Im Soo Hyang’s Drunk Talk Raises Kim Jung Hyun’s Temper In “Kokdu: Season Of Deity”

Im Soo Hyang’s Drunk Talk Raises Kim Jung Hyun’s Temper In “Kokdu: Season Of Deity”

Kim Jung Hyun and Im Soo Hyang’s relationship takes another drastic turn in the upcoming episode of “Kokdu: Season of Deity”!

“Kokdu: Season of Deity” is a fantasy romance which tells the story of a grim reaper named Kokdu (Kim Jung Hyun) who comes down to this world to punish humans every 99 years. When Kokdu meets Han Gye Jeol (Im Soo Hyang), a doctor with mysterious abilities, he starts working as a visiting doctor.

Spoilers

Previously in “Kokdu: Season of Deity,” Han Gye Jeol, who came down to Yeongpo City in search of Do Jin Woo (Kim Jung Hyun), got caught up in Kokdu’s plan and was forced to wear a doctor’s gown as a visiting doctor. Amdist all this, Gye Jeol’s ex-boyfriend Jung Yi Deun (Lee Jung Joon), who she ended her relationship badly with, appeared in front of her, disrupting her everyday life which was already complicated.

In the upcoming episode, Han Gye Jeol recalls her bad memories with her ex-boyfriend Jung Yi Deun that she wanted to forget about and starts to talk drunkenly in front of Kokdu. At some point, her words ruffle Kokdu’s feathers, causing an unexpected stir in their relationship.

In the midst of all this, new stills from Han Gye Jeol and Jung Yi Deun’s past capture viewers’ attention. Gye Jeol is drunk and craves attention from her boyfriend while Jung Yi Deun, who seems to no longer have affectionate feelings for her, turns his gaze away and stares into space. From their appearances, viewers can guess why Han Gye Jeol’s pride was hurt so much in the past.

Another set of stills captures Kokdu with a hard expression and Gye Jeol with flushed cheeks. The images draw curiosity about what kind of words Gye Jeol might have said that aroused Kokdu’s temper.

“Kokdu: Season Of Deity” Hints At Complicated Love Triangle Between Kim Jung Hyun, Im Soo Hyang, And Dasom

Feb 10, 2023
by M. Lim

The love triangle between the three main leads in “Kokdu: Season of Deity” is about to get more intense!

Spoilers

Previously at the end of episode 4 of “Kokdu: Season of Deity,” Kokdu remembered his previous life after sharing a kiss with Han Gye Jeol and realized that Han Gye Jeol was Seol Hee all along. Certain that his curse can finally be lifted now, Kokdu prepared a proposal for Han Gye Jeol and readied himself to finally be free.

However, putting an unexpected brake on Kokdu’s plan is Tae Jung Won (Dasom). Instead of Han Gye Jeol, Tae Jung Won shows up first at the place where Kokdu is preparing his romantic proposal at. In contrast to the first photo where Kokdu is seen excitedly looking at the flower decorations at the venue, Tae Jung Won and Han Gye Jeol are embroiled in a tense stare-off as both are surprised and displeased to see each other.

As it was suggested in the previous episode that Tae Jung Won played a role in why Gye Jeol broke up with her ex-boyfriend Jung Yi Deun (Lee Jung Joon), viewers can’t help but wonder if history will repeat itself this time. Not knowing that Tae Jung Won is Do Jin Woo’s ex-girlfriend, how will Han Gye Jeol react when Tae Jung Won drops the bomb on her?

Things are equally confusing to Tae Jung Won, who in the end acts harshly towards Han Gye Jeol only because she still thinks Kokdu is Do Jin Woo, her used-to-be sweet boyfriend who now doesn’t seem to even care about her anymore. What choice will Kokdu make now that he’s caught between the two women?

Kim Jung Hyun Is At Risk Of Being Found Out By Dasom In “Kokdu: Season Of Deity”

Kim Jung Hyun Is At Risk Of Being Found Out By Dasom In “Kokdu: Season Of Deity”

Will Kim Jung Hyun be caught in a lie on the next episode of “Kokdu: Season of Deity”?

“Kokdu: Season of Deity” is a new MBC fantasy romance drama starring Kim Jung Hyun as Kokdu, a grim reaper who leaves the underworld every 99 years to punish humans in the mortal realm. During his latest trip, he winds up meeting Han Gye Jeol, a female doctor who has the mysterious ability to order him around (played by Im Soo Hyang).

