Lee Moo Saeng, Hwang Bo Reum Byul, Kim Young Jae, And Park Ho San Join Lee Young Ae In Upcoming Drama

Lee Young Ae’s upcoming drama “Maestra” (literal title) has confirmed the casting of more stars!

tvN’s “Maestra” is based off a French work of the same name that depicts the hardships and growth journey of a female orchestra conductor who does her best to investigate the various mysteries that occur within the orchestra. While conductor Cha Se Eum is bold enough to live like there’s no tomorrow and in a position that many covet, a secret she hides from everyone causes her life to turn upside down.

Last November, Lee Young Ae’s agency confirmed that the actress would star in “Maestra” as Cha Se Eum. On May 4, tvN announced the casting of Lee Moo Saeng, Hwang Bo Reum Byul, Kim Young Jae, and Park Ho San.

Lee Young Ae’s character Cha Se Eum is a passionate former violinist and current orchestra conductor who is known all around the globe as a star in the world of classical music. With her bold and determined personality, Cha Se Eum is an on-stage leader who fascinates performers and audience members.

Lee Moo Saeng will star as investment tycoon Yoo Jung Jae, the chairman of UC Financial who has the impressive ability to see through others.

Hwang Bo Reum Byul has been cast as Lee Ru Na, a rookie member of the Han River Philharmonic Orchestra. Lee Ru Na is an innocently passionate character who works incredibly hard to prove her talent.

Kim Young Jae will portray Cha Se Eum’s husband Kim Pil. While he’s affectionate and thoughtful, a small part of him feels inferior to his wife Cha Se Eum whose career is on a roll. Stay tuned to find out how his inferiority complex affects his relationship with Cha Se Eum!

Last but not least, Park Ho San will star as the cheerful and quick-witted Jeon Sang Do, who is the CEO of the Han River Philharmonic Orchestra. Although the orchestra is in danger, he confidently leads his team with his understanding and love of orchestral music.

“Maestra” is set to air on tvN but the broadcast schedule is still under discussion.

Lee Young-ae becomes a Maestra in upcoming tvN thriller

by solstices

60Q0Og_2f.jpg

Welcome to the Han River Philharmonic orchestra, where music and mysteries abound. In tvN’s Maestra, a remake of the 2019 French television series Philharmonia, Lee Young-ae (Inspector Koo) takes center stage as she leads her musicians through symphonies and suspense.

A former violinist turned world-renowned conductor, Cha Se-eum (Lee Young-ae) has made a name for herself through her musical prowess. Se-eum is a go-getter who’s unafraid to take risks, and her tenacity has earned her the respect of musicians and audiences alike. She’s certainly on the path to success — until a series of inexplicable mysteries begin cropping up within the orchestra, threatening to reveal her life-altering secret.

Lee Moo-saeng (The Glory) plays Yoo Jung-jae, the chairman of a financial company. As a leading figure in the finance sector, Jung-jae is able to read his clients and ascertain their ambitions at a glance. He’s mastered the art of hiding his discerning gaze behind a genial smile, allowing him to play others like a fiddle.

In the orchestra, there’s one violinist who stands out amongst the rest. Hwang Boreumbyeol (The Secret Romantic Guesthouse) plays Lee Ru-na, a talented young virtuoso whom Se-eum takes on as her protégé. Diligent and passionate, Ru-na will stop at nothing to prove her aptitude.

Next to Se-eum, we have Kim Young-jae (Stealer: The Treasure Keeper) as Kim Pil, her affectionate and loving husband. However, beneath his considerate demeanor lies a well-concealed secret. Instead of lauding his wife’s achievements with pride, he’s developed an inferiority complex towards the high-flying Se-eum.

Last but not least, Park Ho-san (Taxi Driver 2) plays Jeon Sang-do, the CEO of the Han River Philharmonic. With his jovial personality and brilliant mind, he directs the orchestra with gusto. That is, until the mysterious cases send the Philharmonic spiraling into a crisis. It’ll certainly be interesting to watch how he and Se-eum team up to guide their beloved orchestra out of this state of flux. Or perhaps they’ll find themselves at loggerheads, escalating the dramatic tension and keeping us viewers on the edge of our seats.

Directed by Kim Jung-kwon (Love to Hate You) with scripts written by Choi Yi-yoon and Hong Jung-hee, Maestra will commence filming later this year.

