The Devil/ Demon is an occult mystery thriller in which a woman possessed by an evil spirit and a man who can see those evil spirits inside human bodies dig into the mysterious deaths surrounding five divine objects.

Character descriptions

Ku San Young (Kim Tae Ri)  has been preparing for the 9th-grade civil service exams for several years while working part-time during the day and studying at night. After receiving a keepsake from her father who has passed away, Goo San Young becomes embroiled in the mysterious deaths that keep happening around her, and she finds herself gradually changing.

 

Yeom Hae Sang (Oh Jung Se) is a folklore professor from a wealthy family. Yeom Hae Sang, who has extraordinary ears and eyes that can see spirits, gets to know Goo San Young by chance and encounters the demon who killed his mother right before his eyes when he was a child.

 

Lee Hong Sae (Hong Kyung) is a police officer of the violent crimes unit who graduated the police academy with top scores. Lee Hong Sae’s only goal is to be promoted quickly, but as he meets Goo San Young and Yeom Hae Sang, he also gets embroiled in unrealistic events.

Gong Yoo may be working with Kim Tae Ri in a new drama!

On December 29, industry representatives reported that Gong Yoo received an offer to star in “The Devil” (working title) by writer Kim Eun Hee and is currently discussing it.

In response to the report, a source from his agency Management SOOP clarified, “It’s true that he received an offer [to star in] ‘The Devil.’ It’s one of the projects he’s reviewing.”

Earlier on the same day, it was revealed that Kim Tae Ri is also in talks to appear in the drama.

“Devil” is aiming to air via SBS in 2022.

On December 29, it was reported that 'Mr Sunshine' fame actress Kim Tae Ri is in talks to star in writer Kim Eun Hee’s new SBS drama 'The Devil'. In response to the report, her agency Management mmm commented that 'The Devil' is one of the projects she has been offered and nothing has been decided yet. 'The Silent Sea' star Gong Yoo is in talks to star as the male lead as well. 

Previously at the '2022 SBS Showcase,' SBS announced that Kim Eun Hee, the writer who has penned dramas like 'Signal,' Netflix’s 'Kingdom' series, and most recently 'Jirisan,' would be returning to SBS next year with a new project. She is penning the new drama 'The Devil' and prolific actors like Kim Tae Ri and Gong Yoo are in talks to lead the projects, and her dramas have gained a cult-like status across the world, so it would be interesting to see what happens when three powerhouse artists come together! Although there is no major information regarding the drama's plot or characters, we are closely watching the development.

 

Kim Tae Ri will be starring in the drama 'Twenty-Five Twenty-One' opposite Nam Joo Hyuk, which will premiere on February 12, 2022, after the end of the currently airing 'Bulgasal.' It will air at 9 pm KST (5:30 pm IST). Meanwhile, Gong Yoo recently made a brief appearance in Netflix's hit survival series 'Squid Game' and more recently in the South Korean sci-fi mystery thriller 'The Silent Sea' alongside Bae Doona and Lee Joon. Actor Oh Jeong-se will appear in the drama 'Devil'.

According to JoyNews24 coverage on the 4th, Oh Jung-se received an offer to appear in the SBS drama 'Devil', which is expected in the second half of the year, and is positively considering it. Actor Oh Jung-se will appear in Kim Eun-hee's new drama 'The Devil'.

Hong Kyung to join the upcoming SBS drama "The Demon"

Hong Kyung will be working alongside Kim Tae Ri and Oh Jung Se in the upcoming SBS drama "The Demon."

On August 10th, it was revealed that Hong Kyung would be added to the cast of the upcoming drama "The Demon" written by top writer Kim Eun Hee ("Jirisan," "Kingdom," and "Signal").

"The Demon" will be one of the upcoming drama projects of Kim Eun Hee after the 2021 tvN drama "Jirisan." She will also pen the forthcoming drama "Rebound" and the reported drama special "Kingdom: Tale of the Crown Prince." 

The upcoming series is confirmed to be led by Kim Tae and Oh Jung Se. There are no details yet on what roles will be played by Hong Kyung and other casts. 

