Kang Sora’s Life Is Turned Upside Down By Her Ex-Husband Jang Seung Jo’s Arrival In New Romance Drama

Upcoming drama “Can We Be Strangers?” has unveiled new character posters of its two leads!

“Can We Be Strangers?” is a romance drama about two divorce lawyers who get married after 10 years of dating, only to wind up getting divorced themselves. When they meet again as colleagues after their divorce, sparks fly at every turn.

Kang Sora will play the role of star divorce lawyer Oh Ha Ra, who is known as the “goddess of litigation.” When her ex-husband Goo Eun Beom (Jang Seung Jo) suddenly walks back into her life, her once peaceful world is turned upside down.

In her character poster, Oh Ha Ra tries to maintain her composure as she looks at her ex, but her gaze hints at the conflicting array of confusing emotions she feels when she’s around him.

Meanwhile, Goo Eun Beom appears as calm as ever as he leans in and smiles charmingly at his ex-wife, piquing curiosity over what the former couple could be talking about. A witty and talented lawyer himself, Goo Eun Beom has Oh Ha Ra on edge the moment he unexpectedly re-enters the picture.

Both posters feature the same intriguing caption: “For us, divorce was easy, but parting ways is hard.”

Love-hate is in the air for Kang So-ra and Jang Seung-jo

by stroopwafel

Love-hate is in the air for Kang So-ra and Jang Seung-jo

ENA’s latest rom-com, Can We Be Strangers, is set to premiere soon, and its latest teaser gives us a more in-depth look at the storyline and the show’s leads. The drama stars Kang So-ra (Revolutionary Love) and Jang Seung-jo (Good Detective 2) as divorce lawyers who are a divorced couple. Drama writers Fate conspires to bring the two divorcees back into each other’s orbits when they end up working at the same law firm.

Several familiar faces in the supporting cast make appearances in the promo video. Jeon Bae-soo (Extraordinary Attorney Woo) will play Seo Han-gil, one of the firm’s managing partners. The other partner, Hong Yeo-rae, will be played by Gil Hae-yeon (Trolley). In the role of Kang Bi-chwi, lawyer and friend to Kang So-ra’s character, is Jo Eun-ji (Human Disqualification). Playing another lawyer at the same firm, Lee Jae-won (Dr. Brain) will take on the role of Kwon Shi-wook.

The promo video shifts between real life and wacky imaginings as Oh Ha-ra (Kang So-ra) and Gu Eun-bum (Jang Seung-jo) are forced to interact. The video begins in an imaginary remote desert, with Eun-bum dangling off a cliff’s edge. Ha-ra’s voice rings out in anger, “You want me to share an office with my ex-husband? You’re a scumbag.” Eun-bum looks hopeful when he sees Ha-ra approach, but unfortunately for him she doesn’t move to help him. She merely asks, “Where’s this month’s alimony payment?”

As he slips and he falls backward into nothingness, we slip back into reality. They’re in court, working as opposing counsel and as Ha-ra muses to herself, “We’ll just have to face off,” we’re back in the desert. The Wild West to be exact, and they’re decked out as cowpeople (which I assume is the correct plural for cowboy and cowgirl). They draw their pistols but before any shots are fired, their boss Han-gil interrupts and in exasperation tells Eun-bum, “Get back together then. Or marry her off to someone.”

Eun-bum gets all bright-eyed and has a eureka moment. He invites Ha-ra out to a restaurant…for a blind date. She’s dumbfounded when she realizes what’s happening, but he just proudly introduces her to her prospective future husband, exclaiming, “Tada! Surprise!” complete with jazz fingers. Bi-chwi advises Ha-ra, “Just kill him.” Ha-ra gives a sly smile and replies, “That would be best.” The screen cuts to a text statement, and is interspersed with moments from their lives. “Divorce is easy. Breaking up is hard. The love and work of divorce lawyers.”

Shi-wook mutters, “Hate is a form of love too. It may run even hotter.” He may be speaking from experience as we see snippets of Bi-chwi and Shi-wook’s office relationship. They argue, and the fight goes from Bi-chwi angrily backing him up against a wall — then grabbing his collar and going in for a kiss.