Mysterious motivations in script reading for Maestra

by Jenzy

image_readtop_2023_823943_16983657025679

tvN’s upcoming music thriller Maestra: Strings of Truth has just released script reading stills of its main cast. Starring Lee Young-ae (Inspector Koo) in her return from her two-year hiatus, the story follows the precarious success of a talented female conductor, and the lengths to which she will go to keep her position.

Cha Se-eum (Lee Young-ae) is a world-famous violinist-turned-conductor who currently leads the Han River Philharmonic Orchestra. She’s known for being a relentless perfectionist and musical genius, but behind her reputation is a dark secret she’s managed to keep under wraps for the entirety of her career. So when mysterious events begin to occur within her orchestra, she’ll find her world dramatically shaken to its core when friends become enemies and truths are revealed.

This sentiment of two-faced secrecy also tracks when we take a look at Se-eum’s social circle. First, we have her doting husband Kim Pil, played by Kim Young-jae (Stealer: The Treasure Keeper). While he’s the entire package on the surface, internally he carries some deep-rooted animosity against his wife’s success. And within the orchestra, we have Se-eum’s protege Lee Ru-na, played by Hwang Boreumbyeol (The Secret Romantic Guesthouse), a young concertmaster desperate to prove herself to her longtime role model.

There aren’t enough details to know if these two will end up being friends or foes to our protagonist, but what’s even more mysterious is the sparse character summary we get for our co-lead Lee Moo-saeng (The Glory). His character Yoo Jung-jae is described as a cunning finance chairman good at manipulating numbers and people. He’s clearly important, but what’s his connection to Se-eum? We don’t know besides the fact that he “hovers around her.” Hmm.

The plot may still be a big ball of mystery at this point, but if Beethoven’s Virus, Do You Like Brahms, or even Tomorrow Cantabile have taught me anything, it’s that there’s no world quite as cutthroat as that of classical music. Looking forward to seeing what kind of tension this drums up.

Written by Choi Yi-yoon and Hong Jung-hee and directed by Kim Jung-kwon (Love to Hate You), 12-episode drama Maestra: Strings of Truth is slated to premiere in December in the Saturday-Sunday slot.

20231103014307_maestra-1.jpeg?s=900x600&Lee Young Ae Transforms Into A Charismatic Orchestra Conductor With Secrets In New Drama “Maestra: Strings Of Truth”

Nov 3, 2023

tvN’s upcoming drama “Maestra: Strings of Truth” has unveiled a new poster!

“Maestra: Strings of Truth” is based off a French work of the same name that depicts the hardships and growth journey of a female orchestra conductor who does her best to investigate the various mysteries that occur within the orchestra. While conductor Cha Se Eum (Lee Young Ae) is bold enough to live like there’s no tomorrow and in a position that many covet, a secret she hides from everyone causes her life to turn upside down.

In the newly released poster, Cha Se Eum is completely immersed in music while her hand is stretched out forward, hinting that the orchestra music is reaching its peak. The text that reads, “Conducting was perfect, then everything started to fall apart,” creates an uneasy atmosphere. What appears to be broken strings of a violin, the disconnected lines that cross the poster seem to signify a dangerous dissonance.

tvN's upcoming mystery thriller Maestra: Strings of Truth has confirmed release for December 9.

tvN's Maestra: Strings of Truth is the story of Cha Se Eum (Lee Young Ae), a violinist-turned-conductor. Following her passion for music, she now stands with a successful career life. But, unbeknownst to others, she harbors a secret that can turn her life upside down. She encounters mysterious happenings taking place within her orchestra and decides to look into the matter to uncover the truth.

The production of the K-drama team raises anticipation by giving the first glimpse of Lee Young Ae's transformation as a conductor.

In the poster, Lee Young Ae In is seen fully immersed in the role of a conductor, her expression radiating profound concentration as she extends her hand forward, symbolizing the orchestra's ascent to its crescendo.

However, the phrase "Perfect conducting, everything started to go wrong" written above in the poster evokes a sense of unease. The distorted lines cutting across the poster, much like a broken violin string, seem to signify a discord. It piques viewers' curiosity about the looming crisis that awaits Cha Se Eum.

Maestra: Strings of Truth also stars Lee Moo SaengHwang Bo Reum ByeolKim Young JaePark Ho San, and Yang Jun Mo, among others.

Maestra: Strings of Truth will premiere on December 9.