Hong Kyung is signed under the same company as Kim Tae Ri and this will be their first project together.

"The Demon" will premiere in the first half of 2023. 

 

 

Hong Kyung is booked and busy with several upcoming dramas. Aside from "The Demon," the actor will also join the new series "Concrete Market" and the two seasons of "Weak Hero." 

The actor was last seen in the 2021 drama "Lovers of the Red Sky" with Kim Yoo Jung, Ahn Hyo Seop, Gong Myung, Kwak Shi Yang, Choi Kwang Il, and Kim Kwang Gyu. Because of this drama, Hong Kyung received the Best New Male Actor Award in the film category at the 57th Baeksang Arts Awards.

'Plane TPC' said on August 4th, "Oh Jung Se has recently been offered SBS-TV's ‘The Demon," and said, "We are positively reviewing it." 'The Demon' is a new work by Kim Eun Hee. It is known as an occult genre which is a subgenre of detective fiction that combines the tropes of the main genre with those of supernatural, fantasy and/or horror fiction. Writer Kim is returning to SBS after 8 years of 'Sign' in 2011. 

The female lead is Kim Tae Ri and her company said, "We have received the script and are reviewing it positively." Gong Yoo was previously casted in the drama but had to decline because he was unable to attend due to scheduling issues. Oh Jung See and Kim Eun Hee worked together on tvN's 'Jirisan' in 2021. The two worked together once more for their next project. Oh Jung Se is going to continue with even more work. He has already confirmed his appearances in the Netflix original 'Sweet Home 2', the drama 'Ask the Stars', and the movie 'The Cobweb'.

 

Oh Jung Se is a South Korean actor. He is best known for his roles in the television series ‘Missing 9’ (2017), ‘When the Camellia Blooms’ (2019), ‘Hot Stove League’ (2019), and ‘It's Okay to Not Be Okay’ (2020) as well as the film ‘Swing Kids’ (2018). He won Baeksang Arts Award for Best Supporting Actor – Television two years in a row in 2020 and 2021.

Kim Tae Ri is best known for starring in the films ‘The Handmaiden’ (2016), ‘Little Forest’ (2018), ‘Space Sweepers’ (2020) and in the historical drama ‘Mr. Sunshine’ (2018). Writer Kim Eun Hee proved her writing skills with meticulous storylines in each of her projects such as “Sign,” “Ghost,” “Signal,” and “Kingdom.” “Demon” is the first project that she will be showcasing through SBS in about nine years since “Three Days,” which ended in 2014. She will also be working together with director Lee Jung Rim of “VIP,” a drama that has been praised for its novelty by depicting romance with a hint of mystery. On top of this, talented actors including Kim Tae Ri, Oh Jung Se, and Hong Kyung have joined the star-studded cast, raising anticipation for the drama.

Kim Tae Ri, who has been taking on new challenges by showcasing her wide acting spectrum, will play the role of Goo San Young. Goo San Young has been preparing for the 9th-grade civil service exams for several years while working part-time during the day and studying at night. Last but not least, actor Hong Kyung, who has been developing his acting skills through various projects, will play Lee Hong Sae, a police officer of the violent crimes unit who graduated the police academy with top scores. Lee Hong Sae’s only goal is to be promoted quickly, but as he meets Goo San Young and Yeom Hae Sang, he also gets embroiled in unrealistic events.

Hong Kyung impressed in various projects such as “Lovers of the Red Sky,” where he played the role of a talented chemical engineer Hwa Gong, and “D.P.,” where he appeared as a villain who torments other soldiers. Hong Kyung will make another acting transformation by taking on the role of an elite detective whose life gets twisted.

Plot Synopsis by AsianWiki: When the door to another world opens, demons exists there. Ku San-Young (Kim Tae-Ri), is possessed by one of those demon. Yeom Hae-Sang (Oh Jung-Se) can see the demon which has possessed Ku San-Young. They try to figure out the truth behind the mysterious deaths related to the five sacred objects.

