Kim So Hyun and NU'EST's Hwang Min Hyun will possibly team up for the upcoming drama "Useless Lies."

On September 21st, several media outlets reported that Kim So Hyun and Hwang Min Hyun will be the main leads of the upcoming mystery romance comedy drama "Useless Lies." 

Hwang Min Hyun's agency Pledis Entertainment responded to the casting reports. According to the agency, the idol-actor is positively reviewing the offer to star in "Useless Lies." Meanwhile, Kim So Hyun's side hasn't responded to the casting news. 

"Useless Lies" will be about a woman who can hear lies and a man who refuses to lie. The series will be the next project of director Nam Sung Woo ("Love in Contract," "My Roommate Is a Gumiho," and "Kkondae Intern.")

Hwang Min Hyun got the offer to play the role of Kim Do Ha, the best composer, and producer in Korea. He is more known for his name Kei. His real name, age, birthplace, and marital status are all kept secret. 

Kim So Hyun will reportedly play as the character named Sung Hee. At an early age, she already got the ability to hear lies. After meeting Kim Do Ha, she will fall into new problems while living with the ability. 

"Useless Lies" will reportedly have 16 episodes. Meanwhile, the broadcast date and channel are not yet finalized.

 

 

If Kim So Hyun confirms her casting, this will be her follow-up drama after the Netflix original series "Love Alarm 2." The actress is also set to star in the new series "Is It Fate?" directed by Song Hyun Wook. For 2022, the actress is currently resting and didn't appear in any projects. 

Meanwhile, if Hwang Min Hyun accepted the upcoming drama, this will be his second time being the main lead of a series. He got his first leading role in the 2020 drama "Live On." For this year, Hwang Min Hyun was part of the drama "Alchemy of Souls." He will also join the second part "Alchemy of Souls: Light and Shadow" which will also air this year.

After almost two years, Kim So Hyun will finally return to small screen in new drama series!

Back in September, reports stated that Kim So Hyun will be leading a new mystery romance K-drama. On November 11th, Kim So Hyun's agency IEUM Hashtag finally confirmed that the top actress will be returning to acting with "Useless Lies."

According to the agency, Kim So Hyun will work together with director Nam Sung Woo who also worked for the K-dramas "Love in Contract," "My Roommate Is a Gumiho," and "Kkondae Intern."

Kim So-Hyun is cast in new drama series “Useless Lies” (literal title). Drama series will be directed by Nam Sung-Woo (“Love in Contract“). Meanwhile, singer-actor Minhyun (NU’EST) has received an offer to play the lead male role and he is currently “positively considering” the offer. In “Useless Lies,” Kim So-Hyun will play a young woman with a special ability to tell when someone is lying. It’s official: Kim So Hyun is starring in the upcoming drama “Useless Lies” (literal translation)!

On November 11, Kim So Hyun’s agency IEUM Hashtag announced, “Kim So Hyun has been cast as Mok Sol Hee in the new drama ‘Useless Lies.'”

On December 16th, media outlets shared that Seo Ji Hoon will be one of the main leads of the upcoming k-drama "Useless Lies." He will be working with confirmed main leads Kim So Hyun and NU'EST's Hwang Min Hyun. 

If Seo Ji Hoon decided to star in the upcoming series, this will be his second upcoming drama. The actor will also join the upcoming series "King of Saju" written by Lee Sun Joo.

Is honesty the best policy? Or does the adage “ignorance is bliss” hold true after all? This dilemma will take center stage in tvN’s upcoming mystery-romance Useless Lies, which will tell the tale of someone who can’t believe in others and someone whom no one believes.

Kim So-hyun (Love Alarm 2) stars as the human lie detector Mok Sol-hee, who was born with the ability to distinguish between candor and deceit. To her, however, her gift is a curse. Unable to avoid realizing when someone is lying to her, Sol-hee has grown jaded and cynical. All her ability has done is reveal the worst of people — that is, until it unexpectedly confirms a man’s innocence.

 

That man is Kim Do-ha, played by Hwang Min-hyun (Alchemy of Souls). Although he’s the most renowned composer and producer in the country, his true identity remains a mystery — and for good reason. Ever since Do-ha came under suspicion of murder, he’s had to contend with skepticism and scorn from countless others. Unable to prove whether his words are truth or lie (heh), Do-ha eventually retreated into hiding, resigning himself to letting others believe what they want.

All that changes when he meets his next-door neighbor Sol-hee. For the first time, someone believes in him, and it’s enough to instill hope in the lonely Do-ha and draw him out of his isolation. As he gradually opens up to Sol-hee, he’ll begin to develop feelings for her — the sole person to see past his tarnished reputation to the side of him that he’s kept concealed thus far.

Thankfully, Do-ha doesn’t only have one person on his side. There’s also Jo Deuk-chan — played by Yoon Ji-on (Tomorrow) — who’s the CEO of the entertainment company that Do-ha’s signed to. With his brilliant leadership and exceptional business acumen, he’d extended a lifeline to the reclusive Do-ha, leading him down the path of becoming a composer. Not only does Deuk-chan treasure Do-ha like a real brother, but he’s also the one and only person who knows Do-ha’s secret.

Another character in Do-ha’s vicinity is the singer Sha-on, played by Lee Shi-woo (The Fabulous). Not much has been disclosed about her character yet, but perhaps her presence speaks for itself. With her mesmerizing aura, there’s no better place for Sha-on than the celebrity stage. Presumably, she’ll be working together with Do-ha and singing his songs. Will she turn out to be friend or foe? Only time will tell.

Adding some romantic tension to the mix is Seo Ji-hoon (Revenge of Others), playing the kind-hearted and compassionate detective Lee Kang-min. Having fallen for Sol-hee at first sight, he’d been preparing a heartfelt proposal — only to be diagnosed with stomach cancer. Three years later, Kang-min has finally achieved complete remission, and he’s ready to rekindle his romance with Sol-hee. Except there’s now another man by Sol-hee’s side, and this unexpected presence stirs up mixed feelings for Kang-min.

A detective who’s also a rival in love? That certainly doesn’t bode well for Do-ha. It does, however, bode well for me — because I’m more than excited to see this cast in action! I mean, I’d watch Seo Ji-hoon in just about anything, but I’m also a longtime NU’EST fan with a penchant for mystery dramas, so this is right up my alley. Bring on the sleuthing and the singing! (You can’t cast Minhyun and then not have him sing, right?)

tvN's upcoming Monday-Tuesday drama, Useless Lies (directed by  Nam Sung Woo and the screenplay penned by Seo Jeong Eun), has brought together its cast for the script reading session. 

The new mystery rom-com tells the story of Mok Sol Hee, a woman with the ability to detect lies, and a genius composer Kim Do Ha, who hides his true identity. 

During the script reading session, the ensemble cast, Kim So Hyun, Hwang Min Hyun, Yun Ji On, Seo Ji Hoon, Lee Si Woo, Ha Jong Woo, Park Gyeong Hye, Song Jin Woo, and Jo Jin Se, portrayed their impeccable acting skills, bringing their unique characters to life. 

 

 

Kim So Hyun's flawlessly portrayed  Mok Sol Hee, a cynic who can sense lies due to her extraordinary ability. Growing up surrounded by falsehoods, Mok Sol Hee faces challenging situations in her life. Kim So Hyun deftly unravels the dynamic story of Mok Sol Hee, leaving viewers intrigued. Whereas, Hwang Min Hyun plays the character of Kim Do Ha, a genius composer, who has an untold secret. The actor delicately portrayed the intriguing character of the reclusive loner. As his path intertwines with his neighbor Mok Sol Hee, his life begins to take a different turn.
