Yoon Park and Girls Generation's Choi Soo Young will be the main leads of the upcoming MBC drama "Send a Fan Letter." 

On September 15th, MBC confirmed that Yoon Park and Choi Soo Young are confirmed to lead the upcoming drama "Send a Fan Letter." 

"Send a Fan Letter" is a romantic comedy 4 episode drama that will revolve around a top actress who's struggling with the biggest crisis in her career life and a man who has to protect his daughter's heart with a fake fan letter reply. 

The upcoming series will be directed by Jung Sang Hee who also co-directed the drama "From Now On, Showtime!"

Yoon Park will play the role of Bang Jung Seok, an unmarried man who raises his daughter alone. Her daughter is suffering from a blood disease. Meanwhile, Choi Soo Young will play the role of Han Kang Hee, a Hallyu goddess actress that will face the biggest crisis of her career because of fan letters.

"Send a Fan Letter" will officially premiere this November. It will exclusively premiere on MBC.

 

 

This will be the second drama of Yoon Park for the year. He was also part of the series "Forecasting Love and Weather" together with Park Min Young, Song Kang, Girls Day Yura, Kim Mi Kyung, and Jung Woon Sun. 

 

Same with Choi Soo Young, this will also be her second drama for the year. She is currently starring in the KBS drama "If You Wish Upon Me" with Ji Chang Wook, Sung Dong Il, Won Ji An, Yang Hee Kyung, and Kil Hae Yeon. Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung and Yoon Bak attended the first script reading for their upcoming rom-com drama “Please Send a Fan Letter” (literal title)!

The drama is a romantic comedy about an actress who faces the biggest crisis in her life in the entertainment industry and a man who has to protect his daughter’s pure heart by writing fake replies to her fan letters.

The script brought together talent from all across the industry. Director Jung Sang Hee, who co-directed “From Now On, Showtime!,” was in attendance along with writer Park Tae Yang. Sooyoung and Yoon Bak were of course present along with fellow cast members Shin Yeon Woo, Jung Jae Sung, Jung In Ji, Kang Da Hyun, Choi Han Yoon, Han Jung Ho, and many more!

 

With so many styles of acting and all types of charisma coming under one roof, the time spent reading through the script was quite an experience for all of the cast and crew involved. Despite it being the first time everyone gathered together, the actors didn’t hesitate in fully immersing themselves in their roles, giving everyone just a snapshot of the brilliance that is sure to come with this drama.

Sooyoung, in her role as celebrity Han Kang Hee, displayed her unique and stellar acting abilities, showcasing her delicate handling of the character’s ever-changing emotions and delivering a strong performance.

Yoon Bak, who plays Bang Jung Suk, a lawyer and single father who is looking after his sick daughter all on his own, submerged himself completely in his role as the script reading commenced. Everything from his expression to his tone of voice drew out the character of Bang Jung Suk, and there is much anticipation building for yet another new side of his acting.

It’s almost hard to believe that this was the first time Sooyoung and Yoon Bak were starring in a drama together as the chemistry they showed both while in character and simply as themselves made it seem like they had known each other much longer.

The newly released poster captures the pure and heart-fluttering moment between Han Kang Hee and Bang Jung Suk in their school uniforms. High school romance hinted in new poster for Please Send a Fan Letter

Welp, it looks like fake-penpals-to-lovers wasn’t enough of a concept for MBC’s upcoming rom-com Please Send a Fan Letter. The latest poster reveals our two leads back in high school with cute vibes (that title treatment!) and a tagline that reads: “After all this time, come back to me again.”

Our drama follows the story of a dedicated single dad played by Yoon Park (Forecasting Love and Weather). His little daughter is terminally ill and he quits his job to care for her, willing to do anything for her happiness — including forge a fan letter response from her favorite actress.

 

Said actress is played by Sooyoung (If You Wish Upon Me) — and thanks to the forged fan letter, she gets drawn into the family’s story. That was more than good enough for me, but it looks like our two leads not only attended high school together, but had a fluttery romance. Hence, their reunion has a lot more at stake than the mere pretense of fan letters and the pressure of the ever-present press.