Ku San-Young is busy working part-time during the day and studying to become a low ranking public officer at night. One day, she receives some articles left behind by her late father. Since then, mysterious deaths take place around her. She also finds herself slowly changing.

Yeom Hae-Sang comes from a rich background. He teaches Korean folklore at a university. Since he was a child, he has had the special ability to see demons in this world. He even saw his mother killed by a demon in front of him when he was young. Yeom Hae-Sang meets Ku San-Young and he faces the demon which killed his mother..

Lee Hong-Sae (Hong Kyung) is a lieutenant in the violent crimes investigation team. He only cares about advancing his career in the police department. Due to Ku San-Young and Yeom Hae-Sang, he gets involved in mysterious cases.

On September 21st, it was officially confirmed that Kim Tae Ri, Oh Jung Se, and Hong Kyung will be the main leads for the upcoming SBS mystery thriller titled "The Demon."

Kim Shin Bi to reportedly join Kim Tae Ri and Oh Jung Se's K-drama "The Demon"

Kim Shin Be will reportedly join the upcoming K-drama "The Demon."

On January 2nd, media outlet OSEN reported that Kim Shin Be will be added to the cast of the upcoming SBS K-drama "The Demon." 

Kim Shin Be made his acting debut in 2017 through the play titled "History of the Room." Since then, he has starred in several works such as "Hometown," "Journey to the Shore," "Cinema Street," "Fairy," and more. 

In 2022, the actor starred in the K-dramas "A Model Family" and "Cheer Up." 

There is no confirmation yet on whether Kim Shin Be will be officially part of the upcoming K-drama. 

Aside from "The Demon," Kim Shin Be will also be part of the upcoming movie "The Roundup: No Way Out" with Ma Dong Seok, Lee Joon Hyuk, Aoki Munetaka, Park Ji Hwan, Lee Bum Soo, and Kim Min Jae.

"The Demon" will be led by Kim Tae Ri, Oh Jung Se, Hong Kyung, Yang Hye Ji, and Jin Seon Kyu.

The upcoming series will be the least work of top writer Kim Eun Hee that also penned the works "Jirisan," "Kingdom: Ashin of the North," "Kingdom Season 1," "Signal," "3 Days," and more. 

"The Demon" is a mystery-thriller that will revolve around the mysterious death surrounding five bodies. It will showcase a woman who is possessed by demons and a man who can see the demon.

Kim Tae Ri will play the role of Ku San Young, the ordinary part timer who got possessed by a demon. Oh Jung Se on the other hand will play the role of Yeom Hae Sang, the man who has the ability to see demons since he was a child.

The series will be directed by Lee Jung Rim. 

"The Demon" will premiere this coming June and it will exclusively premiere on SBS. The upcoming K-drama will have a total of 12 episodes. 

There are no details yet on which character was offered to Kim Shin Be.

SBS Drops the Official Trailer of the K-drama "The Devil"

The forthcoming supernatural mystery thriller The Devil got its trailer released by the broadcasting channel SBS. 

The story of The Devil revolves around Ku San Young - a young woman who works part-time jobs during the day to earn her livelihood and studies during the night to seek a job as a public officer. One day, she gets her hands on some articles left behind by her father, and since then, she encounters mysterious experiences and deaths and finds herself gradually changing. 

 

 

But there is one man who can figure out the mystery surrounding the inexplicable happenings and experiences of Ku San Young. Yeom Hae Sang hails from a well-off family and is a professor teaching Korean folklore at a university. Ever since childhood, he had the unique ability to see evil forces and even witnessed his mother's death by a demon. Yeom Hae Sang sees the demon possessing Ku San Young, and together they try to uncover the truth of the mysterious deaths. 

 

 

The drama casts Twenty-Five Twenty-One actress Kim Tae Ri as Ku San Young, and It's Okay to Not Be Okay actor Oh Jung Se as Yeom Hae Sang. Hong Kyung will be seen in the role of Lee Hong Sae - a selfish lieutenant of the violent crimes investigation team who gets entangled in the mysterious cases along with Ku San Young and Yeom Hae Sang. Other cast members include Yang Hye Ji, Kim Shin Bi, and Jin Seon Kyu (Ku San Young's father). 

