Watch: Lee Bo Young Aims To Prove Her Worth In The Competitive Advertising Field In Teaser For Upcoming Office Drama

dummy.jpeg?s=900x600&e=t

Dec 2, 2022
by S. Cho

JTBC has unveiled the first teaser for their upcoming drama!

“Agency” (working title) is an upcoming drama that depicts the battle between gracefully desperate advertisers through the story of Go Ah In (Lee Bo Young), the first-ever female executive of VC Group who covets the company’s highest position.

Lee Bo Young stars as Go Ah In, a Creative Director (CD) who leads Production Team 2 of VC Planning, a leading advertisement agency. Jo Sung Ha takes on the role of Choi Chang Soo, VC Planning’s Director of Planning who also has his sights set on the CEO position and struggles to control Go Ah In in the way he wants.

Son Naeun portrays VC Group’s third generation chaebol Kang Han Na who is a social media star and influencer. As she strives for independence and entrance into VC Group’s order of succession, Kang Han Na seizes the opportunity to take advantage of Go Ah In when she’s newly appointed VC Planning’s Director of Social Media.

Han Joon Woo will be playing VC Group’s secretary Park Young Woo who assists Kang Han Na as her private tutor, bodyguard, and loyal right-hand man. Jun Hye Jin will play Jo Eun Jung, a copywriter for Planning Team 2. As a working mom with a five-year-old son, she struggles to maintain balance between work and family.

The new teaser begins with the confident aura of Go Ah In as she kicks off her battle to the top. Go Ah In and everyone she surrounds herself with at work are competitive and professional advertisers who live on “ON mode” for 24 hours a day. As VC Group’s first-ever female executive, Go Ah In confidently states, “People like me who have nothing to lose do not think positively. We think financially.”

Go Ah In’s talent and competence is no secret as Choi Chang Soo remarks, “Easy things don’t suit Go Ah In.” He’s proven right as she’s tasked with what seems impossible, such as a PR commercial for a company whose chairman has been imprisoned and a presentation battle to win an advertising contract with a budget of 30 billion won (approximately $23,052,800). Despite these missions, Go Ah In firmly comments, “I’ll have to let them know why they need me.”

The drama’s producers shared, “‘JTBC’s new Saturday-Sunday drama ‘Agency’ is a story about real hustlers in advertising agencies who have a sixth sense for reading peoples’ ambitions and creating consumer messages. Also, within them is the desire for the top position. With Go Ah In at the center, this project deals with the process of those desires crashing and exploding like comets. Please look forward to this thrilling story about those who live war-like lives in order to stand at the top.”

Lee Chang-hoon meets Lee Bo-young... Joining JTBC's 'Agency'

news-p.v1.20221205.1ac428d3736b4c938567e

Actor Lee Chang-hoon joins JTBC's new Saturday drama 'Agency'. On the 5th, the agency Mystic Story said, “Lee Chang-hoon was cast in JTBC’s ‘Agency’. He will play an active role as Han Byung-soo, manager of the production team 2, so please pay attention.”

JTBC's new Saturday drama 'Agency' depicts 'Go A-in' (Lee Bo-young), who became the first female executive in a VC group, to build her career beyond her first and reach her highest position. It is a battle pole.

In the play, Han Byung-soo, played by Lee Chang-hoon, is a gentle and honest character, and will add to the fun of the play as a communication channel between an orphan who does not give side to people and people at the company.

Lee Chang-hoon built a new villain character by expressing the desire and anger he had hidden in his drama 'Tracer' without any adjustments, and was well received by viewers. In addition, as he is showing his presence with stable acting skills in various works such as the dramas 'Record of Youth', 'Black Dog', and 'Spring Night', expectations are already rising about what he will show in this 'Agency'. Meanwhile, 'Agency' is scheduled to be broadcast on JTBC on January 7, 2023.

Lee Bo-young races up Agency’s corporate ladder

by tccolb

jtbc-aget-10.jpg

The promos have kicked off for JTBC’s upcoming Agency, starting with new stills and a video teaser of the office drama’s main cast: Lee Bo-young (Mine), Jo Sung-ha (Adamas), Sohn Na-eun (Ghost Doctor), Han Joon-woo (The Empire), and Jeon Hye-jin (My Liberation Notes).

The story follows our heroine Go Ah-in (Lee Bo-young), the creative director at VC Group who overcame discrimination to become the company’s first female executive board member. But her dreams are higher still and she’s determined to keep pushing until she makes her seat at the very top of the ladder.

