Ji Chang Wook, Wi Ha Joon, and Im Se Mi will work together for the upcoming Disney+ original series "The Worst Evil."

On October 4th, Disney+ officially confirmed that Ji Chang Wook, Wi Ha Joon, and Im Se Mi will be the main leads of "The Worst Evil." The series will premiere next year. 

"The Worst Evil" will showcase the journey of the detectives that started an investigation into the triangle of the drug trade between Korea, China, and Japan. 

Ji Chang Wook will portray the role of Kang Joon Mo, a police officer who will infiltrate the organization for his drug investigation. 

Im Se Mi will play the role of Yoo Yoo Jung, a police officer who's included in the drug investigation and also the wife of Kang Joon Mo. 

Wi Ha Joon will portray the character named Jung Ki Chul, the boss of the criminal organization. 

The upcoming series will be helmed by director Han Dong Wook, the man behind the works "Man In Love," "Nameless Gangster: Rules of Tim," "The Unjust," and more. 

"The Worst Evil" will be released in the second half of 2023 and it will exclusively premiere on Disney+.

 

This will be the follow-up drama of Ji Chang Wook after the series "If You Wish Upon Me." This drama is also the first project of the actor for next year. Ji Chang Wook is currently starring in the entertainment program "Young Actors' Retreat" together with his "The Sound of Magic" colleagues. 

This will also be Im Se Mi's first project for 2023. The actress is currently part of the ongoing drama "The Empire." She will also join the upcoming drama "Duty After School" together with Shin Hyun Soo and Kim Ki Hae.

Wi Ha Joon is currently starring in the drama "Little Women." Aside from "The Worst Evil," the actor is booked for three more upcoming dramas as "K Project," "Shark: The Storm," and "Que Sera, Sera."

Crime-action K-drama ‘The Worst of Evil’ to premiere on Disney+ in 2023

Streaming platform Disney+ has announced a 2023 premiere for its upcoming original series The Worst of Evil.

On October 4, Disney+ announced its latest upcoming Korean title The Worst of Evil, starring Ji Chang-wook (If You Wish Upon Me), Lim Se-mi (True Beauty) and Wi Ha-joon (Squid Game, Little Women). The series will be available to stream exclusively on the platform sometime in 2023.

According to Disney+, the upcoming crime-action drama is set in 1980s South Korea, and follows undercover police investigators who infiltrate a massive criminal organisation responsible for the illegal drug trade between Korea, China and Japan.

Ji stars as series lead officer Kang Joon-mo, who is part of the investigation. He is joined by Yoo Eui-jung (played by Lim), a narcotics officer. Meanwhile, Wi is set to play Jung Ki-cheol, the leader of the criminal enterprise. The Worst of Evil will be directed by director Han Dong-wook, who previously worked on films like Man In Love (2014) and The Unjust (2010).

The forthcoming K-drama is the latest addition to the company’s growing catalogue of original content, and is part of Disney+’s ongoing goal of green-lighting over 50 APAC original titles by 2023. Its recent South Korean titles include Kiss Sixth Sense, Soundtrack #1 and Big Mouth, among others.

In other K-drama news, Disney+ has also unveiled its first trailer for crime-thriller series Connect, starring Snowdrop actor Jung Hae-in. Set to premiere in December 2022, it follows a young man who becomes a witness to horrific attacks after one of his eyes is taken by organ harvesters and transplanted into the body of a serial killer.

Ji Chang Wook, Wi Ha Joon, and Im Se Mi have all confirmed that they would appear in the upcoming Disney+ original series "The Worst Evil," which will debut in 2023. This announcement was made on October 4th. An inquiry to stop the drug trade between Korea, China, and Japan was launched in Seoul, South Korea, according to the criminal action drama "The Worst Evil."

Ji Chang Wook will portray Park Jun Mo, a police officer who infiltrates a group to look into drug use, and he'll exhibit a significant metamorphosis in the role. Wi Ha Joon portrays Jung Gi Chul, the leader of a newly formed criminal organization, and creates a presence that is endearing and unstoppable. Im Se Mi will also demonstrate her prodigious acting abilities in the character of Yoo Jung, a police officer involved in a narcotics investigation, and Park Jun Mo's wife.