Spoilers

On the previous episode of “Kokdu: Season of Deity,” an unexpected rival for Kokdu’s affections emerged in the form of Tae Jung Won (Dasom), Do Jin Woo’s former girlfriend. Meanwhile, Kokdu made up his mind to pretend to be Do Jin Woo and go about living Do Jin Woo’s life in order to secure his place inside Han Gye Jeol’s heart.

In newly released stills from the drama’s upcoming episode, Kokdu takes a stroll while linking arms with a giddy Tae Jung Won. As he is clearly pretending to be Do Jin Woo, the photos raise the question of what Kokdu is planning—and why he’s chosen to involve Tae Jung Won.

However, fate throws an unexpected hurdle in Kokdu’s plans when the couple runs into a patient in need of emergency medical assistance. Unlike Do Jin Woo, a talented young doctor who is experienced at saving lives, Kokdu is a grim reaper whose job is leading people to their deaths—and when he is obviously flustered by the emergency situation, Tae Jung Won begins to look at him with suspicion.

Kokdu: Season of Deity: Episodes 5-6

by DaebakGrits

Kokdu5-6_00.jpg

Our (not a) grim reaper has confirmed our doctor is the woman destined to break his curse. But instead of trying to hunt down her attempted murderer like a proper god tasked with killing sinners, Kokdu — and our plot — unexpectedly slows down to waste time on more worldly problems, like exes who don’t want to stay exes and patients with scurvy.

EPISODES 5-6 WEECAP

You know what Kokdu: Season of Deity and its titular character have in common? Both have too much time on their hands. It was never more obvious than with this week’s episodes that Kokdu (the drama) is really struggling to fill its eighty-minute time slot, and Kokdu (the character) embodies the overall laziness of the plot every time he reclines in his seat and watches from the sidelines while Gye-jeol and his demi-god minions do all the work.

Neither the drama nor Kokdu have the right to be idle — not when writer and director have thrown every genre and gum ball machine worth of plot devices at us. And yet, this week it felt like all the major plot points that have been introduced thus far — like, oh I don’t know, the fact that someone just tried to kill Gye-jeol last week — were put on the back burner to simmer while Kokdu and our story underwent (yet another) identity crisis.

This time the prevalent genre is small town slice-of-life romance, which means introducing a group of meddling neighbors who are overly invested in the pretty new town doctor’s love life. Apparently, all it takes to win over the townspeople and drum up loyal customers is to explain that one man’s WebMD self-diagnosis is actually scurvy — not leukemia. Suddenly everyone wants to pile into Gye-jeol’s examination room and vet her rumored boyfriend. Of course, by the time the neighbors have rallied to interrogate Kokdu and measure his worthiness, the situation between him and Gye-jeol has hit a brick wall.

You see, after finally getting confirmation that Gye-jeol was the curse-breaking woman Kokdu had been looking for, Ok Shin put in motion an epic proposal dinner intended to woo and wow her into kissing Kokdu. Unfortunately, before the romantic dinner gets underway, TAE JUNG-WON (Dasom) shows up. And she’s there to mark her territory and claim the amnesiac Jin-woo as her boyfriend.

Gye-jeol, however, is suspicious of her former best friend. After all, if Jung-won is capable of lying and stealing Gye-jeol’s boyfriend, then it’s not implausible that the b***h (Kokdu’s word, not mine) would also take advantage of the fact that Jin-woo has amnesia. Even so, Gye-jeol decides it’s best to put a pause on her relationship with Kokdu until Jin-woo recovers his memories.

During their romantic hiatus, Gye-jeol begins to question if her own intentions were pure. Perhaps she was the one being greedy, wanting a successful and rich boyfriend. Did she take advantage of the fact that he lost his memories in order to get closer to him? She later explains her fears to Kokdu and vows to make up for her lapse in judgment, but he responds from the insider knowledge that Jin-woo is very dead and so not coming back. He asks her what she would do if Kokdu is the personality that’s here to stay…

Kokdu: Season of Deity: Episodes 9-10

by DaebakGrits

https://d263ao8qih4miy.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Kokdu9-10_00.jpg

Our leading lady still hasn’t figured out that our hero is a deadly, murderous god trapped in a doctor’s body, so her attempts to fix his anger issues and manage their misaligned expectations and communication issues are downright painful to watch. And yet, someone decided that cohabitation is the solution to both their relationship and evil villain problems.

EPISODES 9-10

After leaving us hanging and pondering why Gye-jeol would give up her sweet gig in the small seaside town for a life in Seoul, where she’d — presumably — work for our drama’s main villain, our story resumes by first replaying the ending of last week’s episodes. This time, though, we get a little more context to the situation that explains why Chairman Kim believes he can protect himself by keeping Gye-jeol at his side — and it’s not simply because she’s Kokdu’s woman.

