) is a suspense thriller depicting the fight between one of the mothers who fiercely competed for happiness on social media, and one who is trying to hide a secret and one who wants to reveal it. . It is expected to be a drama that considers 'true happiness' based on the happiness exhibition on social media that any modern person can relate to.

Among them, her interest in Lee El, who is returning to the home theater after about a year with ‘Happiness Battle’, is hot. Lee El took on the role of Jang Mi-ho, an outsider who entered the mothers' world to uncover the truth after the mothers' 'happy battle' on social media. Jang Mi-ho is a manager of the marketing team at a bank with a reasonable personality, and is a person who quietly lives her own life without caring about others' eyes.

While Lee El's delicate expressiveness, which will portray the changes that have come to Jang Mi-ho's life with only her eyes and facial expressions, is raising expectations, interest in the new face she will show through 'Battle of Happiness' is rising as she has renewed her life skills with her unique character digestibility in each work.

Happiness Battle disguises truth on social media

by tccolb

rNRB5D_2f.png

A new video teaser has dropped for ENA’s new suspense-thriller Happiness Battle, featuring our lady leads Lee El (My Liberation Notes), Jin Seo-yeon (One the Woman), Cha Ye-ryun (Gold Mask), and Park Hyo-joo (Now We Are Breaking Up).

Jumping straight into the social media war that pits friend against friend in our story, the new teaser begins with Song Jung-ah (Jin Seo-yeon), Kim Na-young (Cha Ye-ryun), and Oh Yoo-jin (Park Hyo-joo) at a small get-together, dressed to the nines and clinking glasses over their well-decorated table.

Grinning big for the camera with signature poses, the chosen photos are then posted on Instagram – along with shots of their food and decor, of course. Hashtag, “party for moms” and “my people.” But as we watch the “likes” fly in, a coffee cup suddenly drops from the table and shatters onto the floor.

From elsewhere, Jang Mi-ho (Lee El) scrolls through the feed of photos, showcasing the oh-so-happy lives of our characters and we get a quick peek at Yoo-jin’s husband Lee Kyu-han (May I Help You). But what the photos don’t reveal is that one of the moms in their friend group mysteriously died and there’s a division between those who want to conceal the truth and those who want to uncover it.

As Mi-ho continues browsing Instagram, the teaser comes to a close as she discovers something shocking. Looking up at the camera, the appearing hashtags repeat Mi-ho’s question, asking, “Who killed her?”

Directed by PD Kim Yoon-chul (The Witch Is Alive, Woman of Dignity) with scripts by the original novel author Joo Young-ha, ENA’s Happiness Battle premieres on May 31.

Lee El Is Mysteriously Pit Against Jin Seo Yeon, Cha Ye Ryun, And More In Posters For Upcoming Thriller Drama

20230515182816_Happiness-Battle-3.jpg?s=

May 15, 2023
by S. Cho

“Happiness Battle” has released new main posters and dropped a behind-the-scenes look at the cast’s poster shoot!

ENA’s “Happiness Battle” (literal title) is a suspense thriller about a group of mothers who compete fiercely for happiness on social media. After one of them dies under mysterious circumstances, a battle ensues between those who want to hide the secret and those who want to reveal it. The fierce psychological warfare centered on social media, which is inseparable from modern society, and the suspense it creates are expected to provide viewers with the utmost fun.

In the drama, Lee El stars as Jang Mi Ho, Jin Seo Yeon as Song Jung Ah, Cha Ye Ryun as Kim Na Young, Park Hyo Joo as Oh Yoo Jin, and Woo Jung Won as Hwang Ji Ye.

The first poster captures the five ladies in a straight line, led by Jang Mi Ho. Wearing an all-white outfit, Jang Mi Ho looks out of place as the other four characters wear all black and coldly look off in different directions. At the top of the poster it reads, “The war of women trying to protect their happiness.”

Happiness-Battle-2.jpg

In the second poster, Jang Mi Ho stands by herself with her arms crossed, looking directly ahead. The four ladies are huddled up behind her, seemingly sharing their opinions about Jang Mi Ho. This poster states, “The woman died for someone’s happiness.”

Happiness-Battle-1.jpg

Along with the posters, “Happiness Battle” dropped a making-of clip from the cast’s poster shoot. In the clip, Lee El explains of her character, “She unintentionally gets tangled up in a case and a lot of situations that are far removed from reality end up happening, making you think these things could really happen. I hope you will watch those aspects enjoyably.”

Jin Seo Yeon shares, “What I think will become a big issue is how one raises their children and with what attitudes those mothers are living. You can look at this as a project that focuses more on these women’s lives.”

On her character, Cha Ye Ryun comments, “Na Young is a character who wants to receive love and is soft on the inside, but appears cold, lovable, and also pitiful from the outside.”

Park Hyo Joo explains, “[Oh Yoo Jin is] a character who has a secretive key to the case. If you follow the cases while relating to the characters’ stories, I believe you will be able to watch enjoyably.”