No matter how much drama-coincidence is thrown into this story, I’m 100% here for Yoon Park as a softy single dad. Give me that, and everything else is just an added bonus.

The script for Please Send a Fan Letter was written by Park Tae-yang and won an award at an MBC drama script contest. The 4-episode drama is directed by Jung Sang-hee (Showtime Begins), and will air weekly on Saturdays beginning on November 26th.

The drama stars Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung as Han Kang Hee, an A-list actress who is facing the greatest crisis of her career. Yoon Bak will star as Han Kang Hee’s first love Bang Jung Suk, a devoted single father whose young daughter is battling leukemia. In order to protect his daughter’s pure heart, he winds up writing fake replies to her fan letters for Han Kang Hee.

The first teaser for “Please Send a Fan Letter” previews the unexpected reunion between Han Kang Hee and Bang Jung Suk. The clip starts off with an introduction to top actress Han Kang Hee, who finds herself in a crisis when it’s reported that she threw away her fan letters.

Han Kang Hee demands that her representatives reveal that the rumors are not true, but the public is uninterested in the truth as they angrily throw hate and criticism towards her. On top of that, she finds herself in a physical confrontation that’s witnessed and stopped by Bang Jung Suk. The two recognize each other instantly, raising questions about what kind of relationship they had in the past.

As time goes on, this danger turns into an opportunity for Han Kang Hee. When Bang Jung Suk’s daughter Yoo Na receives a letter response from her favorite celebrity Han Kang Hee, she jumps up and down with glee and sets up a live broadcast to dish about the experience.

Han Kang Hee is left confused that someone has received a response from her and sets off to personally visit the fan. The visit leads her straight to Bang Jung Suk who asks his daughter, “Yoo Na, what have you done?!”

The first teaser has dropped – as well as a bright new poster – for MBC’s upcoming Please Send a Fan Letter, featuring the rom-com’s three leads: Sooyoung (If You Wish Upon Me), Yoon Park (Forecasting Love and Weather), and child actor Shin Yeon-woo.

When his daughter Yoo-na (Shin Yeon-woo) falls critically ill, single-dad Bang Jung-seok (Yoon Park) is determined to keep her spirits up and care for her the best that he can – even if it means telling some white lies. Thus, begins the fan mail project: writing a fake letter and pretending that star celeb Han Kang-hee (Sooyoung) wrote back in response to young Yoo-na’s fan letter.

 

As these things go in dramaland, Jung-seok and Kang-hee actually know each other from their high school days and we get a peek at their first encounter post-high school in the newest teaser.

 

The video begins with Kang-hee greeting her fans and the press, introducing herself as a top actor in South Korea. We then cut to the breaking news, citing trouble on Kang-hee’s last drama and announcing the latest scandal: “Fanletters thrown in the trash?” As Kang-hee screams that it wasn’t her, the article reports on her agency’s formal apology – assuring the public that they’re investigating CCTV footage and that it was likely a mistake that won’t ever happen again.

Kang-hee tries her best to avoid the angry crowds, but she’s accosted by an unknown man – who is quickly overtaken by our dad-in-shining-armor Jung-seok. Kang-hee and Jung-seok are surprised to see each other, and another news article cuts into scene. With a subheading claiming that a young girl with leukemia received a letter from Kang-hee, the main headline reads: “Life’s greatest danger becomes an opportunity.”

The young girl in question, of course, is Yoo-na and she presents the letter in a live-stream interview – which Kang-hee watches in confusion. If Kang-hee didn’t write the letter, who did and why? While a shocked Jung-seok asks Yoo-na what’s happening, Kang-hee goes to the hospital to find out for herself. The teaser then closes on our OTP meeting each other again.

Written by Park Tae-yang with PD Jung Sang-hee (Showtime Begins) at the helm, the 4-episode drama has moved up its premiere date to November 18, following Golden Spoon.
