Fans may be able to see Kang Sora in a new project!

On February 23, it was reported that she will be starring in the new original series “Can We Be Strangers?” that will be helmed by director Son Jae Gon.

In response to the news, her agency PLUM A&C stated, “Kang Sora received an offer to star in director Son Jae Gon’s ‘Can We Be Strangers?’ and is currently reviewing it. Nothing has been decided yet.”

“Can We Be Strangers?” is an OTT (over the top) series that is in discussion to be aired via wavve. Previously, Kang Sora worked with Son Jae Gon for the movie “Secret Zoo,” so fans are eager to find out if she will join hands with him once more.

Kang Sora tied the knot with her non-celebrity boyfriend in August 2020, and she welcomed her first child in April 2021.

According to her agency, Kang Sora has received the offer to star in a new drama helmed by director Son Jae Gon. No further details on the drama or the other cast.

After a hiatus of 4-long years, Kang Sora might return to Kdramas. New K-media sources reported recently that the actress might join a new drama slated to broadcast on Wavve. The actress has not confirmed the role. However, fans are looking forward to reuniting with Seo Jae Gon, with whom she worked on a 2020 film.

 

On February 23, K-media shared that Kang Sora will be seen in a new original series Can We Be Strangers? It was further reported that Son Jae Gon would direct the drama. Due to their previous partnership, fans believe that Kang will accept the offer to work again with Son.

On November 18, it was confirmed that the two stars will be taking on the main roles in the new drama series “Can We Be Strangers?” (literal title).

Kang So-ra returns to dramaland with Jang Seung-jo for ENA

Kang So-ra (Revolutionary Love) is making her dramaland return after five years with ENA’s legal rom-com, Can We Be Strangers. Jang Seung-jo (Good Detective 2) costars as her former husband and current law firm colleague.

 

The two were once married, and after they divorced they built out separate lives, essentially becoming strangers. Post-divorce, their lives come together once more when they both begin working at the same law firm. Now reunited, they come to realize that divorce was actually the easy part of their relationship.

Kang So-ra’s character Oh Ha-ra is a star in her field, specializing in divorce. She has a sort of love-hate relationship with her former husband and current colleague, Gu Eun-bum (played by Jang Seung-jo). She wants to hate him, but can’t actually manage to muster up the hate. Joining the main cast we also have Moo Jin-sung (Birthcare Center) as Min Jae-kyum. He’s a close friend of Eun-bum’s and has a special bond with Oh Ha-ra. (Man, there are so many ways to interpret the meaning of “special bond.”)

 

The first look at our drama comes via a poster and a short, snappy video teaser. The video starts with an introduction to Oh Ha-ra, whose nickname is “The Goddess of Divorces.” In voiceover, we hear her ask, “Well, if it isn’t Mr. Ex-husband.” Gu Eun-bum gives a chirpy “Ta-da!” Copy pops up on the screen: “It’s me, your ex-husband.”

 

 

In the next cut, instead of responding with a hello, or handshake, or anything non-violent, Oh Ha-ra grabs him by the necktie and wields a knife in a pretty threatening way while Eun-bum cowers. She angrily states, “He’s not a lawyer, he’s a conman.” In tandem, copy runs across the screen reading: “Divorce is easy, breaking up is hard.” Snippets of the two together flash across the screen, but then the teaser slows down to focus on them sharing a meal. Eun-bum leans in and starts to ask, “So, can we…” Ha-ra finishes the question, “Be strangers?”

I’m so glad to have Kang So-ra back in dramaland that I don’t even mind that we’re getting yet another legal drama, after a year of so many legal dramas. I’m also intrigued by the drama’s focus on personal growth — lately, I’ve been drawn to coming-of-age stories of characters who should be full-on adulting, but aren’t quite there yet. Plus, how can I say no to a drama with Jang Seung-jo as male lead?

Directed by Kim Yang-hee (Our Blues) and written by Park Jin-ri, Can We Be Strangers will premiere in ENA’s Wednesday-Thursday time slot sometime in January 2023.

Kang Sora, who plays the expert divorce lawyer Oh Ha Ra, started off the script reading strong, with her first line being “What are the characteristics of the seeds of infidelity?” She spoke these words with a clear and clipped tone, giving just a taste of her character’s intensity. Kang Sora also described her character as being honest in the way she expresses her emotions.