At first, there were discussions about casting Gong Yoo for the role of Yeom Hae Sang. But later Oh Jung Se was confirmed to appear as the male lead. 

The screenplay of the show is penned by Kim Eun Hee - known for the hit dramas Signal and Kingdom. Lee Jung Rim and Kim Jae Hong are the directors. 

The drama is set to release on June 16 and will reportedly air 12 episodes. So far, there is no news about the drama's broadcast on OTT platforms.

According to Hankyung.com coverage on the 16th, Pyo Ye-jin recently finished filming the new SBS drama 'Ghost'. Pyo Ye-jin, who is active in SBS weekend drama 'Exemplary Taxi' season 2 and tvN's Monday-Tuesday drama 'Youth Moon', stimulates curiosity about what kind of appearance she will appear in 'Ghost'.

'Ghost' is a work that tells the story of a woman who is used for a demon and a man who can see the devil who uncovers the mysterious death. It is a new work by Kim Eun-hee, who has been recognized for both box office and workmanship by presenting SBS 'Sign', 'Ghost', tvN 'Signal', Netflix 'Kingdom' series, etc., and has gathered topics from the planning stage.

In 'Exemplary Taxi 2', he plays the role of Ahn Go-eun, a genius hacker with a warm and warm sense of justice as Hong Il-jeom of Rainbow Luck, showing different charms in each episode, while in 'Youth Moon', he plays Jeong Ga-ram and is receiving favorable reviews for both comedy and excitement.

The global OTT platform Disney+ has unveiled its 2023 K-drama lineup. 

Disney+ will also stream The Devil (Kim Tae Ri). The Devil revolves around Ku San Young - a young woman who works part-time jobs during the day to earn her livelihood and studies during the night to seek a job as a public officer. SBS’s upcoming Friday-Saturday drama “Revenant” has announced its premiere date along with a new poster!

Written by famous scriptwriter Kim Eun Hee of “Sign,” “Ghost,” “Signal,” and “Kingdom,” “Revenant” is an occult mystery thriller in which a woman possessed by an evil spirit and a man who can see those evil spirits inside human bodies dig into the mysterious deaths surrounding five divine objects.

The star-studded cast including Kim Tae Ri as Goo San Young, who gets possessed by evil spirits, Oh Jung Se as Yeom Hae Sang, a folklore professor who sees the evil spirits, and Hong Kyung as Lee Hong Sae, a detective who tracks down the mysterious death surrounding Kim Tae Ri, amps up excitement for the actors’ new transformations through this drama.

Warning: Mentions of suicide below.

The newly released poster features the hands of a person assumed to be Goo San Young, who appears to be trying to hang oneself, while countless mysterious hands are manipulating her hands in the dark. On top of this eerie atmosphere, the text that reads, “I, who is not me, killed a person,” stimulates viewers’ curiosity by suggesting a mysterious murder case that will be caused by the evil.

“Revenant” is set to premiere on June 23 at 10 p.m. KST. Stay tuned!

Plot Synopsis by AsianWiki: When the door to another world opens, demons exists there. Ku San-Young (Kim Tae-Ri), is possessed by one of those demon. Ku San-Young is busy working part-time during the day and studying to become a low ranking public officer at night. One day, she receives some articles left behind by her late father. Since then, mysterious deaths take place around her. She also finds herself slowly changing.

Yeom Hae-Sang comes from a rich background. He teaches Korean folklore at a university. Since he was a child, he has had the special ability to see demons in this world. He even saw his mother killed by a demon in front of him when he was young. Yeom Hae-Sang meets Ku San-Young and he faces the demon which killed his mother..

Lee Hong-Sae (Hong Kyung) is a lieutenant in the violent crimes investigation team. He only cares about advancing his career in the police department. Due to Ku San-Young and Yeom Hae-Sang, he gets involved in mysterious cases.