 

 

 

Han Dong Wook, who directed the film "When a Man Loves" after serving as an assistant director and head of the directing department for "Unfair Trade," "War on Crime," and "New World," made his directorial debut. Ji Chang Wook gained notoriety for portraying the title character of Dong Hae in the daily drama series "Smile Again" (2010–2011). Ji Chang Wook also had notable lead roles in several other television series, including "Warrior Baek Dong Soo" (2011), "Empress Ki" (2013–2014), "Healer" (2014–2015), "The K2" (2016), "Suspicious Partner" (2017), "Melting Me Softly" (2019 (2022).

 

Actor and model Wi Ha Joon is from South Korea. He gained international notoriety for his appearances in the television series "Squid Game" (2021), "Something in the Rain" (2018), "Romance Is a Bonus Book" (2019), "18 Again" (2020), and the movies "Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum" (2018), "Shark: The Beginning" (2021), and "Midnight" (2021).

Ji Chang Wook, Wi Ha Joon, and Im Se Mi have all been confirmed for the cast of the upcoming Disney+ series “The Worst Evil” (literal translation)!

“The Worst Evil” is a new crime-action drama about an investigation launched in Seoul to take down a drug trafficking triangle that runs between Korea, Japan, and China.

Ji Chang Wook will be starring in the drama as Kang Joon Mo, a police officer who goes undercover for the investigation, while Wi Ha Joon will star as Jung Ki Chul, a rising mob boss.

Im Se Mi will be playing the role of Kang Joon Mo’s wife Yoo Eui Jung, who is also a police officer taking part in the investigation.

The upcoming series, which is slated to premiere in the second half of 2023, will be helmed by “Man in Love” director Han Dong Wook.

I think we can all agree that Wi Ha Joon’s hairstyle is a lot better than oppa’s in this drama.  That’s why your eyes draw to him.

On August 14th, Disney+ revealed the release date of the upcoming action thriller The Worst of Evil. The K-drama, starring Ji Chang Wook, Wi Ha Joon, and Im Se Mi, is set to release on September 27th. 

Set in the 1990s, The Worst of Evil is a story of the journey of police officer Joon Mo (Ji Chang Wook), who infiltrates a Korean-Chinese-Japanese drug trade syndicate centered in Gangnam, aiming to dismantle its operations.

Accompanying the announcement of the release, a teaser poster has also been released.  

Set against the backdrop of Gangnam, the poster gives the retro vibe of the 1990s, showing Ki Chul (Wi Ha Joon), the mastermind behind the criminal organization, and Joon Mo (Ji Chang Wook), who is undercover for the drug investigation. Both exude an air of charismatic determination as they confidently walk the bustling streets of Gangnam, etching a lasting impression.

 

 

Of particular note is the impeccable transformation of the two actors. 

Ji Chang Wook, playing the role of Park Joon Mo, who is tasked with infiltrating the Gangnam syndicate, is poised to deliver a tour de force performance, perhaps the most compelling of his career. The actor's assertion that he poured his heart into the role adds to the fervent excitement surrounding the drama.

I had the same experience.

Both are leads but the story is about Ji Chang Wook`s character. He is the good guy so he will play the first lead. The poster makes sense. Wi Ha Joon plays the leader of the organization and Ji Chang Wook is under him in the hierarchy. He infiltrated the organization so he is not prominent but he is still important. He is the hero.

“The Worst of Evil” is a crime-action drama that tells the journey of police officer Kang Joon Mo as he goes on an undercover mission to take down a major drug operation based in Gangnam, the center of drug trafficking between Korea, China, and Japan during the 1990s.

The new teaser poster captivates the viewers with its nostalgic depiction of Gangnam in the 1990s. The main characters, Jung Ki Chul (played by Wi Ha Joon), the leader of the Gangnam drug cartel, and the undercover detective Kang Joon Mo (portrayed by Ji Chang Wook), ooze confidence and charisma as they navigate the streets. The text on the poster reads, “In 1990s Gangnam, they ran the streets.”

 

While Ji Chang Wook is expected to deliver his most intense acting performance to date, Wi Ha Joon is said to have flawlessly captured the intricate layers of his mob boss role, from his determination and drive to achieve success at any cost to his trust and loyalty to the members of his organization.