One big obstacle is chief director Choi Chang-soo (Jo Sung-ha), who has his eyes on the same prize and has long been scheming to become VC Group’s next CEO. Also entering the succession war is the newly appointed head of social media communications and star influencer Kang Hanna (Sohn Na-eun) – who is also a member of VC Group’s chaebol family.

Hanna has additional support as well from her right hand man, Park Young-woo (Han Joon-woo). He was her tutor during their school days, and now works as her bodyguard and a VC Group secretary. But Ah-in is not alone on her side, having recruited the talented copywriter Jo Eun-jung (Jeon Hye-jin). As a working mom, though, Eun-jung is having a tough time juggling between her job and her family.

The video teaser opens with our heroine presenting a meeting: “People like me who have nothing to lose don’t tend to have an optimistic outlook. We see things from an economical perspective.” While Chang-soo is busy networking, Ah-in studies billboard ads in the area while reflecting on the viewpoint we hear in voiceover: “The real players make their own message.”

We then jump to Ah-in’s confusion about the company wanting to push out a new ad when their CEO has just been imprisoned. In a meeting with Chang-soo, the team are told that the budget is 30 billion and that they have one week, but the sooner the better. In the intermittent text screens, we read: “Delving deep into the greed of others, the graceful but desperate war has begun!”

In the sequence that follows, Chang-soo celebrates while the rest of the staff – including Ah-in – are stressed and pressed for time as they work on the new ad. We learn in voiceover that this was ordered by the CEO and that there’s a large reward if it resolves the situation. Ah-in is, thus, ruthless about rejecting bad ideas – ripping up proposals and even burning the papers to the shock of Eun-jung.

Im Chul-soo (Alchemy of Souls 2) complains that it’s not an issue of bad personality, but that Ah-in is completely crazy. We also get a brief glimpse of an angry Hanna and worried Young-woo as the accompanying text screens explain Ah-in’s MO: “Consider it as a strategy and act like a crazy RickRoll'D.” Chang-soo is patronizing as he tells her that taking the easy route doesn’t suit her. But Ah-in isn’t phased and confidently declares, “I’ll show them why I’m needed.”

Written by Song Soo-han with PD Lee Chang-min (Monthly Magazine Home, Woohoo Waikiki 2) at the helm, JTBC’s Agency premieres January 7 and will be taking over the weekend slot following Reborn Rich.

JTBC’s “Agency” (literal translation) has dropped a new teaser!

“Agency” is a new drama that depicts the battle between gracefully desperate advertisers through the story of Go Ah In (Lee Bo Young), the first-ever female executive of VC Group who covets the company’s highest position.

The newly released teaser previews a secret behind her promotion to an executive. VC Planning Director Choi Chang Soo (Cho Sung Ha) sarcastically says to Go Ah In, “You know better that you are not qualified to be an executive.” Then, the chairman of VC Group Kang Yong Ho (Song Young Chang) continues, “Just accept it. I have high expectations for you,” making Go Ah In suffer from the harsh reality. Above all, Chairman Kang’s chief of staff Kim Tae Wan (Jung Seung Gil) makes it clear that Go Ah In is an executive with a fixed-term by saying, “Just one year. It is within Director Go’s term of office, so just take it in.”

Although it is unfair for Go Ah In who worked so hard to win the executive position with her own abilities, she becomes even more determined. Go Ah In replies, “There are humans who become more vicious when defeated. Such people make history. I’m going to try making it happen myself. History,” declaring a more desperate and fierce war.

Come work for Lee Bo-young in poster and teaser for Agency

by Jenzy

Agency1.jpegAgency-mp01.jpeg
The first poster and a new teaser have dropped for JTBC’s upcoming Agency, and it’s serving amazing Lee Bo-young (Mine) looks and Shondaland-level corporate character drama.

The plot centers around the coveted CEO position of the ad agency VC Group and the power struggle between our three characters vying for that top spot. In our first corner we have our lead Lee Bo-young’s character Go Ah-in, a VC Group copywriter turned first female exec. She’s a hard worker and a competent leader, but just like she had to fight to break the glass ceiling of executive, she’ll find that the road to CEO is full of those preying on her failure.

In our next corner we have our chief director Choi Chang-soo, played by Jo Sung-ha (Adamas). After graduating from a top university, Chang-soo has had his career path practically laid out in front of him, with promotions falling into his lap for the last 25 years. However, while he might have considered himself a shoe-in for CEO, Ah-in’s sharp business acumen gives him a run for his money, and the two become bitter rivals in the fight for power.

