Synopsis:

During the Northern Song dynasty, Qiao Feng, the leader of the Beggars' Sect, was a heroic and chivalrous man who was respected by the whole martial arts world. But he was suddenly accused of being a Khitan, which made him isolated by friends and allies. On his journey to find out about his origin and enemies, Qiao Feng met Azhu the maid from Murong family, and they fell for each other. The two went together through events in Juxian Manor, Yanmen Pass, and the Mirror Lake - until Qiao walked into a deadly trap, and the mastermind behind his troubles was revealed.

 

Side note:

Donnie Yen has stated that one of the problems with adapting wuxia is that the genre features many novels and fictional heroes, but lacks a unified universe. His ambition, therefore, is to build a Chinese wuxia universe, using Qiao Feng's story as a franchise starter in order to promote the Chinese wuxia spirit. In the future, the character may also meet other classic wuxia heroes in the universe, just like "The Avengers" in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

HOLY $%^& I forgot how terrible English translations are (haven't watched a Chinese movie/TV  English-translated for years), and what's MOST wrong with old Wuxia/Chinese movies that Americans gets to watch (inaccurate voice acting portrayal). Watched this on one of the American services, with spoken language in English.

Translation actor is BAD!  They should hired at least some good actors to do this.

 

As one of the characters said in English translation - "What a JOKE!"

It completely takes you out of the enjoyment of the movie in anyway possible. :/

I guess its hard trying fit an entire novel length story into a movie - I kept looking out for all the other story parts/characters that was supposed to appear.

 

Ah Zhu didn't get much story in this

 

I was surprised to see Grace Wong appear Mrs Ma (didn't see the cast list beside Donnie before watching).