The camera cuts to another grab, this time Ha-ra grabbing Eun-bum’s wrist. They seem to be in bed together but it’s not clear if this is a pre-divorce memory or a post-divorce reverie. Just as the two are about to kiss, the camera cuts to Ha-ra patting her cheeks in a fervor and calling herself crazy. Yeo-rae asks mockingly in voiceover, “Are you really a veteran divorce lawyer?” In glimpses of the law office and court, Ha-ra seems to have her confidence back and states, “Okay, let’s wrap this up.” The video winds down with a cute montage of the former couple first drinking with colleagues, then again drinking alone. Just when you think the video’s over the camera cuts to Ha-ra looking hungover in bed. She checks her phone’s call log from the previous night and every single call was to Eun-bum. She throws the phone down in horror, once again calling herself crazy.

I’ve enjoyed seeing things from Ha-ra’s perspective and there’s just so much emotion still lingering for her. Her feelings are huge, even if she’s not sure exactly which emotion(s) she’s feeling. Which makes me wonder about why they ended up divorced in the first place. Meddling in-laws? Infidelity? While I like seeing things from Ha-ra’s side, I’m more curious than ever about what the deal is with Eun-bum. He’s such a blank slate in comparison, more reactive and passive, and we haven’t yet seen what his feelings are toward his ex-wife. While she gets riled up on sight, he seems to have no reaction, to the point where it comes off as bit of a facade. I do love a good enemies-to-lovers story, so if this ends up being a lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers story, I’ll be happy.

Jang Seung Jo, Kang Sora, Moo Jin Sung, And More Boast Intriguing Ties In “Can We Be Strangers” Relationship Chart

Jang Seung Jo, Kang Sora, Moo Jin Sung, And More Boast Intriguing Ties In “Can We Be Strangers” Relationship Chart

ENA’s upcoming romance drama “Can We Be Strangers?” has unveiled a character relationship chart!

“Can We Be Strangers?” is a romance drama about two divorce lawyers who get

married after 10 years of dating, only to wind up getting divorced themselves. When they meet again as colleagues after their divorce, sparks fly at every turn.

The chart takes a deeper look at the many employees working at Doohwang, a divorce law firm. At the center of everyone are Oh Ha Ra (Kang Sora) and Goo Eun Beom (Jang Seung Jo), a divorced couple who are now co-workers.

Closely intertwined with them is the perfect Min Jae Kyum (Moo Jin Sung), who has everything from good looks, polite manners, and a prestigious background. He is Goo Eun Beom’s close friend, but also intriguingly has a fling with Oh Ha Ra. To throw in even more chaos, the two were actually introduced by Goo Eun Beom for his “Get Oh Ha Ra Remarried” project out of the belief that Min Jae Kyum is the best fit for Oh Ha Ra out of all his acquaintances. Added to the mix is Goo Eun Beom’s first love Ki Seo Hee (Park Jung Won), with whom a relationship never blossomed.

Doohwang lawyers Kang Bi Chwi (Jo Eun Ji) and Kwon Shi Wook (Lee Jae Won) are the best friends of Oh Ha Ra and Goo Eun Beom, respectively. Kang Bi Chwi is a fierce woman who studied overseas in California, while Kwon Shi Wook is a powerful only child. The polar opposites clash constantly, making remarks at one another that hit a little too close to home. However, unlike their outward attitudes, their backgrounds match with one another’s ideal types, making their feelings start to waver.

Jeon Bae Soo and Gil Hae Yeon portray Doohwang’s co-presidents. Seo Han Gil (Jeon Bae Soo) is Doohwang’s lazy but playful CEO, while Hong Yeo Rae (Gil Hae Yeon) is the company’s core pillar. Additional employees include office part leader Jeon Min Kyung (Kim Rosa), who is a working mom, friendly accountant Sung Chan Young (Shin Joo Hyeop), and all-rounder Ji Ye Seul (Min Chae Min) who works in litigation.

Watch: Kang Sora And Jang Seung Jo Impress Staff With Their Chemistry During “Can We Be Strangers” Poster Shoot

Kang Sora and Jang Seung Jo wowed everyone on the set of the “Can We Be Strangers” (literal translation) poster shoot with their perfect chemistry!