Finally, in our last corner we have newcomer Kang Hanna, played by Son Na-eun (Ghost Doctor). She may be a young influencer upstart who got her position as VC Group’s social media head through family connections, but she has a whip-smart intuition on her side that makes her a competent advertiser.

While the three of them viciously duke out the top spot, they’re not alone. On Ah-in’s side, she has her girl Friday of sorts, copywriter and working mom Jo Eun-jung, played by Jeon Hye-jin (My Liberation Notes). And supporting Hanna is her multi-hyphenate bodyguard-secretary-childhood tutor Park Young-woo, played by Han Joon-woo (The Empire).

The teaser is a short in-universe employment ad for potential VC Group recruits wherein Ah-in invites all those who are sick of being feeling like normal, pitiful losers to come work for her at VC.

Written by Song Soo-han and directed by Lee Chang-min (Monthly Magazine Home), JTBC’s Agency will premiere January 7.

Lee Bo Young Catches The Eye Of Chaebol Heiress Son Naeun In New Drama

dummy.jpeg?s=900x600&e=t

Dec 14, 2022
by E. Cha

JTBC’s upcoming drama “Agency” (literal translation) has shared a glimpse of the intriguing dynamic between Lee Bo Young and Son Naeun!

Set within the fiercely competitive world of one of Korea’s leading advertisement agencies, “Agency” will star Lee Bo Young as Go Ah In, the first-ever female executive of VC Group. Son Naeun will also star in the drama as Kang Han Na, the youngest daughter of the VC Group family and VC Planning’s Director of Social Media.

Go Ah In, who grew up on her own without parents, struggled financially throughout her youth—and even when she was admitted to Korea’s top university, she had no choice but to enroll in a public college outside of Seoul instead. However, her burning ambition and desperation to succeed helped her climb the ranks at her company despite her unprivileged background.

On the other hand, Kang Han Na’s upbringing couldn’t have been more different from Go Ah In’s. While Go Ah In had to fight tooth and nail for everything she’s achieved, Kang Han Na is a chaebol heiress who has had everything handed to her on a silver platter, including her job: as soon as she finished studying abroad in the United States, she was immediately given the position of Director of Social Media at her family’s company.

However, despite their glaring differences, the two women actually share some hidden similarities. Both of them believe in the credo “Think strategically, act crazy,” and they both have great instincts and keen intuition. When the two meet as executives, Go Ah In immediately catches the sharp-witted Kang Han Na’s eye, and even as she hides her claws, it’s clear to the heiress that the other woman is a force to be reckoned with.

After they recognize each other’s skill and potential, it remains to be seen whether the two women will join forces and work together—or if they will face off in a vicious battle to reach the top.

The producers of the drama teased, “One key point that will be fun to keep an eye on in ‘Agency’ is Ah In and Han Na’s battle of wits—and how they’ll use one another to reach the top of their industry. Will the two of them create a womance for the ages, or will they fight one another and drive each other crazy? Please look forward to their entertaining dynamic.”

Lee Bo Young And Jo Sung Ha Spark Competition Behind Cold Smiles In Upcoming Drama “Agency”

dummy.jpeg?s=900x600&e=t

New stills for “Agency” are here starring Lee Bo Young and Jo Sung Ha!

“Agency” is a new drama that depicts the battle between gracefully desperate advertisers through the story of Go Ah In (Lee Bo Young), the first-ever female executive of VC Group who covets the company’s highest position.

Go Ah In entered the industry with no qualifications or experience to back her up, climbing her way to the top through sheer power of will and a killer work ethic. Her persistence to succeed and her dedication to her career is what ultimately landed her in the position as the first-ever female executive in a company as prestigious as VC Group. On the other hand, Choi Chang Soo (Jo Sung Ha) is a man who boasts lots of qualifications and experience, gliding his way to the top of the corporate ladder with no failures to pollute his clean streak of success.

Cho-Sung-Ha-2.jpeg

The two have both reached such high positions, but their backgrounds are completely different, especially since there is more to Go Ah In’s promotion than there appears to be. Thus begins the in-house war between the two, taking jabs at one another and their individual ethics when it comes to work and their lifestyles. The tension and competition that spark a fire between these two are what is depicted in the newest stills. The two regard one another with cool and easy smiles, but the tension is so palpable between them that it seems like a fire will erupt at any second.

The production team of “Agency” commented, “Much like the intense confrontation that happens between Go Ah In and Choi Chang Soo in the drama, the acting competition between these two actors, neither of whom will back down, is what viewers should watch out for the most. Please look forward to it.”