Woo Jung Won adds, “I believe viewers will be able to watch enjoyably if they watch while guessing whether [Hwang Ji Ye] will be of help to main character Mi Ho in solving the case, or act as a trap as the drama’s core case unfolds.”

Unlike the serious tone of the posters, the five actresses laugh happily in between shoots before immersing into their roles in an instant. Following the shoot, all five stars gather to monitor the shots, showcasing their close teamwork.

ENA's new Wednesday-Thursday drama Happiness Battle (directed by Kim Yoon Cheol, written by Ju Young Ha, and produced by KT Studio Genie and HB Entertainment) is set to premiere on May 31 at 9 PM.

Happiness Battle is a suspense thriller that revolves around the fight between mothers competing for happiness on social media, where one dies under mysterious circumstances, and the struggle between those trying to conceal the secret and those seeking to reveal it. With a top-notch production team and trusted actors, it promises the birth of a well-made thriller.

In the midst of this, on May 15, the main poster for Happiness Battle and the behind-the-scenes making of the poster were revealed, drawing attention to the strong aura of the five women: Jang Mi Ho (played by Lee El), Song Jung Ah (played by Jin Seo Yun), Kim Na Young (played by Cha Ye Ryun), Oh Yu Jin (played by Park Hyo Joo), and Hwang Ji Ye (played by Woo Jeong Won).

First, the poster where the five women stand side by side, led by Lee El, catches the eye. While Jin Seo Yun, Cha Ye Ryun, Park Hyo Joo, and Woo Jeong Won are all dressed in black, Lee El stands alone in white, creating an eerie atmosphere. Furthermore, the intense gazes of the four women in black exude an indescribable chill. Along with the caption 'The war of these women to protect happiness,' the poster hints at the fierce battle that will unfold among them.

In another poster, Lee El stands in front with her arms crossed, while Jin Seo Yun, Cha Ye Ryun, Park Hyo Joo, and Woo Jeong Won gather behind, looking at Lee El. Jin Seo Yun's intense gaze and the exchange of opinions between Cha Ye Ryun, Park Hyo Joo, and Woo Jeong Won imply their opposition towards Lee El. The caption 'She died for someone's happiness' amplifies curiosity by revealing that the end of the war to protect happiness leads to someone's death.

On the same day, the behind-the-scenes making of the poster was released, capturing a completely different scene of the actors in a lively atmosphere. Lee El, Jin Seo Yun, Cha Ye Ryun, Park Hyo Joo, and Woo Jeong Won are seen laughing and conversing, but as soon as the shooting starts, they swiftly immerse themselves in the concept, displaying astonishing acting skills. After the shoot, they gather around the monitor, showcasing a strong teamwork bond. Anticipation rises to see what kind of synergy their special acting chemistry will bring to the drama.

Still cuts

Broadcast on May 31.

The four-color family of Jin Seo-yeon, Cha Ye-ryun, Park Hyo-joo, and Woo Jeong-won was revealed.

news-p.v1.20230517.e233d00376224c62baa8b

ENA's new Wednesday-Thursday drama 'Happiness Battle', which will be broadcast for the first time on the 31st, is a work depicting the battle between one who is trying to hide her secret and another who is trying to reveal her secret after one of the mothers who competed for happiness on SNS dies amidst questions.

Mothers who live in apartments with the highest ransom in Gangnam and send their children to English kindergartens costing millions of won a month are the main characters in a 'happy battle'. In the midst of this, on the 17th, the 'Happy Battle' side introduced four families living in a high-end apartment complex, High Prestige, at the center of the war.

▼ Jin Seo-yeon (Song Jeong-ah) “Song Jeong-ah, the head of the family full of ambition”

First of all, Song Jeong-ah (Jin Seo-yeon), who is the number one English kindergarten heritage mother, is the founder and CEO of ‘Inner Spirit’, a beauty functional food company. She worked tirelessly to grow her business, which was like a small hole-in-the-wall shop, into a prosperous corporation. She lives with her young husband Jeong Su-bin (Lee Jee-yeon) and her son Min-seong (Kim Ha-eon), and is the breadwinner who has to take care of her three immature younger brothers.

As such, Song Jeong-ah entered her high-prestige apartment through her own efforts, and she is a person who is constantly struggling to keep this position. Jin Seo-yeon described Song Jeong-ah as “a person full of ambition who lives very hard while taking care of her husband and children as the head of the family.” Attention is drawn to what Song Jeong-ah, who must be the best in her place of residence and her children's education, will do for her own happiness.

▼ Cha Ye-ryun (Kim Na-young) “Kim Na-young, who is even obsessive, is a demonic character that cannot be easily hated”
Kim Na-young (Cha Ye-ryun), who was born into a land-rich and building-rich family, married her lawyer husband Lee Tae-ho (Kim Young-hoon) at an early age and also gave birth to her daughter A-rin (Han Seo-hee) at an early age. When she was young, she never went outside the strong fence of her father, and now her husband is the standard for all choices. Even on social media, she always mentions gifts her husband bought for her and praises her husband gave her.