“Can We Be Strangers” is an upcoming romance drama about two divorce lawyers who get married after 10 years of dating, only to wind up getting divorced themselves. When they meet again as colleagues after their divorce, sparks fly at every turn. Kang Sora will play the role of star divorce lawyer Oh Ha Ra, who is known as the “goddess of litigation,” while Jang Seung Jo will play her witty ex Goo Eun Beom, who is a talented lawyer himself.

The new making-of-video from the poster shoot highlights Kang Sora and Jang Seung Jo’s professionalism as they perfectly execute the staff’s directions while posing. For the main poster set in a whiskey bar, the pair skillfully convey the heart-fluttering feelings of their characters through their flirtatious expressions. The staff eventually can’t hide their excitement and applaud the two actors for their impressive chemistry, which makes Kang Sora laughs as she bashfully says, “Please stop doing that.”

In the next scene, the two professionally commit themselves to an outdoor shoot even in the unforgiving cold weather of Korea’s winter, drawing admiration from the staff.

For the final shoot, the atmosphere turns icy when Kang Sora and Jang Seung Jo don solemn expressions to portray an ex-couple meeting each other after their divorce.

Watch: Kang Sora And Jang Seung Jo Are Ex-Spouses Walking The Fine Line Between Love And Hate In New Drama Trailer

New drama “Can We Be Strangers?” has shared an exciting sneak peek of the fiery chemistry between its two leads!

“Can We Be Strangers?” is a romance drama about two divorce lawyers who get married after 10 years of dating, only to wind up getting divorced themselves. When they meet again as colleagues after their divorce, sparks fly at every turn. Kang Sora will play the role of star divorce lawyer Oh Ha Ra, who is known as the “goddess of litigation,” while Jang Seung Jo will play her witty ex Goo Eun Beom, who is a talented lawyer himself.

The newly released trailer begins with a cinematic scene symbolizing the animosity between the two ex-spouses. A furious Oh Ha Ra exclaims, “You’re telling me to share an office with my ex-husband?!” Then, as her ex dangles off the edge of a cliff begging her to save him, Oh Ha Ra asks frostily, “Why didn’t you pay me this month’s alimony?”

The former couple can’t stop bickering in real life as well, leading the head of their law firm to exclaim in frustration, “Just get back together! Or marry her off to someone else.” Giddy with sudden inspiration, Goo Eun Beom takes his boss’s advice literally and ambushes his ex-wife with a surprise blind date—and it’s safe to say from her reaction that she isn’t exactly thrilled about it.

However, even as the two lawyers clash at every opportunity, one of the co-workers points out, “Hatred can be love too. An even more passionate love.” Sure enough, the sexual tension between the couple finally reaches its breaking point in Oh Ha Ra’s imagination—and in a desperate attempt to snap out of it, she exclaims, “I must have gone crazy!”

The trailer ends with Oh Ha Ra and Goo Eun Beom asking in unison, “So… can we be strangers?”

“Can We Be Strangers?” (which premiered through Genie TV on January 8) will begin airing on ENA on January 18 at 9 p.m. KST. In the meantime, check out the trailer below!

Looking forward to see my favorite actress in action again after a long hiatus.

Not disappointed to say the least, more beautiful than ever with great complexion.  Motherhood suits her well.  The cauliflower ears of the ML is rather off-putting and a distraction.  Overall a promising first episode and amazing acting by all the actors.  I am looking forward to the future episodes as divorce cases is getting more common now and does impact families, especially kids and society, thereby affecting some of us in a way.  It is an interesting subject and may help those who find it relevant.

That was a solid first episode. I enjoyed it.

I guess the male lead will try to marry off the female lead so he can stop paying alimony, but the plan obviously backfires as they work together and fall in love again.

I don't think ML cheated on FL.:cold_sweat: I think there was the obvious miscommunication, tied together with some tragic backstory, and so he let her believe he was cheating instead of proving himself. As someone said, they're not over each other.

Overall assessment, a good start. I hope it maintains the energy. I needed a good laugh and today's episode had me hollering!