Jang Seung Jo slipped naturally into his role of Goo Eun Beom, Oh Ha Ra’s ex-husband who is also a talented lawyer. New promos have been released for ENA’s upcoming rom-com Can We Be Strangers, including character stills and a couple mini teasers of our story’s main leads, Kang So-ra (Revolutionary Love) and Jang Seung-jo (Good Detective 2).

The competent and honest Oh Ha-ra (Kang So-ra) is considered the ace lawyer at her firm, specializing in divorce cases. But despite her expertise on the subject matter, going through her own divorce put things in a new perspective and the journey understandably has not been an easy one.

 

Her then-husband Gu Eun-bum (Jang Seung-jo) had worked at the same firm and initially resigned upon their divorce. But perhaps due to his easygoing personality, he now shows no qualms about returning to the same law firm – even though it forces him and Ha-ra to become work colleagues again.

Although not featured in the latest round of promos, the cast lineup also includes fellow lawyers Jo Eun-ji (Human Disqualification) and Lee Jae-won (Dr. Brain). We also have the firm’s co-heads, Jeon Bae-soo (Extraordinary Attorney Woo) and Gil Hae-yeon (Trolley), as well as Eun-bum’s friend Moo Jin-sung (Birthcare Center).

 

The new spot teasers are really just quick snippets of Ha-ra and Eun-bum’s current relationship, and we get a sense of how comfortable they are with one another still, even with the dissolution of their marriage.

In the first video, an angered Ha-ra curses Eun-bum and calls him shameless as she attacks him with her purse. But the dumbfounded Eun-bum only wonders what’s wrong.

New stills for “Can We Be Strangers” are here to get viewers excited for the drama’s premiere!

 

“Can We Be Strangers” is a new romance drama about two divorce lawyers who get married after 10 years of dating, only to wind up getting divorced themselves. When they meet again as colleagues after their divorce, sparks fly at every turn. Kang Sora will play the role of star divorce lawyer Oh Ha Ra, who is known as the “goddess of litigation,” while Jang Seung Jo will play her witty ex Goo Eun Beom, who is a talented lawyer himself.

 

The newest stills contrast with one another sharply, first showing off Oh Ha Ra and Goo Eun Beom as newlyweds, the picture of the two of them overflowing with sweetness and all the fuzzy feelings that come with the initial honeymoon phase of a relationship. The two start out as the perfect campus couple, dating for 10 years and eventually getting married.

 

 

However, things take a turn in the next photos after they have divorced, the two keeping a clear distance from one another both in and out of the workplace. Viewers can expect an entertaining story of how these two will navigate their relationship after their divorce and what will come of them working together once again.

Nice to see Seung Jo in a lighter mood in a drama, 'cause he scared me in "Snowdrop" ha-ha! 

    So Ra is back after marriage and motherhood. Sorta like how Kim Tae Hee is. Though I notice the men are more active than the women tsk. 

    This drama is probably my most anticipated one yet. Hope it doesn't disappoint.

Checking in on the latest promos for ENA’s Can We Be Strangers, we get a deeper look at our leads Kang So-ra (Revolutionary Love) and Jang Seung-jo (Good Detective 2) in a new poster and video teaser, as well as new stills.

The rom-com places fellow lawyers Oh Ha-ra (Kang So-ra) and Gu Eun-bum (Jang Seung-jo) in a sticky situation: they’re a divorced couple who now have to work together as colleagues at the same firm. But, as seen in the new trailer, this allows our ex-pair another opportunity to reflect on their tangled past and  think about how they can re-define their relationship going forward.

 

In the new teaser, we open with Ha-ra explaining that she’s a divorce lawsuit goddess while the captions continue: “I am a lawyer who specializes in divorce. I am divorced as well.” As she wonders aloud about what happiness might be, the following sequence takes us through Ha-ra and Eun-bum’s relationship history as the text summarizes each chapter: love, marriage, hatred, and separation.

We then return briefly to the present where Eun-bum is threatened out of Ha-ra’s office — but we cut to moments of laughter in both their present and their past as the captions continue the question of what happiness might be. Turning to the audience, the appearing text screens ask: “Please tell me what true love is, what true breakup is, what true happiness is.”

 

 

As the video comes to a close, the captions introduce our two actors before taking us to the final screen: “I am a divorce lawyer who is divorced.” In voiceover, we then end on Eun-bum asking, “Can We Be Strangers?”

Directed by PD Kim Yang-hee (Our Blues) with scripts by Park Sa-rang, ENA’s Can We Be Strangers premieres on January 18, following Unlock the Boss in the Wednesday-Thursday slot.