Cha Ye-ryun describes Kim Na-yeong as “she likes to show off to others and longs for the love of her husband. She looks tough on the outside, but once you get to know her, she's soft on the inside, and in some ways she's pitiful and lovable," she said. She is a demonic character that cannot be easily hated,” she said, making us look forward to Kim Na-young’s charm.

▼ Park Hyo-joo (Oh Yu-jin) “A sample of happiness, Oh Yu-jin, the key to this drama”

Oh Yu-jin (Park Hyo-joo) is a full-time housewife with her husband Kang Do-joon (Lee Kyu-han), a kind and talented dentist, and daughters Ji-yul (Noh Ha-yeon) and Ha-yul (Heo-yul). She posted on her social media how she perfectly did everything from housekeeping to children's education, and she became a super mom who became an influencer in two years. She lives in a luxurious apartment and sends her children to an English kindergarten thanks to her gold spoon and her husband, who has a good job, but it is up to Oh Yu-jin to craft and display them more perfectly.

Park Hyo-joo said, “A wonderful dentist husband, two pretty daughters, and even Oh Yu-jin, who receives attention and love from many people while working as an influencer, is a sample of happiness.” She wants to have whatever she wants. In the play, she is also a character who promotes the happiness of mothers, so she thinks she is the most important key character in this drama,” adding to the curiosity.

▼ Woo Jeong-won (Hwang Ji-ye) “Hwang Ji-ye, an ‘ambitious country mouse’ who wants to pass on capital to her daughter”
Unlike Song Jung-ah, who became wealthy through her own abilities, Kim Na-yeong, whose parents were wealthy since her birth, and Oh Yu-jin, who became wealthy thanks to her husband and in-laws, Hwang Ji-ye (Woo Jeong-won) is a real estate tech. While she is envious of other mothers who enjoy her wealth without working, she is also proud of her professional abilities. She is a working mother who takes care of her daughter So-won (Kim Seo-ah) and lives alone in place of her husband, a bank clerk who is living in India as an expatriate.

Woo Jeong-won said, “Hwang Ji-ye is a woman who has her professional skills, likes achievements, and has been steadily shaping her life with it. She also loves her daughter very much. She wants to give her daughter a better environment than the one she grew up in as capital.”

The drama unfolds the life of wealthy mothers residing in the luxurious apartment complexes of Gangnam, indulging in the privileges of their social status.

Among them, Oh Yu Jin (Park Hyo Joo) stands out as a "supermom" who effortlessly manages her role as a devoted wife to a dentist husband and dotes on her beautiful twin daughters, fuelling the flames of envy within the mothers' SNS community.

On the other hand is Jang Mi Ho (Lee El), an ordinary bank employee leading a mundane life who soon finds herself entangled in the SNS battle as she strives to uncover its true nature.

While the viewers await the release of the drama, ENA unveiled new still cuts on May 18, giving a glimpse into the vastly contrasting lifestyles of Jang Mi Ho (Lee El) and Oh Yu Jin (Park Hyo Joo).

ENA's new Wednesday-Thursday drama Happiness Battle (directed by Kim Yoon Cheol, written by Ju Young Ha, planned by KT Studio Genie, and produced by HB Entertainment) is a suspense thriller that depicts the fight between a person trying to conceal secrets and another person trying to reveal the truth after one of the mothers who competed for happiness on social media dies under mysterious circumstances. The drama is set to premiere on May 31st at 9:00 p.m.

Until now, Happiness Battle has grabbed the attention of prospective viewers with its provocative questions, such as "Who killed her?" in the first teaser, and the second teaser showing mothers engaging in a battle for happiness until someone dies, highlighting the endless pursuit of happiness.

In the recently released main trailer on May 22nd, the focus is on Jang Mi Ho (played by Lee El) as she delves into the truth behind the murder case, intensifying curiosity. The video starts with the voices of women discussing the blood-soaked murder scene and the death of an SNS influencer. The subsequent scene shows Lee El's startled reaction as she looks at a captured cell phone, implying her involvement in the death.

The screen transitions quickly, revealing the suspicious behaviors of Song Jung Ah (played by Jin Seo Yun), Kim Na Young (played by Cha Ye Ryun), and Oh Yu Jin (played by Park Hyo Joo). They all live in the same apartment building and send their children to the same English kindergarten, and they are all famous influencers on SNS. Alongside this, Cha Ye Ryun's voice asking someone, "There's nothing I don't know about, right?" hints at something unsettling happening among them.

As the tension reaches its peak, the main trailer for Happiness Battle adds to the intrigue by foreshadowing the fierce battle between those who want to hide and those who want to reveal the truth, accompanied by the caption, "Will they conceal or reveal?" Finally, Lee El's voice asking the enigmatic person, "Are you scared someone might find out what you've done?" delivers a powerful impact, further amplifying anticipation for the premiere of Happiness Battle.