Nope, while Joong-shik spied on Gye-jeol’s clinic through his hidden cameras, he managed to figure out that Kokdu was magically bound to obey Gye-jeol’s commands. So Chairman Kim lured Gye-jeol to his office with a job offer — which she actually rejected, BTW — in order to trick her into commanding Kokdu to stay far away from him. As we saw last week, she didn’t say the magic words that would protect Chairman Kim from Kokdu’s icy death choke, but she did manage to drag Kokdu outside, where Gye-jeol unleashes the extent of her savior complex.

Except, this time, the part where Gye-jeol said she was considering Chairman Kim’s offer and wanted to move to Seoul was noticeably absent. Yo, writers! You can’t try and mislead us into thinking she’s going to fall into the villain’s grasp and then retcon the whole thing by deleting a conversation and pretending it never happened! That’s cheating!

Aside from that very noticeable omission, the conversation is roughly the same. Kokdu is angry because she stupidly put herself in harm’s way, and Gye-jeol is upset that his method of protecting her before he “disappears” involves violence and, well, attempted murder. She wants him to be a better person (yadda yadda), and he doesn’t understand why she cares so much about righting his (im)moral compass. Because she loves you, Kokdu! Duh!

Before she can confess her feelings, though, he silences her with a kiss because, once the words are out of her mouth, it means the curse is broken — and he isn’t quite ready to leave yet. As far as K-drama kisses go, it was visually pretty because of all the yellow autumn leaves, but that’s the extent of my praise. The tone was all wrong, and upon second viewing — thanks to the drama’s extended cut of last week’s ending — it wasn’t better.

If anything, I was left scratching my head even more, wondering why I’m supposed to buy these two as a couple. Gye-jeol is so caught up in the fairy tale of having a handsome man rescue her from falling down a set of stairs, that she’s completely avoiding reality (as she knows it). I mean, without the context that Kokdu is a god cursed with killing bad people, he’s — at best — a man whose severe head injury has triggered a second, more violent personality that’s become irrationally protective and obsessed with Gye-jeol.

Instead of focusing on all these red flags, though, Gye-jeol gets upset with Kokdu for going MIA after their kiss. She mistakenly thinks he’s only interested in a friends-with-benefits type of situation, but here’s the kicker: he only ran away because her brother showed up unannounced at her house the morning after she fainted from locking lips with Kokdu, and she made him hide because she knew her brother wouldn’t approve of her dating Jin-woo.

Unlike the woefully ignorant Gye-jeol, Cheol knows Kokdu is capable of murder, and he’d prefer it if his sister stayed away from Kokdu until he can find irrefutable evidence. Proving Kokdu is a murderer will have to wait, though, because Choong-seong’s body was found — with it a tell-all suicide letter forged by Gak Shin. It seems Kokdu is attempting to appease Gye-jeol, and instead of murdering Chairman Kim outright — because he still totally can — he’s going to bring him down using the mortals’ justice system.

Kim Jung Hyun And Im Soo Hyang’s Budding Romance Faces Turbulence In “Kokdu: Season Of Deity”

Kim Jung Hyun And Im Soo Hyang’s Budding Romance Faces Turbulence In “Kokdu: Season Of Deity”

Get ready for turbulence in Kim Jung Hyun and Im Soo Hyang’s relationship on “Kokdu: Season of Deity”!

“Kokdu: Season of Deity” is a MBC fantasy romance drama starring Kim Jung Hyun as Kokdu, a grim reaper who leaves the underworld every 99 years to punish humans in the mortal realm. During his latest trip, he winds up meeting Han Gye Jeol, a female doctor who has the mysterious ability to order him around (played by Im Soo Hyang).

Spoilers

Previously on “Kokdu: Season of Deity,” Han Gye Jeol learned that Kokdu was a prime suspect in a serial murder case. Although she was firm in her trust of Kokdu even when Han Chul warned her that he might be a dangerous person, Han Gye Jeol will find herself wavering when suspicious evidence begins to pile up suggesting that Kokdu could truly be the serial killer in question.

In newly released stills from the drama’s next episode, the effects of the seed of doubt that has begun to sprout in Han Gye Jeol’s heart are clear. In contrast to the warm, happy atmosphere that used to surround the smitten couple, there is ice-cold tension between the two characters as Kokdu gazes frostily at a fearful Han Gye Jeol.

While Han Gye Jeol appears frightened by Kokdu, Kokdu’s expression is closed-off and unreadable as he coldly turns and walks away from her.

How will things change between the once-happy couple—and will Han Gye Jeol be able to understand Kokdu’s terrifying assignment when she finally learns the truth about his mission?
